NDP pushing Liberals to recognize state of Palestine as U.K., U.S. signal openness

Palestinians. Casual get together,

New Democrats are calling on the Liberal government to have Canada formally recognize Palestine as a state, saying it would help advance peace in the Middle East.

“It’s time for Canada to do more, to build a peaceful resolution for the people of Palestine and the people of Israel,” NDP foreign affairs critic Heather McPherson said Tuesday.

McPherson will table a private member’s motion in the House of Commons that would recognize Palestinian territories as a sovereign state.

Trudeau is not afraid to spend your money to secure the Islamist vote: Ottawa cancels $440,000-a-week rescue ship for Lebanon

The federal government paid to have a “high-speed” ship on stand-by to evacuate Canadians in Lebanon, then later canceled the $440,000-a-week contract after five weeks, deciding it wasn’t needed after all, officials say.

Joining with one or more other countries to put the ship on retainer — and later scrapping the deal — underscores the tricky logistical and political challenges Ottawa faces around the conflict on Israel’s border with Lebanon.

Russian-Canadian woman, 32, admits helping her husband send $7MILLION worth of drone and guided missile parts to Moscow

A Russian-Canadian national has admitted scheming to violate US sanctions by exporting $7 million in weapons to the Russian military for use in the Ukraine war.

Kristina Puzyreva, 32, pleaded guilty in a Brooklyn court to money laundering as part of a shadowy global conspiracy to send technology to blacklisted entities in Moscow.

Exports included components used in unnamed aerial vehicles (UAVs) and guided missile systems which were later found to have been used in Ukraine.

Seems like she gets things done, maybe put her in charge of procurement for the armed forces.

Migrants Face Cold, Perilous Crossing From Canada to New York Fleeing Trudeau’s Canada

In a dilapidated farm shed in New York’s rural North Country, the belongings of a migrant family who quietly took shelter one night were still visible months later: some clothing and children’s shoes, stiffened by the cold and a thin blanket of snow.

Thomas Brassard recalled his surprise when he saw the family — a husband, wife and two children — emerge from the shed as he started his truck in the early morning.

The way you park could be making illegal alien benefit shoppers homeless say experts who really just want to ban private cars.

Could the way Canadians park vehicles be part of the housing crisis?

It’s no secret that Canada is facing a major housing shortage. But could the sheer amount of space used for parking vehicles be part of the problem?

A recent Re/Max report looking at participation in the housing market said the “vast majority” of lower-priced properties in the Greater Toronto Area are parking spaces, and that most of the 250 ‘properties’ listed for sale under the $400,000 price point are parking spaces, lockers and vacant land.

For housing advocates, it touched on a longtime frustration

Governments can ease the cost-of-living crisis – they just don’t want to

Canadian governments have the power to make life more affordable. But in some sectors of the economy, they just don’t want to.

Supply-chain issues, pent-up demand and interest rate hikes have all helped boost prices in the past couple of years, as the market reacts to a world recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Governments have tried to ease these problems, with tax relief or short-term programs.

John Ivison: Justin Trudeau needs to wake up to Donald Trump’s reckless new world disorder

The world appears to be drifting inexorably towards catastrophe but you wouldn’t know it from watching the House of Commons, where momentous global events are subordinated to the relative domestic trivia of car thefts and carbon taxes.

What will it take to rouse Canadian politicians from their torpor?

How about the candidate who is odds on to be the next president of the United States indicating in a speech that he will give Vladimir Putin free rein in Europe, if he is elected?

The TDS is strong in Ivison.

Her car was stolen 3 times in the past year. She says consumers shouldn’t bear the brunt of the problem

A Toronto woman whose car was stolen three times in the past year — and who had a rental car stolen too — says nobody is taking the problem seriously enough.

Kristin Shensel, a real estate broker, said her 2019 Range Rover was stolen three times since January 2023 from the street in front of her house. A rental car she used last year, a Jaguar, was also stolen.

Her car was first stolen in January 2023, then again in June 2023 and again on Wednesday night. The rental car was stolen two days after she got it in February 2023.

Does better anti-theft security mean a higher consumer price?

Trump slammed over threat to ‘encourage’ attacks on deadbeat NATO members … Привет Canada!

Former US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he would “encourage” Russia to attack members of NATO who had not met their financial obligations, in remarks that the White House rejected as “appalling and unhinged.”

Speaking at a campaign rally in South Carolina Saturday, the Republican presidential nomination frontrunner appeared to recount a conversation with a fellow head of state at an unspecified NATO meeting.

“One of the presidents of a big country stood up and said, ‘Well, sir, if we don’t pay, and we’re attacked by Russia, will you protect us?’ I said, ‘You didn’t pay, you’re delinquent?'”

“No, I would not protect you. In fact, I would encourage them to do whatever the hell they want. You got to pay. You got to pay your bills.”

This is why people love Trump.

Demands for Canada to stop supplying weapons to Israel grow louder

Montreal, Canada – Human rights advocates are accusing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s government of misleading the public over weapons sales to Israel, which have come under greater scrutiny amid the deadly Israeli bombardment of Gaza.

At issue is legislation that prohibits the government from exporting military equipment to foreign actors if there is a risk it can be used in human rights abuses.
