3 children dead, 19-year-old arrested after alleged impaired crash on Hwy. 401

Toronto police are investigating after a fatal crash killed three children in Etobicoke early Sunday morning.

In a post to social media, officers say a vehicle struck a stopped car carrying six occupants shortly after 12:30 a.m. on the eastbound Renforth Drive off-ramp.

Two children were pronounced dead at the scene. A third child was rushed to hospital and later died from their injuries. A fourth child and two adults were also taken to hospital.

Experts point to anomalies in ‘unprecedented’ case of missing N.S. children

Two weeks after two young siblings vanished without a trace in rural Nova Scotia, experts are pointing to anomalies in what they say is an unprecedented case that deviates from a typical missing children investigation.

Lilly Sullivan, 6, and brother Jack Sullivan, 4, have been missing since May 2. That’s when police received a 911 call reporting that they had wandered away from their home in Lansdowne Station, a sparsely populated area about 140 kilometres northeast of Halifax.

Feral teen girl who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in fatal swarming sentenced to probation

TORONTO — A teen girl who pleaded guilty to manslaughter in a deadly group attack on a homeless man in Toronto has been sentenced to 15 months of probation, with the judge taking into account time she has already spent in custody and the “unlawful” strip searches she underwent.

The girl entered a surprise plea in February as she and another teen were being tried for second-degree murder in the death of 59-year-old Kenneth Lee.

Toronto teens wanted on Canada-wide warrant after double homicide in Riverdale last month

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for two Toronto teens after a late night shooting that left two young men dead in Riverdale last month.

In a news release issued Thursday, police said 17-year-old Jayllen Maxime-Marcelle and 18-year-old Abdulrahman Zein are each wanted on two counts of first-degree murder.

Investigators say they have obtained judicial authorization to identify the youth suspect.

Behind the scenes of the feral girls-swarming saga

One of the girls found guilty of manslaughter in the swarming death of Kenneth Lee confessed to participating in the brutal attack in a voice note she left for a friend on an MP3 player that had been provided to her in youth jail.

The recording was first played in court during a bail hearing for that girl and again during a preliminary hearing for all eight of the accused.

The six-minute audio clip, along with many other details in the case, has been under a publication ban pending trials for several of the girls, including some who were set to face a jury.

Woman in 20s seriously injured after ‘unprovoked’ stabbing in Mississauga, suspect image released

Police in Peel region are appealing for the public’s help after a woman was randomly stabbed and suffered “near fatal injuries” Saturday evening.

The incident happened in the area of Eglinton Avenue West and Hurontario Street just before 6:30 p.m. where they responded to reports of a stabbing.

When they arrived, emergency crews located a woman with life-threatening stab wounds.

Shoppers Drug Mart billed Ontario almost $62 million for medication reviews. Former store owner says program is being ‘abused’

Shoppers Drug Mart billed almost $62 million to the provincial government for medication reviews over a 14-month period, data obtained by the Star shows, raising concerns the pharmacy chain is abusing the Ontario Drug Benefit program and providing little benefit to patients.

The reviews, performed through the MedsCheck program, are provincially funded consultations between pharmacists and patients intended to make sure doses are being followed and patient concerns are being addressed.
