Governor General Intervention in Current Deadlock Would Set Non-Democratic Precedent

While polls are indicating a significant majority of Canadians feel it’s time for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to move on, citizens are discovering it’s quite difficult to remove an unwilling prime minister from office.

The Bloc Quebecois, the Conservative Party of Canada, and the NDP have now all committed to bringing down the minority Liberal government if given the opportunity to. While not eager for an election, many Liberal MPs are openly calling for Trudeau’s resignation. Despite a collapse of support from all directions, Trudeau has so far not announced a decision, and could conceivably remain there until October 2025.

Atlantic Liberal caucus calls for Trudeau to step down as leader

The Atlantic Liberal caucus is calling on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to step down as party leader.

Following an Atlantic Liberal caucus meeting the morning of December 23, caucus chair Kody Blois wrote a letter to Trudeau, shared Sunday on social media by New Brunswick Liberal MP Wayne Long.

“The discussion this morning centred around the need for you to resign as the Leader of the Liberal Party and to urgently allow for a process to determine a new leader to replace you,” wrote Blois to Trudeau.

‘Pretty limited’ options for Liberal MPs calling for leadership change

As calls mount within the federal Liberal Party for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to step down as leader, one political analyst says there’s little his detractors can do to force his hand.

In a Sunday interview with CTV News Channel, Lori Turnbull of Dalhousie University and the Institute on Governance said the decision remains Trudeau’s at this time, as the party previously removed the option to initiate a leadership change through a majority vote.

Proposal to strip religious groups of charitable tax status would eviscerate Canada’s charities

On that fateful Friday when Ottawa was gearing up for the following Monday’s fall economic statement, all attention was on the finance minister, who, we discovered later, had been fired that very day by the prime minister via Zoom. Justin Trudeau had set something of a time-delayed explosive, not to take effect until after Chrystia Freeland delivered Monday’s statement. But instead she blew up the government. Understandably so.

Jamie Sarkonak: Police associations have had it with Trudeau — to the left’s disdain

The unspoken rules for public servants engaging in civic affairs according to the left is as follows: political engagement is wrong, unless that political engagement favours the left, in which case it’s right.

This December it was broken by two Ontario-based police unions that were exasperated to see more hollow assurances about tackling crime in the fall economic statement. The Liberals promised, for the Nth time, to tighten bail rules and “ensure repeat, violent offenders are held accountable.” Sure, sure.

‘We didn’t turn the taps down fast enough’: Immigration minister wants to save Canada’s consensus on newcomers

OTTAWA — This year brought one of the most significant policy reversals in the Liberal government’s nine years in power: drastically cutting the number of immigrants entering Canada over the next three years.

The dramatic reduction followed months of warnings from economists, corporate banks and even the government’s own officials that Canada’s population growth was outpacing the availability of services and housing, driving up costs.

Student asylum claims soar in wake of international student cap

Nearly a year after the federal government implemented a cap on international students coming to Canada, it’s looking to crack down on students who are falsely claiming asylum to stay in the country.

Cambridge MP Bryan May said the asylum process needs to be reserved for those who need it and those using it as a tool to skip traditional paths to immigration is unacceptable.

Food banks across Ontario expecting higher usage in final year of Trudeau’s criminal misrule

Food banks across Ontario expecting higher usage in 2025

As millions of Canadians struggle with food insecurity, food banks across Ontario continue to see record volumes of visits.

In Toronto, the Daily Bread Food Bank says the need has hit levels not seen in its 41-year history, recording 3.75 million visits this past year.

In 2020, the organization only saw roughly 600,000 clients a year.

India’s trafficking claims against Canadian colleges reveal ‘exploited’ immigration system, experts say

An investigation by Indian officials that alleges dozens of Canadian colleges and universities might be linked to a scheme of illegally ferrying students across the Canada-U.S. border reveals the “staggering” extent to which holes in the immigration system can be exploited, some experts say.

“If the allegations are true, it reveals shocking gaps in our integrity protocols.… This is deeply, deeply concerning and problematic,” Raj Sharma, a Calgary-based immigration lawyer, told CBC News Network, adding that the allegations suggest “wide-scale human smuggling.”

LILLEY: Trump makes patriotism cool again for Canadian elites

Donald Trump has done the unthinkable, he has made patriotism cool again among Canada’s ruling elite.

Yes, people like Justin Trudeau who have described Canada as a postnational, genocidal state with no core identity now want to boast about Canada.

The people of Canada have long wanted our nation’s leaders to stand up for this country. Average Canadians have remained patriotic, it’s our leaders who have lost their way.

Truckers Tikka Masala

On a windswept corner in the center of the Canadian Prairie, a haunting roadside memorial has weathered 6 years of the elements, the sun of northern summer and its likewise dark and cold winters, and the winds which blow all year. Crosses and hockey jerseys stand as sentinels, an analog to the crosses ‘row on row’ one might see in a similar field in Belgium or France, though the battle which the jerseys of these young men mark is purely economic, and the shots fired are silent and mostly unremarked on.

Criminologist Says Canada Should Better Track Foreign Student Departures

A Canadian criminologist who once worked on inland immigration enforcement for the Canada Border Services Agency said Canada needs to better track foreign nationals who arrive in the country on student visas.

Kelly Sundberg, a professor at Mount Royal University, said he was not shocked to hear that Indian law enforcement agencies are investigating links between Canadian colleges and a scheme to ferry international students across the Canada-U. S. border.

“I’m not surprised that our ridiculous honour-based immigration program is being gamed by transnational criminals. That doesn’t surprise me at all,” Sundberg said.

Trudeau proroguing parliament becoming more likely, say strategists

OTTAWA — Will he, or won’t he?

As the Liberals prepare for what’ll undoubtedly be a tumultuous new year, indications are growing stronger that the PM may hit the pause button on parliament.

Andrew Perez, a Liberal Party strategist and principal of Perez Strategies, said that prorogation is almost certainly fait accompli.

Proroguing parliament won’t help Justin but may benefit a new LPC leader to a limited degree but no matter as they’ll still be wiped out come an election.

Shannon Gormley: Canada’s fake feminist prime minister is running out of women to use as props

Eventually, every woman must learn that being nice to an egomaniacal bulls—t artist won’t long protect her from him. It’s too bad Chrystia Freeland had to learn this lesson twice.

Last week, Trump learned that he wouldn’t be able to insult Freeland at the negotiating table anymore, so he insulted her online. Amateur. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau insulted her in her own ministry. No: he got leakers to insult her. He betrayed her, then demanded she betray herself, passing a bad idea of a budget off as her own so as not to embarrass the man he wanted to take her place. Trump’s treatment of women — of the many women who have accused him of sexual assault, of his wives, of Freeland — is hideous, but at least it’s honest in its hideousness. Trudeau’s sexism can feel worse because he pretends to be better.

The author sounds like a fun date. This is the latest effort to whitewash Homolka, I mean Freeland as a saint.
