Man ‘acted disgracefully’ at Manchester airport before being kicked

New CCTV footage of arrests at Manchester Airport shows the men acting “disgracefully” towards police, the government’s independent adviser on political violence has said.

Lord Walney added, however, that the armed Greater Manchester police officer who kicked and stamped on the man’s head as he lay on the ground after being Tasered used “excessive force”.

Victorian Laws Against Priests Meddling in Politics Are Now Needed More Than Ever – To Prevent Imams Doing the Same

Over the last few weeks, we have just seen proud and open Islamic radicals elected into the House of Commons, and apparent race-related riots on the streets of Leeds. At first glance, the increasingly sectarian nature of U.K. politics seems to be a thoroughly modern phenomenon. Yet, surprisingly, there is one specific little-covered aspect of this lamentable trend which has genuine roots in centuries gone by, having its origins directly in the days of old Catholic Ireland – which is odd, as at first glance it appears to centre entirely upon the ever-growing issue of British political Islam.

Mass deportation is the only lasting solution.

Conrad Black: Netanyahu vaporizes the nonsense surrounding Israel’s war with Hamas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to a joint session of the United States Congress on Wednesday was one of the most powerful and significant speeches given by any national government leader in an important forum in some years. It was a forcefully delivered vaporization of the cant and bigotry and (literally) the philistinism of much of the current debate about the war in Gaza and the Middle East generally. The prime minister was only stating the obvious for anyone who thinks clearheadedly about it for a few moments, but he effortlessly and eloquently swept away a great deal of fatuous and malicious nonsense that enshrouds much of the current conflict.

An end to Israel is the only ‘de-escalation’ the pro-Palestine crowd wants

Everywhere you turn in conversations about Israel, Gaza, Jews and antisemitism right now, the long-promised specter of expansion and escalation is… well… escalating. More than nine months into Israel’s war with Hamas, the rhetoric of conflict and activism has escalated into violent confrontations on the battlefields of war, politics and protest.

OPSEU officially endorses boycott of Israel, upsetting Jewish union members

Jewish members of an Ontario public sector labour union say they feel betrayed after leadership ratified a resolution supporting a contentious worldwide anti-Israel movement.

Last month, the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) executive adopted a motion in support of the BDS (boycott, divestment and sanctions) campaign that is designed to isolate and punish Israel in support of Palestinians. National Post has obtained a copy of the motion.

The mob thinks it rules Britain – and can impose its will on the rest of us

Any fair-minded person would look at the video of the incident at Manchester airport this week and agree that it merits further investigation. The footage is disturbing. It shows a man, lying prone on the floor, having his head kicked and then seemingly stamped on by an armed police officer. The man’s mother looks on in distress as his brother is also forcibly restrained by police.

Montreal city hall replaces crucifix with hijab, prompting criticism

Five years after Montreal city hall removed a crucifix, it has reopened an image of a woman with a hijab, prompting criticism from some, and support from others.

Visitors to city call now encounter the message “Bienvenue à L’Hotel de Ville de Montréal“ in an image two metres high. The picture includes a sketch of a young man wearing a hoodie and ballcap, a woman wearing a hijab, and a male senior citizen.

Courting the Antisemitic vote

A new constituency of antisemitic voters has arisen during the past year—the pro-Hamas protesters who have been using “Zionist” as a codeword for Jew, who have been brandishing signs calling for a “Final Solution.” Are those the voters candidates should court?

We’re accustomed to politicians courting the Black Vote, or the Jewish Vote, or the Youth Vote. But what about the Antisemitic Vote?

CNN correspondent John King asserted on July 21 that “there could be some risks” for Kamala Harris if she chooses Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro as her running mate because “he’s Jewish.”

In other words, antisemitic voters would not cast their ballots for a Harris-Shapiro ticket. That may be true. The question is whether courting the votes of bigots should be an acceptable political strategy.

Same in Canada, Britain, France, Germany etc. etc. etc.

Sweden is turning into Europe’s Islamist hotspot

The threat of IS has been growing; not just in Europe, but the rest of the world too. This year, there has been an increasing number of foiled plots and threats that are coming from Islamic State networks in Africa. Proof of this came on Tuesday when the US Treasury sanctioned Isis networks across Africa, specifically in Somalia and Mozambique.

Sectarian Islamic politics – the future of the Western world?

It is already the case in the UK. Looking at the situation in Britain’s government, one can only ask: Where does it go from here?

Looking at England today, Paul Verlaine would rewrite: “Je suis l’Empire à la fin de la décadence”.

The great Jewish historian David Abulafia writes in The Telegraph that the “survival of the United Kingdom as a beacon of freedom” is at risk. The warning of one of the leading experts on the Middle Ages should not go unnoticed.

After 14 years of Conservative flop, Labour’s long flop begins.

As the Olympics nears, Paris puts 75,000 troops on the streets

A scrum of disappointed tourists stared, wistfully, through the maze of metal fences lining the River Seine. Ahead of them, Notre Dame cathedral and other Parisian treasures lay, tantalisingly, out of reach.

“We don’t have a code,” said a woman from Mexico, watching others – armed with the requisite QR security code – pass, with an approving beep, through a police checkpoint.

Further downstream, beside the Eiffel Tower, a weary couple trailing large suitcases performed a slow U-turn on a crowded pavement.

What a grotesque state of affairs.

U.S. Senators sound alarm over Canada’s acceptance of Gaza refugees

Canada’s acceptance of Palestinian refugees from Gaza is setting off alarm bells south of the border.

In a letter Wednesday to U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, United States Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) expressed concern over the program, which he warned could lead to an increased risk of allowing individuals with ties to terror groups easy access to the United States.
