Terry Newman: Debate commission loses to Rebel News again

Shortly after 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, before the English Leaders Debate in Montreal ended, word began to spread on X that the media scrum that was to immediately follow the debate was cancelled. The reason given to reporters by the Leaders’ Debate Commission’s Executive Director Michel Cormier: “We don’t feel that we can actually guarantee a proper environment for this activity.” This did not please members of the press. One could be heard shouting out: “Why? This is an infringement of the liberty of the press. This is your one job!”

Pakistani jihadist who plotted to carry out 7/7 bombings in Birmingham wants to be deported – but Home Office refuse over ‘human rights concerns’

A Pakistani jihadist cannot be deported despite renouncing his British citizenship because it would breach his human rights, official papers suggest.

Irfan Khalid was one of the leaders of a gang who plotted to carry out a 7/7-style mass terror attack in Birmingham and turn the city into a ‘little war zone’.

The conspiracy was smashed during Britain’s biggest anti-terror investigation, with Khalid sentenced to 18 years in prison in 2013.

Pentagon Review of Close Combat Training Standards Is Long Overdue

Ten years have passed since the Department of Defense initiated a social experiment with women in the military. Pentagon officials promised that female trainees headed for previously all-male combat arms units would have to meet the exact same standards as men.  Has the experiment played out as promised?

We are about to find out. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s March 30 Memorandum calls for a 60-day review to achieve high, uncompromised standards in combat arms units such as the infantry, Special Operations, and other occupations with extraordinary physical demands.

The Canadian Future Party is calling for the immediate dismissal of Amira Elghawaby, cabinet’s $191,000-a-year Special Representative on Combating Islamophobia, and the elimination of her office entirely.

Blacklock’s Reporter says in a platform released this week, the party proposed folding her responsibilities into existing government agencies.

Dramatic rise in fake political content on social media as Canada prepares to vote

More than a quarter of Canadians have been exposed to fake political content on social media that is “more sophisticated and more politically polarizing” as the country prepares to vote in a federal election, researchers have found, warning that platforms must increase protections amid a “dramatic acceleration” of online disinformation in the final weeks of the campaign.

In a new report released on Friday, Canada’s Media Ecosystem Observatory found a growing number of Facebook ads impersonating legitimate news sources were instead promoting fraudulent investment schemes, often involving cryptocurrency.

This is gaslighting.

‘My home is worth millions – but my own kids are priced out of this city’

Before Donald Trump imposed tariffs on Canada and threatened its sovereignty, the Canadian psyche was consumed with another major issue: housing affordability. With an election on the horizon, voters are wondering if any party has a plan to fix what has become a generational problem.

Willow Yamauchi says she was just a “regular” person when she and her husband bought their family home in Vancouver 25 years ago for a modest sum of C$275,000 – around C$435,000 ($312,000; £236,400) in today’s dollars.

That same property is now worth several million.

In the city in Canada’s pacific northwest, Ms Yamauchi’s story is as common as the rainy weather. The average price of a detached home in Vancouver in 2000 was around C$350,000. Now, it is more than C$2m.

Did Katy Perry just kill feminism?

On Monday, 6 celebrities formed an all-female crew aboard a Blue Origin space capsule for a suborbital space flight that lasted 11 minutes. The women included the wife of Jeff Bezos, singer Katy Perry and CBS presenter Gayle King. Public reaction was not what Bezos expected for him or his company, which is an imitation of Musk’s SpaceX.

Like the race card after Obama, the female card has been revoked thanks to unlikable people like Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris. Abusing power with prosecutions of Trump by Fani Willis and Tish James also was unhelpful.

Ouch! Some nasty cuts!

I’m a Plastic Surgeon. This “Gender-Affirming” Procedure Is a Scam

Often performed on minors, “top surgery” creates permanent and disfiguring changes.

I am a plastic surgeon. Over the past 35 years, I’ve seen many of my colleagues abandon the most basic premise in human biology: that there are two, immutable sexes. Their capitulation to “queer theory” has resulted in children receiving needless, dangerous, and life-altering surgeries—all based on the lie that people can change their sex.

West Kelowna golf course operators want restitution after on-course fight

The owners of a golf course in West Kelowna say they are demanding restitution from those involved in a physical altercation on their course earlier this week — an incident they describe as a desecration of the property and a breach of community values.

The confrontation at Two Eagles Golf Course and Academy was caught on video Monday and has since circulated online. It shows a heated dispute between two groups of golfers, escalating into shouting, shoving and punches, as others attempt to intervene.

The course is located on Westbank First Nation land and is under Indigenous ownership.

FSU gunman’s chilling family secrets explode as distraught biological mom makes bombshell claims

When reports began circulating that an active shooter was on the FSU campus in Tallahassee, Anne-Mari Eriksen was one of countless distressed parents trying to make contact with their loved ones at the school.

At this stage, she was desperate to find out if her son was okay, but as details emerged through a press conference on Thursday afternoon, a new nightmare emerged – her son was responsible for the carnage unfolding.

Phoenix Ikner, 20, was identified later by cops as the shooter, with authorities revealing he was the son of sheriff’s deputy Jessica Ikner and had used her weapon to kill two people and injure another six.

Matthew Lau: Reading, writing and revolution in Ontario schools

Judging by a teachers’ union magazine, the keys to education are not math, grammar or history but climate-change activism

The miserable state of Canada’s K-12 public education, well documented by international tests showing steadily declining scores for two decades, already has many parents deeply concerned. Their equanimity will not be improved by the Spring 2025 issue of ETFO Voice, published by the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario. It expresses no concern that 50 per cent of Grade 6 students fail to meet provincial standards in math and contains no plans for improving academic achievement. Instead, the ETFO seems singularly focused on moulding Ontario’s public-school children into a generation of Greta Thunbergs.

Ford could fix this but won’t.

Meet the Man Who Murdered the Democratic Party

A pair of earthshattering, history-altering, Chris Christie-sized stories broke this week, but they’ve (mostly) skated beneath the political periphery. That’s because you can’t grasp the sheer enormity of the consequences until you connect them together.

On their own, they’re inconsequential, back-of-the-page news stories — scarcely soliciting a shoulder shrug from political wonks. But together, as a one-two punch, it will change American politics forever.

And it will murder the modern Democratic Party. There’s been a slow-moving coup… but nobody’s noticed!
