The Grim Realities Behind the Reiner Murders

Adults who refuse help should be incapacitated through the criminal-justice system.

Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Abigail Folger, Wojciech Frykowski, and Steven Parent in 1969. Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman in 1994. And now, as 2025 comes to a close, Rob Reiner and his wife Michele.

Every era has had its garish Hollywood murder, and each crime reflects its time. Let’s hope that beyond the voyeurism, America learns the lesson behind the Reiner murders: chronic illegal-drug addiction and all-around antisocial behavior are not victimless crimes, and adults who refuse to take help should be incapacitated through the criminal-justice system.

How a Toronto-area suspected serial killer evaded police for decades despite violent criminal record

A man posthumously identified last week as a serial killer, who police believe is responsible for three cold-case murders in Ontario in the 1980s and 90s, had a history of committing violent crimes, including rape.

However, Kenneth Smith remained biologically off the radar of law enforcement for decades, police say, because his prior convictions occurred before the creation of both the national DNA data bank and the sex-offender registry.

The sleepless, meth-fuelled unravelling of Rob Reiner’s son

It was meant to be a festive Hollywood party thrown by late-night television host Conan O’Brien, full of industry small talk and seasonal greetings.

But the mood inside the gathering soured before the night was out. Guests recalled raised voices and a heated argument between Rob Reiner, his wife Michele and their son Nick.

Reiner and Michele left the party early after a confrontation unfolded in front of some of the industry’s biggest stars, according to TMZ.

Police malpractice in shootings

This weekend proved Flavor Flav was right. His posse, Public Enemy, released a song 35 years ago, 911 Is a Joke.

So get up, get, get, get down
911 is a joke in yo town

911 isn’t a joke of course. I’ve seen it in action on a personal basis. I like cops too.

Police policy is the problem. Politicians have hamstrung the police. And the joke is killing innocents.

No offence but you cannot rely on the police for protection.

You can contribute to TPS’ great record solving murder cases. Of course that means you died because they couldn’t help you.

No guns means we are mere collateral damage so the pols can virtue signal about the need for more and better gun control.

I asked AI to scan thousands of Barry and Honey Sherman murder case documents. Here’s what it told me I missed

It was my first personal experience with an Artificial Intelligence “hallucination” — the tendency of AI to just make things up.
When a Toronto homicide detective probing the unsolved murders of Toronto billionaires Barry and Honey Sherman revealed he had turned to AI for help, I figured, heck, I should try too.

I uploaded almost 4,000 pages of partially unsealed police documents, containing witness statements and police theories. On some pages, you can read everything police wrote to obtain various search warrants in the now eight-year-old case. Some pages are partially or completely blacked out. The Toronto Star’s court challenges over the past eight years have unsealed roughly 60 per cent of these documents.

Does Poverty Cause Crime?

One might expect researchers to have settled the question long ago of whether poverty causes crime. On the surface, the answer seems obvious. A correlation certainly exists: anyone working in the criminal-justice system—or simply walking through a low-income neighborhood—could observe that the poor are more prone to crime. But is the relationship causal? As the old Gershwin tune reminds us, it ain’t necessarily so.

We were poor by the day’s standards lower working class, K was raised by her single Mum. None of us imprisoned. So far.

The Chinese Communist Party is threatening Canadian democracy by influencing politicians, business leaders, and community influencers, and suppressing those who speak out against China, says a former national director of the RCMP’s proceeds-of-crime program.

“The PRC government, Chinese Communist Party, is the biggest transnational organized crime group ever seen in the world today, bar none,” former RCMP investigator and chief anti-money laundering officer Garry Clement said during a Dec. 6 forum event at Toronto City Hall. Clement was joined by a panel of experts who spoke about foreign interference and transnational repression in Canada by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

Children’s Aid Society knew women zip-tied boys into pyjamas but didn’t intervene, Ontario murder trial told

Becky Hamber, Brandy Cooney Killer Moms

The Children’s Aid Society (CAS) knew Brandy Cooney and Becky Hamber were zip-tying two boys into one-piece pyjamas and their case worker didn’t tell them to stop, according to an email shown at the couple’s weeks-long murder trial in Milton, Ont.

Holly Simmons, their Halton CAS worker at the time, emailed the two prospective parents in July 2019 and acknowledged they used zip ties so the boys couldn’t take off their clothes, in order to control “urine” and for “safety.”
