Miller refuses to explain Canada Summer Jobs grant to ‘antisemitic’ activist

Heritage Minister Marc Miller is refusing to say who approved a federal summer jobs grant to an organization tied to a Montréal activist with a documented history of “antisemitic” remarks, despite records showing his office signed off on the funding.

Blacklock’s Reporter says internal documents reveal a $2,882 grant under the Canada Summer Jobs program was awarded in 2018 to the Community Media Advocacy Centre, an organization linked to activist Laith Marouf, whose past statements included calls for violence against Jews.

Iran’s Truly Evil Twelver Ideology Must Be Destroyed

Iran’s Truly Evil Twelver Ideology Must Be Destroyed

I was on active duty in the Navy in 1979 when the mullahs replaced the Shah and started their special Islamic revolution. I never served in Vietnam but was stationed with a number of veterans of that war, and was surprised when so many of them started repeating what became almost a chant in our unit: “Nuke them, nuke them. Nuke them ‘til the sands turn to glass.” I was working in a big hospital, and the chanters were mainly doctors and corpsmen. They were, as we might say nowadays, kidding, not kidding.

Canadian astrophysicist among dead and missing scientists at the centre of U.S. probe

A conspiracy theory suggesting a nefarious connection between the deaths, murders and disappearances of at least 10 individuals with ties to the U.S. scientific community has found its way to Washington and become the focus of a multi-agency investigation.

On Tuesday, in a statement to multiple media outlets, including CBS, the FBI announced that it was “spearheading the effort to look for connections into the missing and deceased scientists,” many of whom were reportedly involved in sensitive nuclear and aerospace research, including one murder victim who was an award-winning Canadian astrophysicist.

Some have been linked to “UFO’s” but I remain skeptical.

‘This is not the country I moved to’: the British Indians showing support for Nigel Farage

‘This is not the country I moved to’: the British Indians showing support for Nigel Farage

Savitha Prakash, an NHS doctor living in the London borough of Harrow, believes there are similarities between the Reform UK leader, Nigel Farage, and India’s prime minister, Narendra Modi. “He’s [Modi] one of those people, like Nigel, he walks the talk. He made [a] difference to the country,” said Prakash, who chairs Reform UK’s branch in Harrow.

In particular, the 47-year-old said Farage and Modi – who have each been accused by their critics of scapegoating marginalised communities – were focused on putting the needs of the majority first.

“There was a time before [Modi] came into power that minority appeasement was normal,” she said. “Everybody believed that if you want to be in power, you have to appease the minority. Today’s Nigel speaks the same thing [as Modi]. He speaks about looking out for the majority.”

‘A well-known secret’: inside Toronto’s violent tow truck wars

‘A well-known secret’: inside Toronto’s violent tow truck wars

When Cameron moved his family to a suburb north of Toronto last year, neighbours told him it one of the safest streets in the area. The roads were lined with cream-brick houses and manicured lawns. In summer, kids played between driveways; in winter, they dug tunnels through snowbanks.

But any hope of a peaceful life on Allison Ann Way was shattered when a house across the street was shot at four times in five months. The most recent attack came in early February, as Cameron was leaving for work. Moments after his children had headed out for school, gunfire tore into the neighbour’s garage and a dark SUV sped off.

“Whoever was doing this was trying to send us a message, and they did,” Cameron said, peering out from his garage. “This street is now empty, like a ghost town.”

Joe Varner: Canada needs to pay attention to China’s military purges before betting on Beijing

Joe Varner: Canada needs to pay attention to China’s military purges before betting on Beijing

On Sunday morning, when Mark Carney declared that Canada’s historic closeness with the United States now represents “weaknesses,” he opened the door to a fundamental rethinking of Canadian foreign policy. But if diversification means turning toward China, Canadians deserve a clear-eyed assessment of the risks, not just the opportunities. That assessment becomes far more complicated when viewed against what is now unfolding inside China’s military leadership.

ChatGPT faces criminal investigation over shooting

ChatGPT faces criminal investigation over shooting

Prosecutors in Florida have launched a criminal investigation into ChatGPT because of claims that the AI bot helped an alleged killer prepare for a mass shooting.

James Uthmeier, Florida’s attorney general, said state officials were demanding answers from OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, which allegedly offered “significant advice” to a gunman who left two people dead at Florida State University in April 2025.

“If ChatGPT were a person, it would be facing charges for murder,” Mr Uthmeier said. “This criminal investigation will determine whether OpenAI bears criminal responsibility for ChatGPT’s actions in the shooting at Florida State University last year.”

Canada, U.S. trade systems ‘don’t fit together very well,’ Greer says

Canada, U.S. trade systems ‘don’t fit together very well,’ Greer says

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer says there is a gap between the Canada and U.S. administrations’ trade philosophies.

Greer made the comments at a U.S. House Ways and Means Committee hearing on U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade agenda on Wednesday.

“They’ve done this, but overall they’ve indicated that they want to be trading more, they want to have more trade agreements with more countries,” Greer said, when asked whether Canada is taking the same steps as Mexico to better align with U.S. trade policy, specifically when it comes to rules of origin.

Fractured and ready to fall? Iran regime may prove Trump wrong

A joke making the rounds in Iran is that the Israeli airstrike that killed Ayatollah Khamenei at the start of war merely made him decades younger.

His son and successor Mojtaba, observers say, is a more radical version of the father, and wants revenge. President Trump had recently been insistent that he achieved “regime change” in Iran, heralding “much more rational” leaders with whom US negotiators could talk. For all he has said, the “great deal” Trump expected to extract this week from the rational regime has failed to materialise, forcing an extension of the ceasefire.
