How a teenage lie led to the beheading of a teacher

Six youngsters in France have been convicted of their roles in the savage killing of Samuel Paty after false accusations generated a storm online

Just 14 minutes before he stabbed and decapitated Samuel Paty, a French school teacher he felt deserved to die for the sin of blasphemy, Abdoullakh Anzorov made a last check that he was about to kill the right man.

It was a Friday afternoon in October 2020, and the Chechen-born Islamist was standing near a school in Conflans-Sainte-Honorine, a sleepy suburban town northwest of Paris. He was talking to a group of five boys, aged 14 and 15, to whom he had promised a €300 (£257) reward for pointing out their teacher to him as he walked home after class.

European Jews will be gone by 2050

Country by country, the numbers are collapsing. “There is no future for them here…” says Dutch author Leon de Winter

Yonathan Arfi, president of the Jewish Representative Council in France, reveals that parents have told their children not to wear kippahs or the Star of David on the street or on public transport for fear of being attacked. Jews removed their names from mailboxes and doorbells or changed names on their Uber accounts for security reasons.

One of the country’s most popular radio and television entertainers, stage name “Arthur” (real name Jacques Essebag), shocked the country when he revealed he had been living under guard since October 7. “This is France in 2023, I live in Paris and I have agents protecting me and my family because I’m Jewish, isn’t that crazy?”, Arthur said.

Islam, it’s incurable.

Denmark parliament adopts bill prohibiting Quran burnings

The Danish parliament on Thursday approved legislation that would effectively prohibit Quran burnings in the northern European country.

The law criminalizes the “inappopriate treatment of writings with significant importance for a recognized religious community.”

The bill was passed with 94 votes in favor by the Danish Parliament, also known as the 179-member Folketing. Seventy-seven votes were cast against the legislation.

Burning, tearing, or defiling religious texts in public could land people up to one or two years behind bars or a fine. Destroying a holy text on video and then disseminating the footage online could also put offenders in jail.
