Police investigating Brampton towing company after reports of unauthorized tows

A 39-year-old Brampton man has been charged for allegedly towing multiple vehicles belonging to members of the public “without authorization”, earlier this month.

Peel regional police say they launched their investigation on May 1, after receiving “multiple reports” of vehicles being taken from Brampton parking lots without the approval from property management.

Police say the vehicles were later located at a private storage yard.

But the loud banging turned out to be three masked men on the doorstep of her Toronto home trying to smash through her front window with a hammer.

Two men who were the focus of a police search after an eight-year-old boy was assaulted at a Khalsa Day carnival attraction have been identified.

On April 19, in Surrey, the boy was assaulted inside the Kreepy Kastle, a haunted house attraction, police said. He escaped the two men to reach his family outside, but suffered injuries to his neck that required treatment at hospital.

Two Singhs and a Toor found guilty of first-degree murder in killing of Abbotsford couple

The family of an Abbotsford couple found murdered in their beds four years ago said they felt relief and gratitude after the three men accused of planning and carrying out the violent killings were found guilty of first-degree murder.

Abhijeet Singh, Khushveer Toor and Gurkaran Singh, an international student from India, were charged with killing Arnold De Jong and his wife, Joanne, in May 2022.

When Japkirat Singh was convicted in a Toronto courtroom last week of dangerous street racing that caused the death of an innocent woman, he was thousands of miles away.

According to his lawyer Charn Gill, Singh was still in India due to his father’s illness and wasn’t able to return to Canada because his work permit expired in June 2025 and his renewal application was rejected a few months ago.

Police recover stolen trailer containing cannabis products worth more than $2M, 5 of the usual suspects arrested

Five men have been charged after police recovered a stolen trailer containing cannabis products worth more than $2 million in Mississauga earlier this month.

York Regional Police (YRP) said the trailer was stolen from Niagara Region and was intended for delivery to numerous dispensaries.

Officers were in the area of McLaughlin Road and Highway 401 on April 15 when they discovered the stolen trailer, YRP said.

In footage from April 11, three suspects are seen working together in a coordinated distraction theft inside a clothing store at Toronto Premium Outlets, located off Highway 401 near Milton.

Man sentenced in northern Ont. child abduction case

A southern Ontario man has been sentenced for abducting a child almost three years ago in northern Ontario.

Manoj Govindbalunikam, the man who admitted to abducting a child in Thessalon in 2023, has been sentenced to 18 months behind bars.

The defence for the former Brampton, Ont., Realtor had argued previously that the situation was a cultural misunderstanding, adding that an extended sentence could impact Govindbalunikam’s ability to stay in Canada.

Surrey traffic stop leads to major fentanyl, cocaine and meth seizure; foreign student arrested

A proactive traffic stop in Surrey has resulted in one of the region’s latest significant drug seizures, with more than three kilograms of illicit substances taken off the street and two individuals arrested, according to the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia.

On March 24, officers with the CFSEU-BC Uniform Gang Enforcement Team (UGET) conducted the stop as part of ongoing efforts targeting organized crime and street-level trafficking networks.
