Britain risks creating a new blasphemy law “by the back door” by charging a man over the burning of the Koran outside Turkey’s London consulate, a senior Tory MP has warned.
Robert Jenrick, the shadow justice secretary, warned that the decision by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) threatened freedom of speech which he said must be “prized” even if it was “offensive” to many Muslims.
