What Doug Ford insiders say about Danielle Smith’s plan for transgender rights — and what it means for Ontario
The premier was shaking his head before the reporter had finished asking him the question.
“No,” said Doug Ford when queried Monday about whether the Ontario government would consider “any similar action” to the controversial moves Alberta Premier Danielle Smith is making on transgender rights.
“We have a law here, we’re leaving everything alone,” he said.
By immediately shutting down the possibility of his Progressive Conservatives following Alberta’s United Conservatives’ decision to restrict youth hormone treatments and surgeries, Ford was, as is his wont, keeping in the mainstream of public opinion in Ontario.
