Will Canada FINALLY shut the migrant back door? Ottawa weighs forcing Mexican asylum seekers to have visas before they enter – to stop them flying in and sneaking across the US border

Canada looks poised to shut the ‘side door’ into the US by finally imposing visa requirements on Mexicans flying into the country.

A lack of visa requirements for Mexicans has turned into thousands of asylum-seekers, Quebec’s premier said earlier this week.

‘We’re looking at a whole series of options, which would include visas, of course,’ the Minister of Public Safety Dominic LeBlanc told the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

What Is ‘Disease X’ That the WHO Is Preparing For?

Global organizations are working to build a permanent, globally-controlled state of readiness for the coming of the heralded “Disease X.”

Speaking at a World Economic Forum (WEF) seminar called “Preparing for Disease X,” World Health Organization (WHO) director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated that in 2018 his organization “needed to have a placeholder for the disease we don’t know.

“And that was when we gave the name Disease X,” he said on Jan. 17. “We were preparing for Covid-like diseases, and you may even call Covid the first Disease X.”

Artificial intelligence can’t replace the majority of jobs right now in cost-effective ways: study

In one of the first in-depth probes of the viability of AI displacing labour, researchers modelled the cost attractiveness of automating various tasks in the U.S., concentrating on jobs where computer vision was employed — for instance, teachers and property appraisers. They found only 23 per cent of workers, measured in terms of dollar wages, could be effectively supplanted. In other cases, because AI-assisted visual recognition is expensive to install and operate, humans did the job more economically.

23% is a lot and the rest won’t be far behind.

Demented Canadians who plan to vote Liberal doing so to stop Conservatives from winning and don’t give a crap about the harm Junior has caused

Most Canadians who plan to vote Liberal doing so to stop Conservatives from winning: poll

Most Canadians who plan on voting for the Liberal party are more motivated to stop the Conservatives from winning the election rather than endorsing the party’s vision and leader, according to a new poll released on Monday.

Meanwhile, the opposite is true for most Conservative supporters.

… The Conservatives have maintained a double-digit vote lead since September. If an election were held today, two in five (41 per cent) Canadians would support the Conservatives while a quarter (24 per cent) would vote for the Liberals, according to Angus Reid’s latest data. One in five said they would support the NDP.

Justin’s media is in death spiral spin mode.

Poilievre calls Trudeau’s stance on genocide case against Israel ‘incomprehensible’

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre slammed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s position on South Africa’s genocide claim against Israel on Monday, calling it “incomprehensible” and accusing the prime minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly of deliberately giving answers no one can understand.

Trudeau told reporters two weeks ago that Canada’s “wholehearted” support for the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which is adjudicating South Africa’s case against Israel, “does not mean we support the premise of the case brought forward by South Africa.”

FIRST READING: Canada’s rapidly fraying social cohesion

Polls are beginning to show signs that Canadians are breaking with their traditional reputation for tolerant social cohesion.

In just the last few months, there’s been a significant breakdown in the numbers of Canadians viewing immigration as an automatic good. At the same time, tensions between Canada’s various demographics are on the upswing – most notably when it comes to Canadian Muslims.

For decades, immigration polls have typically showed that the average Canadian is skeptical about increasing immigration levels, and worried that newcomers aren’t integrating. But these fears were usually checked by an overall acceptance that immigration was a net good for the country.

State-backed plans to bring about an EV revolution are backfiring

Why big fleet buyers are going into reverse on electric cars

Three years ago, London’s biggest taxi company reached a fork in the road.

Regulations announced by Transport for London meant all private hire vehicles registered in the capital would have to meet tougher green emission standards by 2023.

For Addison Lee chief executive Liam Griffin, it meant a choice: invest in plug-in hybrid cars, or “go full electric” and stump up millions for a new fleet of electric cars.

5 Year plans didn’t work well in the Soviet Union either.

We Are at War With Iran’s Mullahs

Someone should tell Joe Biden.

Each morning for the last several days I’ve turned first for news concerning the two SEALs lost at sea off the coast of Somalia, hoping—by this moment, hoping against all hope—that they will somehow be found alive. I’ve been privileged over the years to know and work with a few members of this very small and very special community. I use the word “community” advisedly. It’s a term they often use to describe themselves, and, when one listens to them talk about each other, it seems exactly right—they are a true community, one built on shared values, shared experience, shared commitment to excellence. Surely, they are already hurting deeply as they contemplate the fate of their fellow SEALs. Surely, too, they are wishing that those responsible are held to account. For these are not simply the victims of an unfortunate accident—they are the casualties of war.

Portland’s Encampment Kids

I’m standing outside the Central Police Precinct in downtown Portland, Oregon. Officer Eli Arnold and I have bicycled over to meet two of his colleagues, returned from a drug bust. We examine the proceeds of the crime on the hood of a squad car. The officers weigh the fentanyl powder on a small scale, record the amounts, and take out a few bags of pills to show me. A pill falls to the ground; one of the officers rushes to return it to the bag.

Biden Threatens Netanyahu’s Drive to Destroy Hamas

The deepening antipathy of the Biden administration toward Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is threatening to derail Israel’s military offensive to destroy Hamas.

With every day that the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) maintain their military effort to end the threat to Israeli security posed by Hamas’s presence in Gaza, more details emerge of the staggering underground terrorist infrastructure the Iranian-backed group has constructed in Gaza.
