SLOBODIAN: It’s not just Trudeau who has to go, it’s all of them

Well, well, the ‘Trudeau must resign’ momentum continues to build. Most notably from the pack that ran with him for nine years while this ideological, commie-loving nitwit ravenously gnawed at Canada’s strengths, rights and freedoms, prosperity, and national security.

But beware of the beta wolves, his good lieutenants, who are now menacingly circling the dancing Swiftie alpha leader. These wolves merely rented sheep’s clothing. They worry about one thing and it’s not you. It’s their own survival.

Winnipeg’s Ben Carr becomes 1st Manitoba Liberal MP to call for Trudeau to step down as party leader

Winnipeg South Centre MP Ben Carr is calling for a change of leadership in the federal Liberal party, becoming the first Manitoba Liberal member of Parliament to call for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to step down.

“I do not arrive at this decision easily, nor do I make it happily,” Carr said in a letter to his constituents on Friday afternoon.

“I felt somehow as though I would be betraying my party,” he said. “As time has passed, however, and the further I reflected on the conversations I have had with those I represent, I concluded that it is in fact the opposite.”

Freeland emerges as the Liberals best bet in a tough election landscape

As Prime Minister Justin Trudeau begins 2025 with his future plans unclear, the governing Liberal Party struggles with plummeting approval ratings and dwindling voter support.

A new poll from the Angus Reid Institute suggests that Chrystia Freeland, the former finance minister who resigned in December, could offer a glimmer of hope as the party considers its next steps.

‘The silence is deafening’: Liberal MPs say time’s up for Trudeau to face Canadians on his future

OTTAWA — With Prime Minister Justin Trudeau returning from vacation on Friday, some Liberal MPs say the time has arrived for him to face Canadians and say whether or not he intends to resign.

Trudeau has spent the past two weeks since former finance minister Chrystia Freeland’s stunning resignation largely out of the public eye, at first staying behind closed doors and then setting off on his annual Christmas vacation, this time to B.C. Trudeau had said he would use the time to reflect on his future.

CHARLEBOIS: Canada needs ‘axe the tax’ election but not for reasons you think

For several years, the Conservative slogan “Axe The Tax” has resonated with Canadians, driven by the belief that the carbon tax has exacerbated the cost of living.

When it comes to food, however, the reality is far more nuanced. Canada has been sleepwalking through this policy issue for years, leaving the public narrative to carbon-tax-supporting academics and politicians who reassure Canadians that everything will improve as the economy decarbonizes.

Toronto’s high housing costs may be pushing immigrants out: report

The number of immigrants who choose to stay in Toronto five years after getting here is declining, Statistics Canada says, and one of the possible reasons why will likely not come as a surprise to most.

In a report released last month, the federal agency said it is seeing a “downward trend” in the five-year retention rate of immigrants in the country’s top three urban centres: Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver.

Trudeau Lied: Corporate Welfare Class Continues To Flood Nation With Temporary Foreign Workers

Demand for temporary foreign workers across Canada continued to rise last year, and experts don’t expect that to stop anytime soon — despite restrictions to the program introduced in September.

Third-quarter numbers from 2024, the most recent data available, show Canada approved 50,971 temporary foreign worker (TFW) positions July through September, up from 50,059 during the same period in 2023, according to figures from Employment and Social Development Canada.

He is intent on causing as much damage as possible to Canada before he is forced out. He and his Crony Capitalist thieves should be jailed.

Who is looking out for Canada’s interests?

There is much reporting about the backstabbing and dysfunction within Justin Trudeau’s government and endless “will he, won’t he” speculation about whether the Prime Minister will resign. But one question is conspicuously absent from the conversation: Who is looking out for Canada’s interests?

It is not the current government, which is in such turmoil that it is barely breathing, let alone governing. Its fall budget, masquerading as an economic statement, was basically dead on bizarre arrival, tabled minister-less and loveless in the House. Its lifespan is measured in weeks from when Parliament resumes, given the public statements of the Conservatives, NDP and Bloc Québécois to vote no-confidence. The Liberals’ prospects in the election that will ensue, according to the polls, are somewhere between bleak and Armageddon.

Geoff Russ: Liberal excuses for their unpopularity fall as flat as their poll numbers

Nothing is guaranteed in politics, but for the Conservatives, the road back to power appears nearly complete. And it’s not due to a general anti-incumbency trend or voter fatigue, as some Liberal backers and apologists have suggested, to explain away their government’s failures and the resulting enmity felt towards their leader.

For mentally stubborn Liberals, returning to reality requires accepting that Trudeau’s charisma and surname will not mask his legacy of failure.

H-1B: The Cautionary Tale of Canada

Recently, a fierce battle over the H-1B Visa Program erupted on X. In one corner, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, a big believer in the program, where tech companies pay less for non-American talent. Indians (dot, not feather) have been primary participants. In the other corner, the MAGA Base, who believe in America First, and to hell with immigration, legal or otherwise. For them, H-1B was just another cog in the Population Replacement wheel.

Chrystia Freeland reaches out to Liberal MPs as speculation swirls about Justin Trudeau’s future

OTTAWA — Former finance minister Chrystia Freeland has been calling Liberal MPs in the wake of her bombshell resignation that preceded the latest and biggest wave of pressure so far on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to step down.

Several MPs, speaking on condition of anonymity, told the Star that Freeland has reached out and spoken to them in recent days.

While the MPs said Freeland did not bring up the Liberal leadership, one of them felt the calls were connected to a potential leadership run, while another said they were “impressed” by the outreach.

Possible scenarios that could play out in Ottawa as the Liberal government teeters

OTTAWA – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is said to be reflecting on his future over the holidays after the resignation of his top cabinet minister, Chrystia Freeland, in mid-December. The bombshell move prompted a fresh wave of calls for Trudeau to step down as Liberal leader from inside and outside the caucus.

With MPs set to return to the House of Commons on Jan. 27, the Liberal grip on power appears tenuous. The NDP, which has been a steady ally of the minority government since the 2021 election, is no longer planning to support the Liberals.

Toronto MP and former Liberal cabinet minister Marco Mendicino won’t seek re-election

Marco Mendicino, a prominent Toronto member of Parliament and former minister of public safety and immigration, won’t run in the next federal election, CTV News has learned.

In a lengthy written statement, Mendicino, who has represented the riding of Eglinton-Lawrence since 2015, said it’s “the right time, for me and my family” to step away, and that he will serve out the rest of the session as an MP.

The rats have read the room.
