Toronto – A newly released report authored by economist Ross McKitrick exposes the true cost to Canadians of the Trudeau government’s new Clean Fuel Standard, dubbed Canada’s “Second Carbon Tax.”
This new tax will be expensive. According to the report released by LFX Associates, Economic Analysis of the 2022 Federal Clean Fuels Standard, household energy costs will increase by 2.2 to 6.5% a year per household. In real money terms this will mean an extra tax of $1,277 a year per worker.
I have not watched in detail thus far the inquiry into the invocation of the Emergencies Act. As a reasonable caution.

In his Proclamation on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, 2022, which the progressive Left is striving to make a federal holiday in lieu of Columbus Day, President Joe Biden proclaimed that “we celebrate indigenous history and our new beginning together, honoring Native Americans for shaping the contours of this country since time immemorial.”
In addition, the Biden administration has embraced the progressive Left’s oppressor versus oppressed paradigm. This means casting “indigenous peoples,” or “Native Americans,” as the completely innocent victims of exploitation by white explorers, colonists, settlers, and government officials. This has all the markings of the infamous 1619 Project, which places slavery at the center of America’s history and claims that its continuing legacy is an America that remains systemically racist.
Another schoolgirl has reportedly been killed by the Iranian security services after she was beaten in her classroom for refusing to sing a pro-regime song when her school was raided last week, sparking further protests across the country this weekend.
According to the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations, 16-year-old Asra Panahi died after security forces raided the Shahed girls high school in Ardabil on 13 October and demanded a group of girls sing an anthem that praises Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Can Ukraine sustain a war effort that is proceeding far better than most military analysts ever expected? Part of that answer, of course, depends on the extent to which the Ukrainian army can keep their troops in the field equipped, supplied, and motivated. That challenge comes as the Russian military increasingly relies on so-called “kamikaze drones” to strike deep into Ukrainian territory (on October 17, a Russian drone attack killed four people in Kyiv during the morning rush hour).
When one surveys the current culture of the West, one can only conclude that it flows from the broken mind of man, that is, Western man. For we are now, with few exceptions, a broken people, and our culture reflects the fractured symmetry of what we once felt as a reasonably cohesive and unified way of being in the world, a mode of largely unformulated understandings experienced as normal.
The sense of the normal has now become unnatural — destabilized, confused, incoherent, bizarre, even grotesque. This is why our future as a nation and, in a greater supervening perspective, as a civilization has grown increasingly precarious.
A Russian analyst who worked on a discredited dossier linking Donald Trump to Russia has been found not guilty of lying to the FBI.
The Department of Justice charged Igor Danchenko, 43, as part of a probe into the FBI’s inquiry into whether Mr Trump colluded with Russia to win in 2016.
The so-called Steele dossier was used by the FBI to obtain surveillance warrants on a top Trump aide.
Mr Danchenko was accused of lying to agents about the dossier’s sources.

OTTAWA – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Ontario Premier Doug Ford of hiding from his responsibilities during the Freedom Convoy protests, according to a readout of a private call with Ottawa’s Mayor Jim Watson.
The readout of the February 8 call between Watson and Trudeau is not an exact transcript, but was presented at the ongoing Emergencies Act Inquiry as Watson testified on the protests that overwhelmed Ottawa in February.
