‘Deliver or Die’: Inside the Drug-Boat Crews Ferrying Cocaine to the U.S.

CALI, Colombia—They see themselves as the cowboys of the drug trade, highly experienced crews that ferry narcotics on small boats across the open seas, running on a mix of bravado, skill and dreams of a massive payday.

Now, designated as terrorists by the Trump administration, they face not only the perils of a capricious sea but the new danger of getting blown out of the water by the U.S. military. The trade’s unofficial motto—“deliver or die”—has never rung so true.

Three men who have manned these drug boats, known as “go fasts,” spoke to The Wall Street Journal, describing a once little-known but essential part of the narcotics trade that is now in President Trump’s sights.

HANNAFORD: Ottawa blinks as Smith forces historic energy retreat

History of a sort was made in Calgary today — and not the kind anyone saw coming. Premier Danielle Smith and Prime Minister Mark Carney stood side by side and signed a memorandum of understanding that tears up the federal clean-electricity regulations for Alberta, kills the oil-and-gas emissions cap once and for all, and commits both governments to a new west-coast export corridor, co-owned with indigenous partners, dedicated to shipping what used to be called “ethical oil.”

Or, as Mr. Carney now calls it — “decarbonized oil.”

Most Liberals believe Poilievre’s their ticket to remain in government

OTTAWA–The drama of a budget vote had every political animal in the country on the edge of their seat.

And in the end, it was a cliffhanger. But in reality, the outcome should not have been a surprise to anyone.

Having just come off an election this past spring, there was zero appetite to go back to the polls for most political parties.

The only leader who could have benefited from an election is Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre. A ‘no’ vote would have meant that his mandated January 2026 party review would be cancelled.

Afghan terror and Somalia fraud shows why Trump is right on migrants

You have to be careful with a country. Even a nation as vast in size and huge in population as the United States cannot be endlessly experimented upon. You cannot just leave borders open, or allow in large numbers of people with totally different value systems from your own.

That is the mistake many European countries have committed in recent years. They have opened their homes up to people from almost every part of the world where there is civil strife, war or just a lower standard of living.

Canada is climbing out of Trump’s frying pan and into Xi’s fire

If Aesop was right that “a man is known by the company he keeps,” then Prime Minister Mark Carney and his government may be due for severe judgment.

Late last month, Carney met with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation summit in South Korea, and accepted an invitation to visit China. Carney called the moment a “turning point” in the relationship. This follows the announcement that Beijing and Ottawa agreed to revive a “strategic partnership,” as Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand described it, after meeting with her counterpart in China earlier in October. The Canada-China relationship is heating up quickly.

If nothing else, Danielle Smith is a disruptor

Every so often a Canadian politician comes along and decides he or she is ready to challenge the orthodoxy. In the 1950s and 1960s, it was Saskatchewan Premier Tommy Douglas, who insisted that universal, publicly funded medical care was possible in Canada, despite strong opposition from health care providers, which culminated in a doctors’ strike.

In the 1980s and 1990s, it was NDP MP Svend Robinson, who introduced a private member’s bill to legalize same-sex marriage years before it would actually become law (he was also the first openly gay MP). And roughly 10 years ago, it was then-Conservative leadership hopeful Maxime Bernier, who centred his candidacy on a pledge to scrap Canada’s supply management system for milk, eggs and poultry. Mr. Bernier lost the leadership because of it.

Trump Derangement Explained: The Tragedy of the Unripped Bodice.

In my last post I used the metaphor of a sound system to explain how normal people with no particular prejudice or animus have been swayed by exposure to the rants of haters, propaganda and social pressure into a flash mob of antisemitism and self righteous anger. I posited the existence of a mental state in which extreme stimulation results in the excitement of brain activity so great that it exceeds a person’s capacity to process it normally. Past that limit thought and behavior is subject to distortion. I called it Cognitive Distortion as it is clearly a more powerful variant of Cognitive Dissonance In case you missed that post it just the last one before this. But first, a story…

Pope Leo, slashing the throats of Jews and Christians is not due to the economy

This week, another Christian school was attacked, 300 children kidnapped. The reaction of the media and the world is indifference, while Pope Leo is in denial.

Manga is a Christian in Nigeria, the most dangerous place in the world for Christians, the country where a Christian is killed every two hours. Manga was supposed to be one of them. He was returning home as usual after university. His mother was preparing dinner. Terrorists burst into his house. They dragged Manga, his father, and his brother outside, while his mother and younger siblings hid in a room.

Qatar’s Campus Conquest: Importing Muslim Brotherhood Policies in a War for the Future of the West

Qatar continues to conduct one of the most extensive foreign influence operations in modern history.
