If Justin Trudeau really wants to be re-elected, there’s one question he needs to stop dodging

Justin Trudeau got a bit of a reprieve this summer from the questions about whether he was staying on to fight the next election.

Two months since those questions rose to a fever pitch after the Liberals’ loss of their St. Paul’s seat in Toronto, Trudeau and his team are probably thinking they rode out that storm — as they have ridden out so many storms over the past decade.

“This too shall pass” is an integral part of the Trudeau crisis-management method.

Canada Reliant on China for Copper to Achieve Lower Carbon Emissions Goals: Report

Canada’s goal of reducing carbon emissions cannot be achieved without relying on China, a new energy industry report says.

The key to success is copper, an essential component of electrification, according to the authors of “Securing Copper Supply: no China, no energy transition,” published by data and analytics firm Wood Mackenzie.

China dominates in the smelting and refining of copper, which is essential to creating tools needed for cleaner energy and reduced carbon emissions, the report says.

Canada rail shutdown threatens US supply chains

Crucial supply chains are under threat across North America after a rail labour dispute in Canada led to shutdown of freight traffic on the country’s two largest railways.

Canadian National Railway (CN) and Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), locked out nearly 9,300 workers after midnight on Thursday (04:00 GMT), after failing to clinch a late deal with the Teamsters union.

Canada sends around 75% of all the goods it exports to the US, mostly over rail. A prolonged dispute could disrupt shipments of a wide range of goods, from grains and beans to potash, coal and timber.

Woman Lost for 4 Days in Colorado Mountains Is Rescued

Gina Chase went camping with an organization that recommended participants fast and discouraged cellphones during a spiritual retreat, the authorities said.

A Canadian woman was rescued over the weekend after she got lost in the Colorado mountains for four days as part of a guided spiritual “quest,” according to a local sheriff’s department, which said that participants had been encouraged to fast and discouraged from bringing cellphones.

The woman, Gina Chase, 53, of Victoria, British Columbia, was camping near the San Miguel Mountains of Colorado with 10 others through the Animas Valley Institute, an organization based in Durango, Colo., that emphasizes the spiritual value of being alone in nature, the San Miguel County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post. Around 11 a.m. on Aug. 14, Ms. Chase embarked on a “solo journey” near Lone Cone Peak but was reported missing around 2 p.m. the next day after she did not return to camp, the sheriff’s office said.

Food bank temporarily turns people away after running out of food

Summer is a time when many people take a break, but a local food bank says they learned the hard way recently that hunger does not go on holiday.

The Salvation Army Food Bank in Brant County says it had to temporarily turn some people away from its Paris location because the shelves were empty.

They’ve since been restocked, but high demand means the supply may not last long.

The situation is more pronounced in the summer – a time of year where people don’t typically donate as often.

Jesse Kline: The Canadian terrorist supporter who Iran loves

Samidoun Bitch Charlotte Kates

There are some awards that should give recipients pause and make them reconsider their life choices. Like receiving a Razzie Award for worst actor, a Grand Cross of the German Eagle from the Nazis or a human rights award from the Islamic Republic of Iran. But for Canadian terror apologist Charlotte Kates, the Iranian regime’s recognition of her anti-Israel campaign is considered a badge of honour.

‘That’s wild’: Luxury condo for consul general in New York was not approved by Treasury Board

OTTAWA — The purchase of the new residence of Canada’s consul general in New York by Global Affairs Canada was not approved by the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) because it was just below the threshold that jumped to $10 million in 2022.

On Tuesday, senior public servants from TBS and Public Works were called to the first of three meetings of a House of Commons committee to explain the government’s recent decision to buy a $9-million luxury condo on Manhattan’s “Billionaire’s Row.”

Sabrina Maddeaux: Canada can’t cynically rebrand temporary foreign workers and call it a day

In the span of just over a year, immigration went from a political non-starter to regular headline news. Now, just about everybody–including the federal Liberals–agrees immigration simply can’t continue as is. Unfortunately, “can’t continue as is” is manifesting more as a rebranding exercise than a substantial policy overhaul.

In 2022, the federal government dramatically expanded the low-wage Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) stream, which predictably resulted in exploitative working conditions, surging youth unemployment, and stagnant wage growth. The Wild Westification of the program has been bad for Canadians and newcomers alike.

Trudeau’s inflation means you’re poorer than you think

You’re poorer than you think.

That’s the message from a Statistics Canada report that looked at the impact of inflation on after-tax family income. The report, issued Monday, showed that median after-tax family income in 2022 rose by 2.5% to $60,800.

The bad news is inflation wiped out that out, meaning families were worse off.

Liberals hope to import enough foreigners to secure election victories in 2029 and beyond

Liberals go hog wild on immigration, hoping to secure victory in 2029 and beyond

You would think a government that’s down 20 points might want to telegraph an aura of sanity, rather than spend its days finding new ways to eviscerate an immigration policy that has served Canada well since Lester Pearson led the Liberal party.

In a vacuum, some of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s changes might seem justified: whether it be the streamlined $7 electronic visas, or broadening refugee claims beyond the U.N.’s definition of those facing “persecution” to include accumulated “intersectional” experiences.

Why this sounds like the Great Replacement!

The Star is now publishing content on immigration that would have had them calling you a racist 1 or 2 years ago.

U.S. military announces $20M US grant to build cobalt refinery in Ontario

The U.S. military has made its largest move so far in a novel national-security effort to fund mining initiatives in Canada.

The Pentagon on Tuesday announced a $20 million US grant to create a cobalt refinery in northern Ontario’s Temiskaming Shores. The money will go to the Toronto-based Electra Battery Materials Corporation; the government of Canada is adding $3.6 million US ($4.9 million Cdn) of its own to the project.

Do they not know the US Military is armed?
