SLOBODIAN: All parties failed on shocking human rights commissioner appointment

Birju Dattani – Hateful Muslim

The Birju Dattani fiasco exposed how easy it can be for the wrong people to slide past detection into obscenely well-paying government jobs, that arm them with tremendous power over Canadians.

This happens too often in the Liberal government to be an “honest mistake” or a failure of process.

Is a Canadian a Canadian if he first tortured prisoners for ISIS?

One of the quirky delights of the era of Late Liberalism is watching Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Minister Marc Miller play the hard-nosed mafia “cleaner” trying to create a semblance of order after a decade of flawed Liberal immigration policy. Miller has now been handed a case of high political temperature with the July arrests of accused father-and-son terrorists from Toronto who were supposedly preparing a murder rampage. The father, who obtained Canadian citizenship sometime after 2015, has been identified as having a documented background as a torturer for ISIS; the son is not a citizen.

‘Disgusted’ immigration minister looking into revoking citizenship of Toronto terror suspect

The federal government is looking at whether the citizenship of a man accused of planning a terror attack in Toronto should be revoked, Immigration Minister Marc Miller said Wednesday.

“I’m as disgusted as any Canadian. But I have a responsibility to get to the bottom of it and I will,” he said during a morning news conference in Church Point, N.S.

“I’m also going to take the next step, which is to start the preliminary work with the evidence at hand to look at whether the individual in question’s citizenship should be revoked.”

Bullshit.

Canada’s Police Chiefs Ask for Government Help to Deal With Rising Protests

Canada’s police chiefs are calling on all levels of government to provide more funding and manpower to deal with the growing number of protests across the country.

The request was part of a resolution released at the 119th annual summit of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) in Halifax Aug. 11–13. The gathering looked at the impact that global conflicts are having on Canadian communities from a policing perspective.

LILLEY: Terror suspect let into Canada because security not a priority

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wants you to know that his government is taking the case of Ahmed Fouad Mostafa Eldidi very seriously. In case you’ve missed the news, Eldidi is the father part of the father-son duo facing charges after their arrest two weeks ago for what authorities said was a terror plot.

Tim Walz: The Mogadishuan Candidate

Twenty-nine people have been indicted in a sex trafficking ring spanning three U.S. states and allegedly run by Minneapolis-based Somali gangs.

Under Tim Walz, Minnesota has become the test run for the war on Middle America.

As the Kamala Harris campaign unveiled their vice-presidential pick last week, conservatives could hardly contain their glee. The man of the hour, Minnesota governor Tim Walz, was a radical, they reasoned. The 2020 George Floyd riots began in his backyard. He championed every toxic left-wing cultural position available, from sex changes for minors to late-term abortion.

And — as the ensuing opposition-research feeding frenzy would soon come to reveal — he routinely misrepresented his military service overseas (or in this case, his lack thereof), up to the point of plausibly having committed stolen valor. “Republicans Are ‘Thrilled’ Tim Walz Is the VP Pick,” blared a New York Magazine headline. Among Republican insiders, the piece reported, “the response to Kamala Harris’s choice of Tim Walz as vice-president was one of overwhelming joy.”

Joe Adam George: Terror arrests show risk of taking in large numbers of poorly vetted Gazans

In a sensational domestic terrorism case, late last month, the RCMP arrested an ISIS-inspired father-son duo who were allegedly plotting to carry out a mass casualty attack in Toronto. It was later revealed that Canadian authorities had inexplicably permitted the father to immigrate to Canada and granted him citizenship, despite allegedly appearing in an ISIS propaganda video in which he is seen dismembering a prisoner.

Marseille’s drug wars between rival gangs spread across France

When President Macron declared war on Marseilles’s ultra-violent drugs gangs in March, one crime boss phoned the public broadcaster FranceInfo from his prison cell to mock the “unprecedented” police crackdown.

“All the prisoners, we all had a good laugh in front of the TV,” he said in a conversation broadcast on national television. Using an illegal mobile phone, he said police patrols were designed to impress the media but had little impact on street dealing.

“They go for a little walk around. That takes 15 or 20 minutes, then they leave,” he said. The broadcaster verified the identity of the convict, who is serving a lengthy sentence in Marseilles’ Baumettes prison for drugs trafficking and money laundering but did not name him and disguised his voice.

Canada taking review of immigration screening of terror plot suspects ‘extremely seriously,’ PM Trudeau says

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the federal government is taking an internal review into the immigration and screening of a father and son recently charged in connection to an alleged foiled Toronto terror plot “extremely seriously.”

“This is obviously a very serious situation that the Minister of Public Safety is ensuring there [is] a full follow up and understanding on exactly how this happened. I know investigations are ongoing,” Trudeau told reporters on Monday.

The Sun Sets on Britain

The government of one of world’s greatest countries has decided its citizens are not worth protecting.

Along time ago in Baltimore, I sat outside an Immigration office with my pal, Tom Welsh, ready to answer questions about my worthiness for American citizenship. Because of my mother’s international bank job, I’d spent 20 years since arriving from Cuba as a U.S. resident rather than a citizen. Now a young adult, I looked forward to my entry into the winner’s circle. Tom was there to testify ahead of me that I deserved the high honor. Being slightly less conservative than me, he and I got into a heated political argument. When the Immigration woman came out and called his name, Tom glanced at me and said, “I don’t know now … ”

Islam and the Future of the West

In End of the World: Civilization and Its Fate, philosopher Jon Mills reflects on the Taliban attack with machine guns and explosives on a school in Peshawar, in which 132 schoolchildren were slaughtered. The act is almost incomprehensible. “The immediate dislocation of understanding any rational means behind such atrocities,” he writes “is emotionally unfathomable for the simple fact that it disrupts our psychic need for a moral order in the universe.” It represents a “pathological breach” in our implicit conviction that we live in a civilized world. “It takes only one act of barbarism,” he concludes, “to remind us that evil is no illusion.” Of course, the single act of barbarism can be and is multiplied exponentially all over the world every moment of the day, but there exists one world-historical belief system in which such occasions are both justified and mandated.
