Albertans are experiencing something we would have thought was unthinkable just a few short months ago. The government of Alberta has made protesting the government itself illegal.

Over the weekend in Kelowna, B.C., a young girl was seen outside of a crowded Costco holding a protest sign reading, “Please tell me why Sidney Crosby can play and I can’t.” The sign was a reference to new COVID-19 restrictions that prevent members of the public from playing hockey outside, due to limits on gatherings. Meanwhile, professional NHL players will be allowed to play through the 2020 season.

If I told you a year ago that Canadians would not only be accepting of government-mandated curfews, but downright supportive of them, I would have seemed like a crazy person.
And yet, that’s where we find ourselves today.

Brexit leader Nigel Farage warned that lockdowns in the United Kingdom are pushing the country into a full-on police state, predicting that the battle to regain individual liberty will be a tougher struggle than leaving the European Union.

The term ‘California Dream’ used to be commonplace. It used to mean something. Now that term has faded into a tragic joke. From now on the term to describe the Golden State is ‘California Crazy.’

The City of Ottawa’s top health official Dr. Vera Etches has banned hockey sticks, pucks and all other sporting equipment at public outdoor ice rinks.

Alberta announced a mandatory closure of all dine-in service at restaurants, pubs, bars, lounges and cafes on Dec. 13. Restaurants can only provide take-away and delivery service.

Just when you thought that 2021 would see the U.S. and the world return to pre-COVID-19 ‘normal,’ here comes another government bureaucrat to slam that door shut.

The ‘COVID19 s the most terrible infection ever, and we must do everything in our power to stop it, whatever the cost’ banner.
Or the ‘What on earth are we doing? This is no worse than a bad flu, and we are destroying the world economy, stripping away basic human rights and killing more people than we are saving’ banner.
There may be others.
Between these two, main, completely incompatible positions, lies the truth. It is in pretty poor shape. It has been crushed, and bent out of shape, smashed, and left as a broken heap in the corner. I search where I can, to find the fragments, in an attempt to bring together a picture that makes some kind of sense.
Excellent article.

The omnibus spending bill, which includes a bevy of pork-barrel spending items, was coupled with a new $900 billion COVID-19 relief bill. Together, they serve as the most recent example of congressional sausage-making at its worst.

Marriage is on the decline, and it’s a scary thought. Imagine dating a man for years, cohabitating, and giving the relationship your all without him ever having to “put a ring on it.” No matrimony, no wedding dress, and no big celebration with family and friends. What about the thought of having children without marriage?
It’s fine if you don’t believe in marriage, but the rest of us do. Most women look forward to tying the knot with the man of their dreams, but what will happen if millions of men refuse to get married? This is what’s currently happening in America and many other parts of the world.

Brian Pallister, Manitoba’s conservative-in-name-only premier, recently imposed strict lockdown measures on his entire province, including the closure of anything he deems “non-essential” — and according to him, you’re an “idiot” if you disagree with his decision.

Recently in Manitoba, things have gotten a bit out of hand, as Premier/Grinch Brian Pallister’s enforcement of new restrictions has seen more than $180,000 in fines dished out in a week. A popular target for Pallister’s charges has been a church in Steinbach, where a pastor was recently charged for organizing a protest.

Boris Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccination card could ‘pave the way’ for a full national ID system while creating a two-tier county where some Britons have freedom but those without immunity are ‘shut out’, a leading human rights group has claimed.
Advocacy group Liberty fear people without the card could be blocked from accessing ‘essential public services, work or housing’ – with the ‘most marginalised among us’ being hit the hardest.
Every Briton will be handed a card proving they have received the sought-after coronavirus jab and urged to keep it with them at all times.
But the cards have been widely-criticised with many fearing they could create a black market in fakes if pubs, theatres and restaurants demand to see them. Others have accused the Government of bringing in an immunity passport by stealth.
