The ‘Just Transition’ Soviet-Style Plans for Canada’s Oilpatch

The “just transition” legislation currently before the House of Commons Natural Resources committee mentions unions a fair bit. It also mentions what are effectively five-year plans, which was a common practice for moulding the economies of the Soviet Union and China during their darkest years.

However, outside of big-inch pipeline construction, refining, and the oilsands, there simply aren’t that many unionized companies in the oilpatch, at least in Saskatchewan. That is, next to none in the Land of Living Skies.

Mastermind behind Hamas attacks personally handling hostage negotiations

The Hamas leader who masterminded the Oct 7 attacks is personally handling negotiations for a hostage release even as Israeli troops seek to find and kill him.

Yahya Sinwar, who spent 22 years in an Israeli prison, has taken control of the deal and has been in-and-out of touch with Qatari mediators, according to reports.

Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister, has described Sinwar as a “dead man”. The terrorist leader has stayed inside Gaza, unlike Hamas’s political-wing which lives in luxurious exile in Qatar and Turkey.

Three teen girls charged after cop assaulted while breaking up fight at Brampton school: police

Things have changed at Catholic schools I guess. Looks like they’re passing a shiv.

Three teenaged girls are facing charges after a Peel police officer was allegedly assaulted while attempting to break up a fight at a Brampton high school earlier this month.

Police say that a 22 Division youth investigative officer was sent to Cardinal Leger Secondary School near Main and Queen streets on the morning of Nov. 9 following a request from the principal.

Police say that while the officer was speaking with the principal, a fight broke out inside the cafeteria.

RCMP Investigating Muslim Preacher’s Call for Allah to Eradicate ‘Zionist Aggressors’

The federal police force says it’s investigating a public speech by a Montreal Muslim preacher that called for Allah to exterminate “Zionist aggressors.”

Adil Charkaoui, imam at the Centre Islamique Assahaba, made a speech during a pro-Palestine rally on Oct. 28 and lashed out at Israel for its actions in Gaza following the Oct. 7 terrorist attack by Hamas.

Nothing will come of this. Nothing ever does.

Affordability crisis putting Canadian dream at risk: poll

An affordability crisis is putting the Canadian dream at risk for immigrants, according to a new Leger poll done exclusively for OMNI News.  

The survey finds two-in-five (42 per cent) immigrant households are struggling to make ends meet, with the number increasing to 54 per cent when surveying those who moved to Canada within the last five years. 

For immigrants? What about Canadians? Mass immigration has fueled the housing and affordability crisis.

Workers from South Korea will be coming to work on Windsor’s NextStar EV battery factory, sparking backlash from politicians who say the jobs should go to Canadians because of the massive taxpayer subsidies the companies received.

The NextStar EV battery factory, a partnership between Stellantis and LG Energy Solution, received about $15 billion in subsidies from the federal and provincial governments.

One would not always know this by reading the American press. Unencumbered by extraneous talents and achievements, a sizeable number of this country’s journalists have come to exhibit an excessive faith in the only tool that they are capable of wielding: words. These days, to open up a newspaper or website is to get the feeling that the authors and editors who are featured within believe that reality is optional, that the truth must be subordinated to the narrative, and that all human experiences have been crafted out of soft putty. Once, we described members of the media as “reporters.” Presently, “scriptwriters” might be more apt.

Cries of ‘free Gaza’, ‘ceasefire now’, and even ‘from the river to the sea’ – a chant, purported to be a cry for peace and ‘solidarity’ with Palestinians, but used by those who want to wipe Israel off the map – have now joined, and at times drowned out, the usual green slogans.

The torture, rape, massacre, and kidnapping of roughly 1,200 Israelis on October 7 was only the beginning of this revelation. In the West, Hamas’s butchery has unleashed eruptions of antisemitism and massive, increasingly violent displays of support for the terrorists. Like some mythical monster that periodically emerges from hibernation to slaughter far and wide, the rough beast, it seems, is just stretching its legs. And we are only beginning to take its measure.
