‘Willing to slaughter’: Muslim gets 16-year terrorism sentence for joining ISIS

Jamal Borhot – Muslim Terrorist

A Calgary man who joined the Islamic State group in the Middle East was sentenced Wednesday to 16 years in prison.

“Terrorism has been described as the most vile form of criminal conduct,” Court of King’s Bench Justice Corina Dario said as she sentenced Jamal Borhot.

“The sentence must also send a clear and unmistakable message that terrorism is reprehensible and those who conduct it will pay a heavy, substantial price.”

South Korea’s LG Energy Solution on Friday said it plans to buy the 49-per-cent stake held by Stellantis in their battery joint venture in Ontario for the nominal amount of US$100.

Stellantis also said on Friday it would book charges of around €22.2-billion ($35.81-billion) in the second half of last year as the Franco-Italian automaker scales down electric-vehicle development plans and launches a “strategic shift.”

Berlin hospitals threatened by spate of attacks

The Berlin Hospital Association (BKG) has issued a warning describing a spate of seemingly “inexplicable incidents” at hospitals and health care facilities in the capital. These range from drone incursions over hospital grounds and cyberattacks to forced entry and arson.

The BKG said Germany’s security and intelligence services have classified at least some of these attacks as potential acts of hybrid warfare. The protection of health care facilities is “no longer a purely internal matter for hospitals, but a task that must be addressed together with the security services,” according to the BKG.

For security reasons, the BKG told DW that it could not disclose exactly where the incidents it refers to in the statement took place. The “growing hybrid threat” had prompted the BKG to raise awareness among Berlin hospitals to establish effective self-protection, it said.

U.S. would ‘absolutely not’ drop all tariffs if Canada did same: Bessent

The Trump administration would “absolutely not” eliminate all of its tariffs on Canada if Ottawa did the same for American goods, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Thursday, citing Canada’s recent trade agreement with China and the threat of Chinese electric vehicles.

During testimony in front of the U.S. Senate banking committee, Republican Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana asked Bessent to explain the rationale behind the administration’s tariff strategy.

Kennedy said his understanding is that the “foremost reason” for the tariffs is trying to “stop other countries from taking advantage of us” through their own trade barriers.

U.S. Dealers In Full Panic Mode After Canada Green-Lights Chinese Cars

If you feel like Chinese cars are suddenly right around the corner, you’re not alone. The notion has received a groundswell of both direct and indirect support lately, and as affordable new cars drop like flies from U.S. lineups, American consumers are becoming more open-minded about the prospect of allowing Chinese OEMs to enter the market.

Given the political climate, it’s no wonder that dealers feel caught a bit off-guard by this development. And now they’re getting vocal about it.

Fiscal watchdog warns defence targets will mean soaring deficits

OTTAWA — Canada’s fiscal watchdog projects that the Carney government’s commitment to increase defence spending to at least 5 per cent of the economy will increase the federal deficit by $63 billion a year over the next decade, almost twice what the deficit is currently expected to average over the next few years.

In a new report published Thursday, Jason Jacques, the interim Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO), said the fiscal effect of meeting Ottawa’s commitment to hit the new NATO target of 5 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) will ramp up gradually over the next decade and will eventually hike the federal debt-to-GDP ratio by 6.3 percentage points in 2035.

WTF?

The Original Ad is below and it has not been well received. Frankly it comes across like those UK and German ads that inexplicably blame White males & not migrants for Europe’s tsunami of sexual assaults.

How Iran plans to go to war with the US – and win

Iran has revealed its vision for war with the United States, detailing how it would overcome the world’s most powerful military and hold the global economy to ransom.

In a detailed battle plan published by Tasnim, the news agency affiliated to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC), Iran’s leadership envisages strikes on US bases, new fronts opened up by proxy allies, cyber warfare and the paralysis of the global oil trade. Middle Eastern geography would win out against American technology, Iran insists.

King Charles heckled over Andrew and Epstein during royal visit

The King was heckled by members of the public about his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, during an official visit to Essex on Thursday.

One man was heard to ask whether the King had urged the police to investigate Andrew. Charles did not appear to hear the question, which was shouted during a walkabout with the Queen.

Another person was heard to ask whether the royal family would help with the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, the paedophile financier who was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell in 2019.

I don’t see an end to the Monarchy today.

Ottawa Scraps EV Mandate, Aims to Reach 90 Percent EV Adoption Through Emissions Regulations

Prime Minister Mark Carney says he will abolish the electric vehicle mandate while replacing it with emissions regulations that he says will achieve a similar objective of reaching widespread EV adoption by consumers.

Carney announced on Feb. 5 that Ottawa will repeal the electric vehicle mandate that would have required automakers to produce and sell only electric vehicles by 2035. Instead, Carney said the government will put in place tougher greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions standards for model years 2027 to 2032. The revised aim is to reach an EV adoption rate of 75 percent by 2035 and 90 percent by 2040.
