The DOJ has had the laptop’s contents since December 2019, just over four years ago, when this evidence was delivered to the FBI. The revelation came in a “Justice” Department filing on Tuesday.

Noah is right that the Oversight Committee Democrats’ defense of Hunter is frivolous. They claim that since the subpoena demanded Hunter’s appearance for testimony and since he showed up yesterday claiming to be prepared to testify, the contempt is “cured” (meaning, the House should deem the initial failure to comply as rectified by subsequent compliance). But a contempt can conceivably be cured only by compliance with the terms of the directive that has been flouted — in this instance, an Oversight Committee subpoena. I say “conceivably” because belated compliance with a subpoena is a cure only if it would put the investigative body in the same position that it would be in if compliance had been timely. (For instance, if the delay causes investigators to lose access to evidence, then belated compliance is not a cure.)

Hunter Biden made a surprise — and brief — appearance Wednesday at a House Oversight Committee hearing where members were debating a resolution holding him in contempt of Congress.

Kevin Morris, a Hollywood lawyer who made a fortune from a South Park TV deal, was dubbed Hunter’s ‘sugar brother’ after he reportedly paid off up to $2.8 million of the First Son’s tax bill in an attempt to placate prosecutors.
Hunter Biden received a staggering $4.9 million from Morris, an IRS whistleblower claimed in December, to help cover Biden’s housing, legal fees, car payments and payments to advisors, most of which came in October 2021.
One hazard of political campaigns is the unseen junction — a key moment that nobody recognizes at the time.
Such a moment came for Democrats on April 19, via a letter to Congress about the federal probe into President Biden’s son Hunter.

Democrats and their friends in the news media have temporarily moved on from the tiresome “Donald Trump is a threat to democracy!” storyline to the all-too-original “Trump is Hitler!”
Making this effort particularly unique, they’re so open about the coordination. The media are usually at least partially discreet about deceiving, lying, and manipulating, but for reasons unclear they’re all perfectly fine with this episode being a transparent conspiracy between the White House and the Washington press.

Earlier today, Beege beat me to the Axios story based on leaks from current and former White House aides about Biden’s lack of self-awareness about his age. Supposedly these aides feel that Biden’s problem is that he’s trying to do too much, even while claiming that the 81-year-old Dotard in Chief is “extraordinarily energetic for his age.” That falls into the realm of gaslighting, as anyone who’s watched Joe Biden in public can attest.
