NAVARRO-GENIE: Pipeline failure is national security failure

As Prime Minister Mark Carney recently met with U.S. President Donald Trump, one issue loomed over every handshake and headline — energy.

Canada has a generational opportunity to emerge as the world’s most reliable democratic energy supplier. But instead of seizing the moment, the country risks squandering it in regulatory gridlock and political doublespeak. The recently completed Trans Mountain Expansion (TMX) allowed Canadian crude exports to China to hit a record 7.3 million barrels in March. But one pipeline isn’t a strategy — it’s a starting point.

Doctors Were Preparing to Remove Their Organs. Then They Woke Up.

A federal investigation found a Kentucky nonprofit pushed hospital workers toward surgery despite signs of revival in patients.

Four years ago, an unconscious Kentucky man began to awaken as he was about to be removed from life support so his organs could be donated. Even though the man cried, pulled his legs to his chest and shook his head, officials still tried to move forward.

Now, a federal investigation has found that officials at the nonprofit in charge of coordinating organ donations in Kentucky ignored signs of growing alertness not only in that patient but also in dozens of other potential donors.

AFN to hold emergency meeting with chiefs on major projects bill

OTTAWA – The Assembly of First Nations will hold an emergency meeting to discuss the implications of proposed federal legislation that would speed up approvals for major projects.

National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak says she met yesterday with Prime Minister Mark Carney about the bill his government plans to table today, adding that she remains “deeply concerned” about the potential impact on consultations with First Nations.

The meeting with Carney followed a series of comments by federal ministers about the legislation and Ottawa’s duty to consult with Indigenous Peoples that Woodhouse Nepinak called “disheartening.”

Will the Chiefs be bought off or invited to partake in a spot at the Slush Fund trough?

Carney prepared to sit over the summer to pass new bill to fast-track major projects

OTTAWA — Prime Minister Mark Carney said his government will “do everything” to pass its “One Canadian Economy” legislation before the start of the summer break. If it fails, he said MPs might have to sit over the summer to get it adopted.

On Friday, Intergovernmental Affairs and One Canadian Economy Minister Dominic LeBlanc introduced “An Act to enact the Free Trade and Labour Mobility in Canada Act and the Building Canada Act” which is set to remove federal barriers to internal trade and labour mobility and accelerate the realization of “nation-building projects.”

Fast track Slush Funds is more like it.

I Burned a Quran. The British Government Punished Me for Blasphemy.

My name is Hamit Coskun, and I’ve just been convicted of a religiously aggravated public order offense. My “crime”? Burning a copy of the Quran outside the Turkish consulate in London. Moments later, I was attacked by a man in full view of the street. I was hospitalized. Then I was arrested.

Some may say that book burning is a poor substitute for reasoned debate. I would counter that it was a symbolic, nonviolent form of expression intended to draw attention to the ongoing move from the secularism of my country of birth to a regime that embraces hard-line Islam.

J. D. Vance Is Right About the Promise of Autonomous Trucking

While in Rome last month to celebrate Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration, Vice President J. D. Vance expressed a tempered optimism about artificial intelligence that should cheer economic accelerationists and reassure skeptical conservatives. Speaking with Ross Douthat of the New York Times, Vance distinguished between some of the deleterious social effects of AI that conservatives are right to fear and the productivity and quality-of-life enhancements that they should actively seek. “I think the history of tech and innovation,” Vance told Douthat, “is that while it does cause job disruptions, it more often facilitates human productivity as opposed to replacing human workers.”

Not sure the historic displacement will pan out as hoped.

Strategic U.S. Real Estate Acquired by Aggressor Nations Needs Urgent Review

When Chinese entities began to buy up farmland near remote but strategic American military installations here in the United States, there were some of us who raised the question, Why?

Those who did so were criticized, described as paranoid, Sinophobic, and hostile to Chinese investment in America.

We might want to revisit that criticism.

Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canada are likely here to stay, U.S. ambassador insists

OTTAWA — President Donald Trump’s envoy to Canada says some level of American tariffs on Canadian products is the new normal, holding out only slim hope that direct talks between Trump and Prime Minister Mark Carney could see them lifted entirely.

U.S. Ambassador Pete Hoekstra said in an interview with the Star that the president and U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick are deep into private discussions with Canada to establish what Carney calls a new economic and security relationship, and said Trump and Lutnick indicated “tariffs are a part of the framework moving forward.”

Canada’s unemployment rate could reach 7.5% as Liberal Gov’t & Corporate Canada continue to massively abuse immigration

Canada’s unemployment rate could hit 7.5 per cent as more newcomers are admitted to the country than expected after the government made massive cuts last year to its immigrant targets, says a new report.

“Visa approvals for temporary residents have picked up, which suggests that, rather than contracting as the government previously outlined, the population will continue to grow this year,” Harry Chambers, an assistant economist at Capital Economics Ltd., said in a note. “This will keep upward pressure on labour force growth and we now expect the unemployment rate to peak at 7.5 per cent, rather than seven per cent.”

At WorldPride D.C., NPR Forwards Unfounded LGBTQ Panic Over at Trump

National Public Radio “breaking news” reporter Ayana Archie served up an example of tax-funded public media once again going beyond traditional liberal media support for gay rights and going full throttle to throw unprofessional, anti-journalistic support to the entire alphabet movement (LGBTQIA….) in an article posted to NPR Thursday, “The LGBT community shows up for WorldPride in D.C., despite some worries about Trump.”

Archie piled on the melodrama right off the bat.
