How Canadian Universities Collaborated With Chinese Institutes Now Declared a Risk

Before Canada’s recent designation of 85 Chinese academic institutions as potential threats to national security, several Canadian universities had engaged in extensive interactions with some of those institutions.

The list of Named Research Organizations released Jan. 16 is part of Ottawa’s Policy on Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern, introduced to bolster Canadian universities’ research security.

The numbers that reveal why Trump is America’s next president

In the Goat Bar and Grill in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire, the local Republicans were having a blast.

It was only a Monday night, but with a first-in-the-nation primary vote the following day, spirits were high. America’s eyes had turned on the Granite State in search of hints of what this election season would bring.

On stage, Scott Brown, the 64-year-old former Republican senator, sang the hits of Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf and Skid Row. As he warmed up the room for his next cover, he looked for a crowd-pleasing line.

Biden is planning to throttle Israel’s arms supply as fury grows against Netanyahu’s bombing campaign in Gaza

President Joe Biden is reportedly considering using weapons sales as a means to convince Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to scale back their attack on the Gaza Strip.

Sources told NBC News that the Pentagon has been directed by the Biden administration to review what weaponry Israel has requested that could be used as leverage to scale down their military attack on Gaza.

At least 26,422 Palestinians have been killed and 65,087 injured by Israeli counterstrikes since October 7, the Hamas-run Gaza health ministry said Sunday.

Human-rights groups threaten to withdraw from the foreign interference inquiry

A coalition of human-rights groups representing ethnic communities targeted by China are poised to boycott the public inquiry into foreign interference that begins Monday if Commissioner Marie-Josée Hogue allows politicians with alleged ties to Beijing to cross-examine them and gain access to confidential testimony.

Justice Hogue, a judge on the Quebec Court of Appeal who heads the inquiry, granted standing to former Ontario Liberal cabinet minister Michael Chan, now deputy mayor of Markham, Ont., and independent MP Han Dong. Standing means they can cross-examine witnesses and gain access to all evidence collected, including whatever is presented to the inquiry outside of hearings.

Can All of D.C.’s Money Keep the EV Humpty-Dumpty Together?

Electric vehicles, the Goldilocks cars — they work only if not too cold or not too wet.

We may have hit Peak EV (Electric Vehicle).

Deloitte’s Global Automotive Consumer Study has just found a “rise in U.S. consumer interest in internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and a decline in hybrid and battery electric vehicle (BEV) purchase intent.” Interest in buying fossil-fuel cars rose nine points, to 67 percent, while interest in hybrids fell to 21 percent and in EV’s to 6 percent.

Trump Blasts Biden for Slain US Troops: “Our Country Cannot Survive with Joe Biden as Commander-in-Chief”

Former President Donald Trump has strongly condemned sitting President Joe Biden for the deaths of three U.S. troops and dozens of casualties in a drone attack on Sunday.

“The drone attack on a U.S. Military Installation in Jordan, killing 3 American Servicemembers, and wounding many more, marks a horrible day for America,” he said on Truth Social.

“My most profound sympathies go to the Families of the Brave Servicemembers we have lost,” he continued. “I ask all Americans to join me in praying for those who have been wounded. This brazen attack on the United States is yet another horrific and tragic consequence of Joe Biden’s weakness and surrender….”

Civilian Deaths in Gaza: Relatively Low

You wouldn’t know it from the hectoring decision just rendered by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against Israel, but the death toll among civilians in Gaza — even including children and women — is among the lowest in the history of comparable warfare. Over the past several months, it has become even lower.

According to The New York Times, “The daily death toll in Gaza has more than halved in the past month,” and has fallen almost two-thirds since late October. Moreover, the percentage of civilian to combatant causalities has gone down considerably as well.

Gazan propagandists rely on their leftist supporters’ ignorance

A recent tweet from the Quds News Network, a “youth news agency” supporting Hamas, purports to show a sniper’s bullet found in a Gazan hospital (i.e., a Hamas fortification). The fact that the photo is patently ludicrous means that the people behind the propaganda recognize that their leftist followers in the West are strikingly ignorant about how the world operates, which is kind of funny. What’s not funny is knowing that these profoundly ignorant people hold the levers of power in the American government, media, and entertainment world.

83 Million? The baffling case of E. Jean Carroll.

Donald Trump in furor stormed out of a New York courtroom for a while, in the defamation suit brought by author and dating/boyfriend/sex-advice columnist E. Jean Carroll.

It was just settled against Trump for $83.3 million. The Carroll suit was largely subsidized by Reid Hoffman the billionaire capitalist, and mega-donor to the Democratic Party and leftwing causes.

The Power of Ethnic Identity

Strong ethnic identities are often portrayed as a holdover from an older, irrational, pre-modern era. This is probably why contemporary international conflicts are framed as civilizational or ideological struggles. On this reading, the conflict between, say, Russia and Ukraine cannot be seen for what it really is: a bloody stand-off between Ukrainian nationalism and Russian imperialism. On the contrary, it becomes just one localized instance among many of a global struggle of democracy against authoritarianism, another example being the conflict between Hamas and Israel.

Such moralizing language is not always ill-founded. However, the undeniable ethnic inflections in these conflicts—also evident in the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan—testify to the fact that clashes of zero-sum nationalisms remain the primary cause of interstate wars. Every nation state that has collapsed since the 1990s (Yugoslavia, the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia) has disintegrated along ethnic lines.

White Minnesota Farmer Sues State Over Discriminatory Program

Now showing more anti white bullshit

A Minnesota farmer is suing the state over an agricultural grant program that discriminates on the basis of race and sex.

The program, called the Down Payment Assistance Grant Program, provides up to $15,000 in funding to help “emerging” farmers purchase farmland. It is administered by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Rural Finance Authority.

Oct. 7 Was Worse Than a Terror Attack. It Was a Pogrom.

‘Let me know of one Palestinian in Gaza who tried to save a Jew and maybe I’ll change my mind’

Eyal Barad was in the safe room of his home in Nir Oz for more than 12 hours on Oct. 7 while Palestinians went on a rampage of his Gaza envelope kibbutz, eventually kidnapping or murdering more than a quarter of its residents.

Every so often, Barad, 40, was forced to cover his 6-year-old daughter’s mouth with his hand to stifle her squeals. The little girl, who is autistic, thought the whole thing was a game. Most of the time, though, Barad was glued to his phone, watching the live feed of a camera he had recently installed outside his home to monitor speeding cars. Images from the feed, which I obtained, show Palestinian women and children—some appearing as young as 8 years old—taking part in the horror of that day.
