Hamas is not long for this world

There was long been a swell of sympathy for Hamas in the West. A certain leader of the opposition, you will remember, referred to them as his ‘friends’ and said that the UK government classifying them as a ‘terrorist organisation’ was a ‘big, big historical mistake’. He did not condemn Hamas this week. And he is not alone. The mass rallies on the streets of Britain in recent days have shown the level of support for a barbarism that for years has been quietly accommodated in this country.

CIA admits 1953 Iranian coup it backed was undemocratic

The CIA has for the first time acknowledged that the 1953 coup it backed in Iran that overthrew its prime minister and cemented the rule of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi was undemocratic.

The admission came in a new podcast revealing details about one of the most famed CIA operations of all times – the effort to spirit six American diplomats out of Iran under the guise of a Hollywood movie production.

The CIA in 2013 admitted its role in the coup that brought down Iran’s then prime minister, Mohammad Mosaddeq, but until now has not publicly acknowledged that the move was undemocratic.

Better late than never I guess.

Finland intelligence says ‘state actor’ may have sabotaged gas pipeline

Finland’s security service has said a “state actor” may have sabotaged the undersea gas pipeline that was torn open on Sunday, amid speculation that Russia was behind the incident.

The Balticconnector pipeline between Finland and Estonia is likely to be out of action for several months after a “mechanical force” ripped apart its concrete casing and cracked open the pipe at a depth of about 60 metres, a few miles outside Finnish territorial waters.

The same night, a submarine data cable between the two countries was knocked out by unspecified damage in Estonia’s maritime economic zone.

A government audit of one of Canada’s largest Muslim charities alleges some of its directors and employees were involved in “an apparent Hamas support network.”

Canada Revenue Agency auditors cited the “troubling” allegation as one of the reasons it felt there were grounds to revoke the charity status of the Muslim Association of Canada.
