Alex Murdaugh cries as court plays bodycam footage of family murder’s aftermath

Alex Murdaugh cried during his murder trial Thursday as police bodycam footage was played in court – while the first police officer on the scene testified the disgraced legal scion appeared to have “no tears” when learning of his wife and son’s deaths.

The footage of the double murder’s aftermath, which was not shared with the broader public, was taken by Colleton County’s Sheriff’s Officer Daniel Greene, who was called as a witness.

After arriving at the family’s Islandton, S.C. home, Greene said he saw the bodies of Murdaugh’s wife Maggie and son Paul surrounded by pools of blood.

This is so bizarre.

Ontario claims $75M stolen in ‘kickback schemes’ run by alleged ringleader of COVID-19 fraud

The Ontario government is alleging that as much as $75 million in taxpayers’ money was stolen as part of elaborate “kickback schemes” in the awarding of computer contracts.

In a dramatic expansion of the province’s civil case against the ex-bureaucrat accused in the alleged $11 million theft of COVID-19 relief funds, the Crown claims at least nine others are involved in a separate “conspiracy” dating back more than a decade.

“The plaintiff (the Ontario government) paid out approximately $40 million pursuant to FFSCs (fee-for-service contracts) resulting from the kickback schemes. The secret commissions totalled approximately $35 million,” government lawyers say in Ontario Superior Court civil filings.

Is Ghislaine Maxwell gearing up for more revelations?

Last night’s TV appearance shows she will only protect Epstein’s friends for so long

If nothing else, Ghislaine Behind Bars — Ghislaine Maxwell’s exclusive interview for TalkTV, aired last night — gave an interesting insight into the realities of life in a low-security American prison. We learnt, for instance, that inmates are expected to make their beds “military style” and that the meat-free meal options usually feature either beans or tofu, although the latter is so bereft of seasoning that it is almost unpalatable. Not quite The Shawshank Redemption, then, but not much fun for a woman who has probably never before been tasked with making her own bed.

The family of the Toronto man allegedly killed by teen girls in a “swarming” attack have denounced “flaws” in the criminal justice system, criticizing the opacity surrounding youth cases involving serious crimes.

Eight teenage girls have been charged with murder over the death of Ken Lee, who was repeatedly stabbed at a plaza near the main rail station in Canada’s largest city in the early hours of 18 December. Three of the girls are 13, three are 14 and two are 16.

Because of their age, none of the suspects can be identified under Canada’s Youth Criminal Justice Act and few details can be printed by media outlets because of publication bans.
