My week at the Diddy trial, where laughter gave way to disturbed silence

At 6.30am on Monday a pavement in lower Manhattan is thick with young people, dressed as if for a party. The lady in front of me is in a black frock and matching hat. It might be a line for a nightclub, or the queue for Shakespeare in the Park.

But it’s another show altogether that has gripped New York and indeed most of the country. It is the trial of Sean Combs, the rapper, music and television mogul known variously as Diddy, P Diddy and Puff Daddy.

At about 8am the great snaking line of podcasters, YouTubers and assorted gawkers, mixed in with newspaper and TV reporters, is fed into a glass lobby of the courthouse, where it winds back and forth like the queue at airport security.

Hollywood’s biggest bore? Why Robert De Niro badly needs a new script

There are many things to say about the two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro. How he has acquired, and maintained, a reputation as the finest actor of his generation, despite appearing in more bad films than any thespian of comparable talent, save his friend and occasional co-star Al Pacino. How he has made a fortune out of pursuing business ventures outside of acting, most famously investing in the Nobu restaurant group, but also in everything from jukebox musicals (We Will Rock You) to real estate; he is said to own a substantial proportion of the upmarket Tribeca neighbourhood in his native New York.

But has De Niro ever made any public comment about any of these things? No, he has not. Or at least, if he has, it will be a mumbled couple of words.

TDS has seized up his brain.

Pop Star Cassie Testifies Diddy Beat and Raped Her, Threatened to Release Sex Videos

NEW YORK (AP) — The R&B singer Cassie testified Wednesday that Sean “Diddy” Combs raped her when she ended their decade-long relationship, after he locked her in a life of physical abuse by threatening to release degrading sexual videos of her.

Addressing the Manhattan courtroom for a second day in Combs’ federal sex trafficking trial, Cassie said Combs forced his way into her Los Angeles apartment and raped her on the living room floor after she said she was breaking up with him.

‘Four-day sex parties became my full-time job,’ Diddy’s ex tells sex-trafficking trial

Sean “Diddy” Combs forced his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura into four-day drug-fuelled “freak-off” sex parties that consumed her life like a full-time job, a court heard.

Combs and Ventura, who were in a relationship for more than a decade, came face-to-face for the first time in more than six years on Tuesday when she took the stand in the rapper’s criminal trial.

Ventura, 38, claimed she would need days to recover from the toll of taking narcotics to stay awake for days on end having sex with strangers as her boyfriend at the time watched.

Disney has done the impossible, and made Snow White an even bigger bomb

Hi-ho, it’s back to the cinema for Disney’s flop live-action Snow White. Having originally crashed and burned in March, the movie misfired all over again after the House of Mouse re-released it in the US last week. Talk about putting the “grim” in Grimm Fairy Tale.

Disney’s apparent calculation was that that the advent of summer blockbuster season could give this dead-on-arrival feature a new lease of life. You can sort of appreciate the logic: after all, May saw the ailing Marvel Cinematic Universe return from purgatory when Thunderbolts proved a surprise hit.

The A-list offspring coming out as trans

Even the keenest of celebrity watchers may not have heard of Aaron De Niro before late last month. If they have since, it will likely be by a different name, as Oscar-winner Robert De Niro’s 29-year-old child says she now identifies as Airyn, a transgender woman.

“There’s a difference between visible and being seen,” she told online LGBTQ+ online publication Them in April about her transition. “I’ve been visible. [But] I don’t think I’ve been seen yet.”

De Niro, who has seven children in total, said he supported her decision. “I loved and supported Aaron as my son and now I love and support Airyn as my daughter,” the A-lister said, adding: “I don’t know what the big deal is…I love all my children.”

I believe the phenomenon to be a Biblical curse upon Hollywood’s denizens.

Video of Sean Combs to Play Central Role in Sex-Trafficking Trial

When Sean Combs goes on trial for sex-trafficking charges beginning this week, the case could turn on disturbing video footage that the rap impresario’s defense team fought to keep out.

The footage shows Combs assaulting and dragging an ex-girlfriend in a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. Federal prosecutors say it backs up the allegations of the woman and three other alleged victims who are expected to testify that he abused, threatened and coerced them into participating in drug-fueled sex parties. Lawyers for Combs say the video has been distorted and taken out of context, but a judge denied their request to bar it from being shown to a jury.

Diddy trial thrown into chaos as key witness goes MISSING

Arkancide?

A star witness in the Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs trial is reportedly MIA, throwing the disgraced Bad Boy mogul’s sex trafficking case into chaos.

Opening statements are set to begin next week. But federal prosecutors have been left scrambling.

They can’t find one of the female victims who is central to their case. She does not live in New York where the Combs’ trial is being held.

Diddy makes sobering admission about his emotions as jury selection in bombshell NYC sex trafficking trial kicks off

A business attire-clad Sean “Diddy” Combs admitted he was feeling anxious Monday as his sex-trafficking trial kicked off in Manhattan federal court.

Combs, 55, ditched his drab jail duds for a blue sweater over a white button-down shirt as he sat at the defense table observing the jury selection process.

“I’m sorry your honor, I’m a little nervous today,” the embattled hip-hop icon told Judge Arun Subramanian, asking for a two-minute bathroom break after roughly 90 minutes of juror questioning in the hotly anticipated case.

Kapow! China turns its back on Marvel movies

Among its retaliatory strikes for President Trump’s tariff war, Beijing targeted Hollywood movies, threatening to deny them Chinese ticket sales. It may not need to.

Initial figures for the latest Marvel superhero film, Thunderbolts* — the first Hollywood blockbuster to premiere in China since Trump’s “liberation day”, when his tariffs were announced — suggest local audiences will not need anything as official as a ban to stay away.
