The pilot of a private jet whose five crew and seven passengers were arrested in the Dominican Republic over a 460-pound cocaine haul was previously involved in a notorious domestic abuse trial.

Aatif Sadfar is one five Pivot Airline crew members who are currently being held in the Caribbean Island.

He and his colleagues were arrested in Punta Cana on April 5 after narcotic agents discovered the massive drug shipment before the aircraft was set to depart for Toronto.
