Dominican Republic starts work on border wall with Haiti

The Dominican Republic has begun work on a border wall with Haiti, sparking controversy between the neighbouring Caribbean countries.

Construction began this week on a concrete barrier that will span nearly half of the 244-mile (392km) border between the two countries, with Dominican officials claiming it will reduce flows of migrants, drugs, weapons and contraband.

“The benefit for both nations will be of great importance,” said the Dominican president, Luis Abinader, in a statement given at a ground-breaking ceremony in the Dominican border town of Dajabón, adding that the first phase of the project should be completed within nine months.

You’d think there’d be a bigger outcry.

Chinese Censorship on American Soil

Billionaire tech investor David Sacks recently summed up the present state of Communist Chinese intimidation of American business, sports leagues like the NBA, and anyone else with commercial interests in China. He sees it getting worse, not better.

Appearing on a podcast hosted by former Fox News anchor and NBC talk show host Megyn Kelly, Sacks was asked to address the backlash against his friend, Chamath Palihapitiya, for saying “no one cares” about repression and ethnic cleansing of the Uyghurs by China’s communist regime. Sacks told Kelly he accepts his friend’s later explanation that his words simply came out wrong. But Sacks’s larger response to the question of Chinese intimidation really hit the nail on the head:

“The CCP is essentially depriving Americans of their free speech rights – not in China, but on American soil – as a condition of doing business over there.”

Abandoned US arms fueling militancy in Pakistan

PESHAWAR – Sophisticated military weapons abandoned by retreating US and NATO forces in Afghanistan are now openly for sale at thriving illegal weapons markets in tribal areas along the Pakistan-Afghan border.

Those markets are where several militant, separatist and terror groups operating in Pakistan against state forces shop for their wares, evidenced in recent attacks on Pakistani security forces where militants used advanced Western weapons.

Public polling on His Fraudulency Joe Biden’s inept mishandling of the crisis in Ukraine could not be worse or more justified.

Furious Putin prepares to use ‘father of all bombs’

Russia could use savage superweapons that vaporize bodies and crush internal organs if their assault of Ukraine becomes bogged down, Western officials warned tonight.

They fear Vladimir Putin could resort to high-power thermobaric weapons – dubbed the ‘father of all bombs’ – as brave Ukrainians resist his attempts to take control of Kyiv.

There are also concerns that units that are running behind schedule as they encounter stiff opposition could resort to indiscriminate shelling as a terror weapon.

Time to scrap entitlements for former G-Gs

Julie Payette must feel like she won the lottery.

Despite resigning in shame from her posting as governor general amidst allegations of creating a toxic workplace, she is still entitled to the Cadillac of all retirement packages, courtesy of all of us, taxpayers.

Our political class robs us blind because we let them. That’s why they were scared shitless when the Truckers descended on Ottawa.

Trump Knew How to Handle Putin. Biden Has No Clue.

It took only one year for our fearless leader to plunge us into chaos on a global scale.

Sometimes we need time to pass and distance to extend to gain fuller perspective on what we did not see contemporaneously from too close. Indeed, G-d tells Moses that no person can see His face (which I teach as meaning an up-close encounter) and live, but people can see the back of G-d’s head (which I teach as meaning a more distant previous encounter, growing ever more distant). See Exodus 33:18-23.

CBC runs cover for Junior’s lame sanctions: “Sanctions may work with time — but right now, Ukraine is on its own”

The adjectives flew fast and furious on Thursday as Western allies — Canada included — described the latest round of sanctions aimed at Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.

Severe. Harsh. Punishing. Massive.

Each package was delivered with precision and conviction by every nation — despite the growing skepticism among foreign policy experts about their potential in the short term to halt the bloody offensive that began overnight.

Keep buying Russian Oil Junior that’ll show em.

Sanctions Are Not Enough

Ever since last year, when Vladimir Putin began preparing for an invasion of Ukraine, President Biden has tried to deter him. Biden tried to reason with the Russian autocrat. He released declassified intelligence to rally the world against the imminent threat. He supported French president Emmanuel Macron’s last-ditch attempt at diplomacy. He warned Russia that a war would be met with harsh economic sanctions.

Nothing worked. Negotiations failed. So-called “deterrence through disclosure” had no effect. The threat of punishment carried no weight. The invasion began in the early hours of February 24. The largest military action undertaken on the continent of Europe since World War II is underway. Anyone who pretends to know what will happen next is kidding themselves.

Yet Another Toronto Jewish Teacher Greeted with Hitler Salutes

TORONTO – For the third time this month, students at a Toronto public elementary school have performed the Hitler salute in class, this time targeting a Jewish teacher in a Grade 6 classroom.

The latest incident occurred Thursday at Pleasant Public School in North York, Ont. The victim, a substitute teacher who regularly works at the school, was approached in the classroom by two male students who performed the salute and kept their arms raised for a lengthy period despite the teacher’s request to stop.

“They knew exactly what they were doing,” the teacher told B’nai Brith. “I felt attacked. They kept their hands up for a long time. It was blatant and so obvious.”

Poilievre’s supporters push for a swift race to choose next Conservative leader

Supporters of Pierre Poilievre’s bid for the Conservative Party leadership are calling on the party’s caucus and one member of its Leadership Election Organizing Committee (LEOC) to hold the race quickly.

Conservative New Brunswick MP John Williamson sent an email Wednesday to all Conservative MPs calling for a vote no later than July 1.

“It is my belief we should have a leader in place for the start of summer, which for me is ahead of Canada Day,” Williamson says in the email, obtained by CBC News. “That’s four months from now, giving the leadership contenders ample time to campaign and sign up new members.

Ukraine conflict: What is Swift and why are leaders divided on banning Russia? – Because they love Russian oil!

The UK repeated calls on Friday for Russia to be banned from the Swift payment network, which is pivotal for the smooth transaction of money worldwide.

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace told the BBC: “Britain wants the Swift system to be turned off for Russia. But unfortunately the Swift system is not in our control. It is not a unilateral decision.”

Banning Russia from the system – which is used by thousands of banks – would hit the country’s banking network and access to funds.

But many governments fear it would hurt their own economies and companies because buying oil and gas from Russia, for example, would be disrupted.

Canada imports Russian Oil. Half a billion dollars worth in 2019. Quebec and the Maritimes, Liberal Party strongholds, likely benefit.
