Eric Idle has criticised his fellow Monty Python star Terry Gilliam while complaining that he has to keep working at the age of 80 because his money has run out.
Idle spoke of his surprise that income had dried up from the comedy troupe, which was responsible for films such as Life of Brian, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Meaning of Life and the stage show Spamalot. “I don’t know why people always assume we’re loaded,” he said on Twitter/X. “Python is a disaster. Spamalot made money 20 years ago. I have to work for my living. Not easy at this age.”
