The Tribal War over Israel

A global information battle is underway—and the Jewish state is losing.

Israel’s war with Hamas is part of a more extensive information war with a global, networked tribe. Israel is losing that larger struggle. You can gauge the status of this long war in the results of a recent poll (one of many that say the same thing), taken just after the October 7 terrorist attack. Asked whether Israel’s response to the Hamas attack was fully justified, 81 percent of Americans over age 65 said that it was; for those aged 50–64, 56 percent agreed; ages 35–49, 44 percent; and for ages 18–34, only 27 percent agreed.

What Really Happened at the Museum of Tolerance

Islamists and leftists invaded a Jewish neighborhood in Los Angeles and threatened a Holocaust museum that was going to screen uncensored images and videos of the Hamas atrocities carried out on Oct 7

Fake news had been spread that Gal Gadot would host the Museum of Tolerance screening. (She was not even there.) And that Hollywood celebrities would be there. (They were not.) The actual attendees were mostly Jewish and activist community figures.

CBC president Catherine Tait’s reign of error will not be soon forgotten

When the smart people running the CBC were looking to produce a French version of one of its podcasts this year, it somehow never dawned on them that outsourcing the adaptation to a Paris-based production house might not be viewed as a stroke of genius.

Canada, after all, is an officially bilingual country. The Broadcasting Act stipulates that the CBC is our national public broadcaster in French and English with a mandate to, among other things, “contribute to a shared national consciousness and identity.”

Snowflakes for Hamas: It turns out that ‘white people’ often means Jews

“The animating force behind this schizophrenic rhetorical divide is the practice of dividing up the world into teams based on notions of who has “power,” which comes in a set number of forms: being wealthy, being able-bodied, being male, being “cis.” More than any other source, power comes from being “white.” In other words, it’s fine if we burn you or your children alive, or cheer on those who do; if you criticize us, that’s an inherently unjust and damaging exercise of power, because we have defined you as being “white.”

Not according to the ADL.

Majority of Canadians agree with Canada’s support for Israel in war against Hamas: poll

A majority of Canadians favour Canada’s support for Israel in its war with Hamas, which most respondents classify as a terrorist organization, according to a new poll for the National Council of Canadian Muslims.

That’s great but the only “support” Trudeau will care about comes on election day from 2 million Muslims versus 350,000 Jews.

And I find the number of respondents calling for a “ceasefire” suspect.

Ottawa plays down British travel advisory that says terror attack attempt in Canada is ‘very likely’

The federal government is playing down a recent British government warning that says an attempted terrorist attack in Canada is “very likely.”

Earlier this month the British government updated its travel advice for citizens visiting Canada, saying that “terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Canada.”

Britain has the same warning level on its travel advisories for the United States and some Western European countries, including France, Spain and Germany. But the British safety and security advice does not apply to all of North America – its assessment of Mexico only says “terrorist attacks in Mexico cannot be ruled out.”

‘Your land is in Europe!’ How anti-Israel crowds at Concordia University turned violent

In the weeks since the Oct. 7 massacres, Canadian academia has yielded no shortage of voices justifying the attacks and calling for Israel’s ultimate defeat

But on Wednesday night, a table at Concordia University draped with an Israeli flag and carrying pictures of Israeli hostages was all it took to provoke a crush of anti-Israel protesters screaming, making threats and ultimately resorting to physical violence.

Time to Pull the Plug on Forced Electric Vehicles

The recent headlines regarding the forced transition from gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles to electrical vehicles (EVs) are screaming “Slow down!” even as federal and state governments are barreling along trying to regulate and mandate them.

The market and the current technology have shown plenty of warning signs they are not ready at this point, but the government seems bent on recklessly jeopardizing our national and economic security to push its environmental agenda. While EVs likely have a role in our future transportation, it is time to hit the pause button and develop a better strategy moving forward into a strategy that includes a competitive marketplace and technical considerations, and not just massive governmental intervention in our economy.

Alan Dershowitz: when Israel must consider the nuclear option

Israel will, ‘as a last resort, likely act preventively or reactively with all weapons at its disposal’

Professor Alan Dershowitz is one of Israel’s most prominent defenders outside the Jewish state. He has just written — in record time — a book about the events of October 7: War Against the Jews — How to End Hamas Barbarism. It will be published next month and will argue, among other things, that the Hamas attack “has required Israel to consider its nuclear option as a last resort to assure its survival.” I spoke to Professor Dershowitz and asked him first, about another of the book’s arguments, that there should be no absolute distinction between civilians and combatants in Gaza, but instead “a continuum of civilianality.”
