Dublin riots and the controversy over Irish fighter Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor, one of the world’s most famous athletes, is standing in front of a burning bus in Dublin. Dressed in his trademark three-piece suit, he gazes into the distance as a mob — fists clenched, faces covered, petrol bombs in hand — stand behind him.

The image is a fabrication, a digitalised “artwork” posted to Twitter/X on Friday by Paul Golding, leader of the far-right political group Britain First, who has previously been convicted of religiously aggravated harassment and a terror offence.

This so-called ‘trans,’ ‘non-binary’ woman is thinking about becoming Muslim

Aurora Bird (aka Birdy and) is a 20-something woman who chopped off her breasts; claims to be both “transgender” and “non-binary”; sports a weirdly epicene voice, a skimpy beard and mustache, long hair, and pretty feminine features; wears poorly applied make-up…and is seriously contemplating converting to Islam. She’s utterly pathetic and is noteworthy only because she perfectly exemplifies the damage that woke culture does to a growing number of young people.

AP and Reuters: Up to Their Old Tricks on Oct. 7

“Credibility, an editor once said, “is the lifeblood of our profession. Without it not one person will believe a single word that we write.”

Hence, Reuters’ categorical denial of bias in reporting the Holocaust-like events of October 7 in the Gaza envelope can be, as the saying goes, laughed out of court. “Reuters is committed to delivering independent, accurate and unbiased news.” Really? A freelance “stringer” from Gaza, whose Bible is the Koran and whose family are back in Gaza City scared stiff of what Hamas might do to them, can deliver independent, accurate, and unbiased photographic or video images of a pogrom on Jews? His work must inevitably be advocacy journalism at best or anti-Semitic propaganda at worst.

Was China behind Sam Altman’s ousting?

AI is a new front in our civilisational war

The blink-if-you-missed-it four-day drama at the tech firm OpenAI requires deep attention. On the surface it looks like power shenanigans; underneath lies a tale of humanity’s future and geopolitics.

The strange saga began a week ago, when the board of the nonprofit decided to fire its AI guru and cultish leader, Sam Altman. But when the 700+ staffers of OpenAI wrote an open letter saying that they too would go with the ousted CEO, he was swiftly reinstated.

Sweden and the explosive consequences of multiculturalism

Where did it all go so wrong for Sweden? The nation once known for ABBA, IKEA and its social-democratic welfare state has now become a byword for gangland killings and grenade attacks. Crime has soared to unprecedented levels. Grenade attacks have become an unwelcome feature of suburban life. Islamism is spreading unchecked. Even some on the Swedish left have been forced to acknowledge that multiculturalism is unravelling and that the state has failed to integrate vast numbers of migrants.

Election of Milei, Wilders and Cogswell Has the Left Worried

Is there a disturbance in the force? I think there might be. In just the last week, the chainsaw-wielding “anarcho-capitalist” Javier Milei won the presidential election in Argentina, the Freedom Party of Islamo-realist Geert Wilders trounced its opponents in the snap general election in the Netherlands, and, here at home, a Republican was elected mayor of Charleston for the first time since 1877. The Zeitgeist would seem to be awake and on the move. What is it waking from? I agree with those who say it is waking from wokeness.

Three Palestinian men shot in Vermont

Three Palestinian men were shot and injured near the University of Vermont on Saturday in what authorities suspect could be a hate-related crime.

The Burlington Police Department said in a press release that two of the three victims are in stable condition while the third sustained “much more serious injuries.” The three men, who are each 20 years old and of Palestinian descent, were visiting the home of one victim’s relatives in Burlington for the Thanksgiving weekend and were walking along a street when they were confronted by a white man with a handgun.

Conservatives lead by 15; Liberals and NDP tied outside of Quebec.

From November 15 to 22 2023, Abacus Data conducted a national survey of 3,450 adults that asked Canadians how they would vote if an election was held at the time of the survey as part of our regular national omnibus surveys.

In this report, we share results of that survey and take advantage of the large sample size to explore demographic, regional, and socio-economic factors correlated with vote in more detail than usual.

With millions of mortgages coming due, finance minister expects banks ‘to work with’ Canadians

Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland expects banks will follow a new series of rules and guidelines designed to protect Canadian homeowners, millions of whom are set to renegotiate loans at potentially higher rates.

“The thing that I hear the most right now is people are concerned about interest rates, especially people who have mortgages and are concerned about the renewal of their mortgages,” Freeland said in an interview airing Sunday on Rosemary Barton Live.

“And I think that is very understandable,” she told CBC’s chief political correspondent Rosemary Barton.

I don’t think Banks are going to be into the “feels” of “working with you.”
