NYPD union boss says shooter felt emboldened to open fire on cop

A culture that coddles — and emboldens — criminals led to the Christmas Eve shooting of an NYPD officer in Brooklyn, according to the head of the city’s largest police union.

…“Why does a perp feel bold enough to shoot at a police officer? That’s the question we have to ask and we have to answer. There’s a number of reasons this is happening. Lack of support on the street, defunding the police, bail reform, lack of prosecution. That’s why this is happening,” Lynch said.

Seattle Council member called police she defunded to report crime she is effectively legalizing

Seattle City Councilmember Lisa Herbold called the police department she defunded to report a crime she suffered that would be effectively legalized under her proposal. Good thing she didn’t wait until after she passes her bill to report the incident.

Under Herbold’s proposal, most misdemeanor suspects would get a pass for crimes committed to meet a basic need. It’s essentially a poverty defense. But it goes deeper than that.

Police Defunding, Like Communism, Can’t Fail

Police Defunding, Like Communism, Can’t Fail

No matter how many people die, it’ll never be enough.

“I guess you can use a snappy slogan, like ‘defund the police.’ But, you know, you lost a big audience the minute you say it,” Barack Obama complained.

Obama was pretending that there had never been a serious push to get rid of the police, and after spending eight years mainstreaming black nationalism and the pro-crime politics of police defunding was trying to pretend it was just an edgy slogan calling for “criminal justice reform”.

Defund: Minneapolis Cuts Police Budget By $8M — But Not Staffing Levels — As Murders Skyrocket By 50%

Defund: Minneapolis Cuts Police Budget By $8M — But Not Staffing Levels — As Murders Skyrocket By 50%

What do cities do when murders suddenly rocket up by over 50% and carjackings by 537%? Here in Minneapolis, the city council cuts police spending by $8 million.  Believe it or not, this deal is actually the good news, as the council initially wanted to cap the force at 750 employees — far below its currently authorized 888, a move stymied by Mayor Jacob Frey’s veto threat.

‘It’s Not A Slogan. It’s A Mandate:’ Progressives Push Back On Obama, Defend ‘Defund The Police’

Progressives, including most members of the Democratic Socialist “Squad”, fired back at President Barack Obama Wednesday, torching the former leader over his comments deriding the far-left for advocating to “defund the police” — a slogan which Obama and other experts believe had a widespread, negative impact on Democrat success in down-ticket and statewide elections.

Minneapolis sees shocking 537% spike in carjackings as City Council pushes for ‘irresponsible’ cuts to police budget

Minneapolis sees shocking 537% spike in carjackings as City Council pushes for ‘irresponsible’ cuts to police budget

Minneapolis has suffered a surge in crime that has coincided with a severe shortage of police officers. Undeterred, City Council members want to make further cuts to law enforcement.

Police have registered a 537-percent increase in violent carjackings in the city compared with last November, the local Star Tribune reported. More than 125 such crimes have been recorded over the past two months, with three separate carjackings reported within a one-hour period on Saturday morning. One of the victims, an elderly woman, was struck on the head by her assailants.

In Defense of Community Defense Groups

La Mesa California BLM Antifa riot aftermath

In one California county, residents turn to privately organized community groups for defense and support.

The riots of this past year are unprecedented in scope and duration, and they occurred with the support of many elected officials and with funding from big corporations. This is shocking since these violent actions are based on a fabricated narrative that all cops are racist and America itself is “systemically racist.” The two main groups responsible for this violence, Black Lives Matter and Antifa, are not motivated only by police shootings but by an attempt to transform America into an authoritarian socialist nation. Racial unrest is their vehicle. Their actions have led to thousands of businesses destroyed — many of them minority-owned — at least 30 people killed, and over 700 police officers injured. Given this level of violence and destruction, it is not surprising to see the rise of community defense groups.

Beat Cops Cut Crime: A new study explores how police presence maintains public order.

Beat Cops Cut Crime: A new study explores how police presence maintains public order.

More cops mean less crime. This is one of the most robust findings of empirical criminology, supported by study after study since at least the late 1990s. But researchers still debate how, exactly, this effect comes about. Does increasing the number of officers reduce offenses by increasing the number of crimes solved, or by deterring offenders from committing crimes in the first place?

Minneapolis momentum is being crushed by the crime wave

The city was rebranding for a vibrant future, but today you can’t go to the grocery store without fear of being attacked.

Elaine, a front-line health care worker in Minneapolis, was putting groceries in the trunk of her car recently, in a crowded parking lot at the Uptown Kowalski’s Market, giving her high-alert system a break, as most of us do when some benign activity consumes our attention. It was 5:15 p.m.

A moment later, a car blaring loud music pulled up behind hers, trapping her at her own car’s trunk. Someone got out of the car and punched Elaine to the ground. An accomplice wrested her handbag from her arm. In the next instant, the car and assailants were gone. It was again a regular evening, just after dark, in a busy parking lot in Uptown.

The robbery had happened so fast that no one had even noticed. Elaine, my colleague’s mom, a 60-plus year-old woman, beaten and robbed, her eye already swelling shut, had to pull herself up from the ground and stumble into the store for help.

After defunding the police, Portland mayor attacks police for not arresting more rioters that just get released anyway

After defunding the police, Portland mayor attacks police for not arresting more rioters that just get released anyway

PORTLAND, OR- The city of Portland has become an archaic wasteland due to six months of rioting and poor leadership. Now, after defunding local police and refusing to stop rioters, Portland’s mayor is demanding that officers do a better job of ending riots.

In an interview with KOIN, a local news station, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler claimed to be working with the chief of police to find solution for the long lasting rioting. But, unfortunately, Mayor Wheeler is still completely delusional about the causes and solutions of the riots.

Seattle City Council Slashes Police Budget

The Seattle City Council on Monday approved a massive budget cut to the city’s police department, which Mayor Jenny Durkan (D.) indicated she would sign next week.

As part of the 2021 fiscal year’s budget, the council slashed the Seattle Police Department’s funding by 18 percent. As a result, Seattle police will no longer have the authority to respond to 911 emergency calls and enforce parking violations. Overtime and training programs will be cut, and dozens of empty positions will go unfilled.
