The silence of the anti-racists

The explosion in anti-Semitism shames the woke left.

Remember Lady Hussey? A year ago this month, the British royal family was plunged into yet another race row, after Hussey, a senior royal aide, asked a black British woman at a palace event where she was ‘from’. Cue interminable TV debates, column inches and twitterings about the rotten, racist heart of British society, sparked by one clumsy comment from an octogenarian woman who clearly didn’t mean much by it.

In defence of Miss France

Beauty isn’t always diverse

It seems that things are going to the dogs across the Channel. It’s not just that the French birth rate, educational standards, and the homegrown car industry are all in decline; nor even that the homicide rate, Americanisms, and fast-food outlets are surging. It’s even worse than that: a short-haired, flat-chested woman was just crowned Miss France. Though the public vote in Saturday’s televised final went to two more generously appointed and traditionally becoiffed contestants, in a shock move, the all-female judging panel ranked a pixie-cutted maths graduate called Eve Gillès — otherwise known as Miss Nord-Pas-de-Calais — above both of them.

I think she is just fine.

Critics mock Meghan Markle’s ‘nerdy’ coffee ad: ‘What a fall from grace’

Meghan Markle is back on the screen, but her cameo in a new coffee advert is unlikely to lead to a resurgence of roles.

The Suits alum was lambasted for her brief role in an ad for instant coffee and tea brand Clevr as the beverage company’s CEO, Hannah Mendoza, gives viewers a tour of its headquarters.

John Robson: Canadian police enabling antisemitic hate — someone’s going to get killed

Someone is going to get killed. It’s what happens when you abandon the rule of law. And as increasingly aggressive, openly antisemitic protests roil our cities, we now have video footage of a masked menace telling someone “I’ll put you six feet deep” in front of police officers who, after long sociological cogitation, declared it totally cool. And the “such things have no place in Canada” crowd seem to agree.

Pro-Palestine activists target ‘genocidal’ Israeli hummus in shops

Anti-Israel campaigners plaster stickers on products made in the country as they call for boycott

Pro-Palestinian campaigners are labelling pots of Israeli hummus stocked in British supermarkets as “profiting from genocide”.

The anti-Israel BDS movement – which stands for boycott, divestment and sanctions – calls for activists not to buy Israeli products in order to put economic pressure on companies operating in the country.

Metro accuses Loblaw of falsely implicating it in bread price-fixing scheme

In new court filings, Metro Inc. is accusing Loblaw Cos. Ltd. and its parent company of conspiring to implicate Metro in an alleged bread price-fixing scheme.

Metro has submitted a statement of defence and crossclaim in Ontario Superior Court, responding to a class-action lawsuit that implicates it and several other grocers in the alleged conspiracy.

The grocer denies being involved in bread price-fixing, which is also the subject of a federal Competition Bureau investigation.

Canada needs hundreds of thousands of public EV charging ports. Who is going to build them?

Most of the people who come to visit Debbie Nightingale’s Ontario farm are lured in by a chance to get up close and personal with her herd of friendly goats. But some visit for more practical reasons: to charge their electric vehicles.

“We have people who come on a regular basis because they know we have these,” Nightingale said, gesturing to the two-port EV-charging station she installed last year with the help of a federal tourism recovery grant.

As part of the federal government’s net-zero targets for the future, it is aiming for all new light-duty car and passenger truck sales to be zero emission by 2035, which will require a nationwide network of public charging ports.

Guilbeault is a lying idiot “Most people gonna charge at home.”

Is a Liberal resurgence possible under Trudeau?

We’ve reached a “new nadir,” says pollster Frank Graves, reflecting on his latest findings. “Canada’s outlook is the darkest and most divided in our lifetime.”

Is it that terrible? Mr. Graves has been taking the pulse of Canadian public opinion for 30 years. “Scores we are seeing on the country’s direction are the worst we have ever encountered,” he told me. Latest tally? “Seventy per cent of Canadians say the country is moving in the wrong direction.”

Using Sexism & Racism to ‘Improve Diversity’

While it may once have been scandalous for employers to exclude white men from their recruitment process, fast forward to 2023 and most hiring panels appear to have decided it’s riskier to include them. Infuriated by the failure of equality to produce equal outcomes, our liberal culture demands a bogeyman, and in the straight, white male, it found the pantomime villain of its dreams. Whatever your grievance, the patriarchy will shoulder the blame because any alternative culprit is simply too ‘offensive’ to countenance—no matter how well the facts support their claim.

Jesse Kline: Steven Guilbeault’s bad-faith plan to ban gas-powered cars

The Liberals don’t like to characterize their policies as causing potentially irreparable divisions between Eastern and Western Canada. Yet nothing screams “Laurentian elite looking out for their own at the expense of everyone else” quite like the recent press conference announcing the government’s new Electric Vehicle Availability Standard.
