What is it like to survive an execution by lethal injection?

On three occasions in the past four months, Alabama’s department of corrections has bungled its lethal injections procedure.

At 7.57pm on 17 November, prison guards entered the “death cell” at Holman correctional facility in Atmore, south Alabama, where Kenneth Smith was awaiting execution by lethal injection for the 1988 murder-for-hire of a preacher’s wife.

The guards put Smith in handcuffs and leg irons, then led him to the execution chamber and strapped him tightly to the gurney. As he lay there, he prepared himself for imminent death.

Sam Bankman-Fried spent $200M in FTX customer funds on two investments: feds

Indicted FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried used customer cash from sister firm Alameda Research to invest $200 million in two separate companies, according to a report.

One of Bankman-Fried’s investments went toward the banking app Dave, which disclosed a $100 million windfall last March that purportedly came from FTX Ventures, CNBC reported on Wednesday.

The other $100 million investment backed Mysten Labs, a Web3 firm focused on digital infrastructure, according to the business network.

It looks worse every day, now he has been caught lying about the source of funds for these two “investments.” He is scheduled to make a plea Jan 3. I have no idea which way he will go, but he seems “entitled” enough to claim innocence.

A major increase in auto thefts in 2022 has victims and industry experts calling for action

If you think car theft is bad now wait till Trudeau’s Green-Scam gets rolling.

It took about 30 seconds for thieves to steal Dave Hutchinson’s vehicle right out of his underground parking spot in his downtown Toronto condo.

He asked the concierge to see the surveillance video once he discovered his Range Rover was missing.

The footage showed a white van pulling up to his vehicle, someone getting out and within seconds they were driving it out of the parking lot.

“The fact they did it so easily, they didn’t break glass, they didn’t break into anything … it’s terrible,” he said.

According to the Star “Adults” have “Juveniles” steal luxury vehicles for 10K a pop. Car-jackings make headlines and demand a police response. It is incredible how easy it to steal a car and most like that Range Rover are gone in seconds. I wonder how much resources the TPS has to expend on car theft?

Latest officer death heartbreaking, but expert says recent police deaths not a trend

OTTAWA — When Const. Grzegorz Pierzchala was shot while responding to a call Tuesday afternoon he became the sixth Canadian police officer to die since September, but an expert is warning the numbers do not represent a trend.

Michael Arntfield, a criminologist and professor at Western University, said the recent deaths are concerning and are an indication of how dangerous policing has become, given the growing responsibilities police are taking on.

Great timing by the CBC for this article…

Ties And Timing: Bankman-Fried, Biden Officials, & Activists Had Secret Chat Channel

Beyond the seemingly ready-made crypto-strangling legislation that Senator Liz Warren (D-MA) and other Constitution-flouters pushed within days of the Nov. 11 FTX bankruptcy announcement, one of the most curious and disturbing facets of the Ukraine-tied, media-adored, and now-collapsed crypto-currency exchange has just come to light.

On December 22, Politico’s Ryan Lizza, Rachael Bade, and Eugene Daniels reported that a close ally and adviser to FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried (“SBF”) was part of a direct backchannel communications portal with leftist activists and…the White House.

And, curiously, the members of that FTX-White-House-Leftist-Activist portal appear to have shut it down the day after FTX filed for bankruptcy.

Makes sense given Mommy’s links to the DNC.

Why thefts of copper wire in Canada aren’t likely to stop any time soon

… In Nova Scotia, the province’s electric utility has seen a significant increase in thefts of copper wire over the past year, and Bell Aliant has said the same thing is happening in New Brunswick.

Matt Drover, senior director of transmission and distribution operations at Nova Scotia Power, says the company has recorded dozens of such thefts in 2022. He would not disclose the exact number or the financial cost.

In October, the company issued a news release in an attempt to dissuade would-be thieves, warning that they were putting themselves and others “at risk of severe injury or death.”

Emails reveal Sam Bankman-Fried’s courtship of federal regulators

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Before his mid-December arrest, cryptocurrency billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried repeatedly claimed that he was a responsible business leader who sought more regulation of cryptocurrency and wanted his industry to be part of the mainstream financial system.

But now that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Justice Department are prosecuting the 30-year-old for fraud, the extensive professional relationships he cultivated with current and former federal regulators risk embarrassment for all involved.

As CEO of FTX, a crypto exchange, Bankman-Fried hired multiple former federal regulators who helped connect him with top officials at the CFTC, the agency he hoped would be charged with regulating his industry, emails show.
