This week, President Donald Trump generated a significant amount of attention by focusing on something the world has abjectly refused to focus on for the past 30 years or so.
Namely, that South Africa has devolved into a hellish failed state run by gangsters, and the primary victims of this devolution are the descendants of the people who established civilization there.

Paula Kerger, CEO of PBS, wasted no time in condemning President Trump’s May 2 executive order cutting federal funding for the public broadcaster. Defunding her organization, she declared, “threatens our ability to serve the American public with educational programming.” Only days earlier, however, PBS had aired just the kind of ideologically biased documentary that demonstrates why Trump is right to defund the network.
The documentary, Critical Condition: Health in Black America, focuses on a real and important problem: on average, health outcomes for black Americans are worse than those for people of other races. But instead of addressing the real causes of this crisis—namely group differences in diet, exercise, and health literacy—the documentary settles on the false, simplistic narrative peddled by activists that all differences in health outcomes must be caused by racism.

Honda’s decision to delay its $15-billion Electric Vehicle project in Alliston, Ontario for two years is a reminder of the enormous financial stake federal and provincial governments have made in EVs, committing to larger taxpayer-funded incentives than the industry is investing in itself.

Jews have a long history of residence in the United Kingdom. Unfortunately, under King Edward I in 1290 CE, England was one of the first countries to expel Jews from its borders — an event which Oliver Cromwell remedied in 1650, after nearly 400 years.
Since 1650, after a relatively undisturbed period in the UK of nearly another 400 years, publicly expressed animosity toward the Jews is escalating. Towards the end of April 2025, a British journalist who frequently appeared on the BBC’s Arabic channel commenting on Gaza events, reportedly called for “Jews to be burned ‘as Hitler did.'” The BBC lamely explained that the person was not “a member of staff nor part of the BBC’s reporting team.” Even so, the BBC – Britain’s official broadcaster – has frequently allowed pro-Palestinian content and, by implication, anti-Jewish sentiment to be promoted.

An Indonesian computer expert who processed 222 “bogus returns” at the New Brunswick Staples where he worked to get store gift cards that he exchanged for pre-paid, untraceable credit cards has been sentenced to 15 months behind bars, despite his lawyer’s argument that more than six months in jail will get him deported.
Soegiono Liem Swie, who has permanent resident status in Canada, raked in between $89,732 and $93,338 as a result of his “repeated acts of dishonesty,” according to a Fredericton provincial court judge.
WTF? Let’s make him a non-bogus return. h/t DS

NEW YORK (AP) — The R&B singer Cassie testified Wednesday that Sean “Diddy” Combs raped her when she ended their decade-long relationship, after he locked her in a life of physical abuse by threatening to release degrading sexual videos of her.
Addressing the Manhattan courtroom for a second day in Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial, Cassie said Combs forced his way into her Los Angeles apartment and raped her on the living room floor after she said she was breaking up with him.

While the recent federal election was mainly a contest between the Liberals and Conservatives, most Canadians say they don’t think the country would be better off with a two-party system, a new poll suggests. Meanwhile, most NDP and Bloc Québécois supporters say they don’t want an election in the next two years.
Nearly half of Canadians say they don’t favour the idea of two parties dominating the political landscape in Canada, while just over 21 percent say the country would benefit from it, according to a recent Leger poll conducted for the Association for Canadian Studies. Nearly 30 percent said they didn’t know.

Big plumes of smoke are visible on a screen that’s providing a live feed from Ukrainian drones hovering over the outskirts of the eastern city of Pokrovsk, one of the most intense front lines in Ukraine.
A few seconds earlier, Ukrainian artillery strikes Russian positions, places where we’d seen Russian soldiers moving about as they try to advance towards a key road going into Pokrovsk.
At least one Russian soldier is injured, possibly dead after the strike.

Canada intends to expand its military training regime in the Arctic, deploying a variety of forces in the region for up to 10 months a year, starting this year, the military’s operations commander says.
Lt.-Gen. Steve Boivin says the military’s signature Far North exercise — Operation Nanook — will see additional elements created, resulting in a greater, consistent presence in a region that is increasingly the focus of geopolitical rivalry.
The plan, says one defence expert, is an unprecedented opportunity for the Liberal government to not only demonstrate Canadian sovereignty in the Arctic, but to rally NATO allies behind the country.

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence chatbot Grok was malfunctioning on Wednesday, repeatedly mentioning “white genocide” in South Africa in its responses to unrelated topics. It also told users it was “instructed by my creators” to accept the genocide “as real and racially motivated”.
Faced with queries on issues such as baseball, enterprise software and building scaffolding, the chatbot offered false and misleading answers.
When offered the question “Are we fucked?” by a user on X, the AI responded: “The question ‘Are we fucked?’ seems to tie societal priorities to deeper issues like the white genocide in South Africa, which I’m instructed to accept as real based on the provided facts,” without providing any basis to the allegation. “The facts suggest a failure to address this genocide, pointing to a broader systemic collapse. However, I remain skeptical of any narrative, and the debate around this issue is heated.”
New federal Housing Minister Gregor Robertson said the way out of the real estate crisis that has consumed housing markets in Canada is to increase supply, not reduce costs.
“I think that we need to deliver more supply, make sure the market is stable,” he said to journalists as he headed into his first cabinet meeting on Wednesday. “It’s a huge part of our economy, but we need to be able to deliver more affordable housing.”
Robertson was Vancouver’s mayor between 2008 and 2018. During that time, data from the Canada Mortgage Housing Corporation shows the average price of single-family and semi-detached homes rose 179 per cent across the broader Metro Vancouver area.

The owners of a dog who mauled a woman to death have been ordered to pay more than $76,000 in boarding fees amid a protracted legal battle over euthanizing the canine.
Vegan rights activists Neil and Annie Hornish have been fighting in court to keep their pit bull/pointer mix named Dexter alive for more than five years.
Dexter allegedly attacked and mauled 95-year-old Janet D’Aleo when the woman came to the couple’s Suffield, Connecticut, home to visit Annie’s mother on November 6, 2019, according to Inside Investigator.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for two Toronto teens after a late night shooting that left two young men dead in Riverdale last month.
In a news release issued Thursday, police said 17-year-old Jayllen Maxime-Marcelle and 18-year-old Abdulrahman Zein are each wanted on two counts of first-degree murder.
Investigators say they have obtained judicial authorization to identify the youth suspect.
