Scientists set out to test the famous ‘infinite monkey theorem’ to estimate how long it would really take a simian to write the Bard’s full collection
It would take longer than the entire expected lifespan of the universe for a monkey to type the works of William Shakespeare by bashing randomly at a typewriter, scientists have calculated.
The researchers, who presumably also had a lot of time on their hands, set out to test the famous “infinite monkey theorem” to estimate how long it would take one immortal and incredibly patient simian to type everything from Hamlet to Macbeth through random keystrokes.
