Ontario reported 1,057 new cases on Saturday, 1,135 new cases on Thursday, 1,095 on Wednesday and 1,039 on Tuesday.
Safe to extend AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine expiry date by 1 more month: experts
Several public health experts say they’re confident that Canada’s current batches of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines would still be safe and effective, despite having their expiry date extended by a month.
In a statement Saturday, Health Canada said the expiry date of two lots of the AstraZeneca vaccine has been extended from May 31 to July 1.
It’s of concern for some who want to know if their nurse is vaccinated, or if the police officer giving them a speeding ticket has been protected from spreading the virus.

In February 2020, Senator Tom Cotton, Republican of Arkansas, asked a provocative question: Was there some relationship between COVID-19 emerging in the Chinese city of Wuhan and the fact that there’s a biochemical lab in the city that specializes in studying coronaviruses? Was it possible that this lab was studying an animal that carried the virus and failed to properly secure it?
“We don’t have evidence that this disease originated there,” Cotton said of the lab, “but because of China’s duplicity and dishonesty from the beginning, we need to at least ask the question to see what the evidence says, and China right now is not giving evidence on that question at all.”
An explosive new study claims that Chinese scientists created COVID-19 in a Wuhan lab, then tried to cover their tracks by reverse-engineering versions of the virus to make it look like it evolved naturally from bats.
The paper’s authors, British Professor Angus Dalgleish and Norwegian scientist Dr. Birger Sørensen, wrote that they have had ‘prima facie evidence of retro-engineering in China’ for a year – but were ignored by academics and major journals.

During an interview on MSNBC, Massachusetts Democrat Sen. Elizabeth Warren said pandemic had presented an opportunity to “expand” how Democrats are trying to define infrastructure.

After months of being dismissed as a fringe conspiracy theory, official support is starting to build for the notion that the COVID-19 pandemic is not a freak accident of nature, but was rather the result of an accidental escape from a Chinese virology lab.

The Silicon Valley giant, which has around 2.85 billion users, had been banning posts that claimed COVID-19 was man-made. But now, according to a company spokesperson, ‘In light of ongoing investigations into the origin of COVID-19 and in consultation with public health experts, we will no longer remove the claim that COVID-19 is man-made from our apps.’
