Donald Trump wants to buy Greenland, own Gaza, take back ownership of the Panama Canal and turn Canada into the 51st state. The President is a liar and a con artist, but his desire to occupy vast parts of the planet does not seem a bluff or a negotiating tactic.
But why Canada? The United States dominates north-south trade and plays a leading role in many Canadian industries, including oil, mining, autos and retailing. It buys any product or commodity it wants from Canada with ease. Economically, if not politically, Canada is in effect the 51st state, has been forever. But there is one crucial commodity that the United States does not have access to: water.
In the face of uncertainty about Canada’s relationship with the United States, some have been proposing an alternative path: backing away from the Americans a bit and joining the European Union.
The 27-state economic and political group includes a variety of countries with which Canada already has close economic, historic and political ties, including France and Germany. Notably, however, the United Kingdom, the country to which Canada perhaps owes its largest debt, left the EU in 2020.
The EU is more anti-democratic, more corrupt, woke and crazy than the Liberal government. Hard as that may be to believe.
Liberal leadership candidate Mark Carney would do the best job at negotiating with U.S. President Donald Trump, over Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, and fellow leadership candidates Chrystia Freeland and Karina Gould, according to new polling from Nanos Research conducted for CTV News.
When asked “Which of the following politicians would do the best job at negotiating with U.S. president Donald Trump?”, two out of five, or 40 per cent of respondents, answered Mark Carney.

Chrystia Freeland’s Liberal leadership campaign has been targeted by “co-ordinated and malicious activity” traced back to a WeChat account accused of having ties to the Chinese government, according to the task force set up to monitor foreign election interference.
According to the Security and Intelligence Threats to Elections Task Force (SITE), which is made up of senior intelligence and security officials, the activity was traced to WeChat’s “most popular news account — an anonymous blog that has been previously linked by experts at the China Digital Times to the People’s Republic of China.”
My bet is Trudeau and Carney ordered this up.

Nearly 20,000 Indian students have failed to enrol at their designated colleges and universities after arriving in Canada. This has raised significant concerns about immigration fraud and the misuse of the student visa system.
