For years Swift, 34, maintained a determined silence on political issues, leading critics to claim she was a secret Republican. However, in 2018 she broke this silence to endorse Democratic Senate candidates in Tennessee, and two years later she backed Joe Biden for president and accused Trump of “stoking the fires of white supremacy”.
