Justin Trudeau’s Canada is ground zero for the worst of woke

From hard drugs to euthanasia, progressive schemes have proved disastrous for us Canadians

Any time you care to glimpse our dystopian future, simply look across the pond to Canada, which, under the guidance of woke Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, has become the test zone for some of the world’s most perversely “progressive” social policies. Latest in this series is the effective decriminalisation of hard drug possession: perhaps coming soon to a theatre near you.

Justin Trudeau is looking past the ‘Freedom Convoy’ — but Ottawa is holding its breath

They love Junior in Hamilton!

Ottawa doesn’t need to brace this weekend for a replay of the convoy protest, says the new police chief, because “lots has changed since last year.”

For one thing, the chief has changed. Eric Stubbs, who took over late in 2022, told CBC’s Ottawa Morning on Wednesday that while he hasn’t talked to the man he replaced — former chief Peter Sloly — he is confident the city can avoid the occupation that gripped the capital one year ago and cost Sloly his job.

Justin Trudeau calls protestors who swarmed him outside Hamilton, Ont. restaurant ‘handful of angry people’

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called a group of protesters who swarmed him outside a Hamilton, Ont. restaurant on Tuesday a “handful of angry people.”

Video posted to social media, shows the prime minister walking into Jackson Square, a plaza located near James Street and York Boulevard, while a large group of people yell, swear and call on him to resign.

Uniformed officers are seen protecting Trudeau, ensuring he’s able to walk through the street safely.

John Ivison: Whether careless or cunning, Trudeau’s back to taking risks

Clint Eastwood once said that when you’re young, you’re reckless. Then you get conservative. Then you get reckless again.

The same appears true of prime ministers. Justin Trudeau made some audacious bets on the road to Rideau Hall, from his infamous boxing match with Conservative senator Patrick Brazeau in 2012, to gambling in 2015 that Canadians would accept moderate deficits, the day after NDP leader Tom Mulcair promised his first budget would be balanced. Overnight, Trudeau made himself the agent of change.

Justin Trudeau tells us why he is disliked, what keeps him awake and who Pierre Poilievre is ‘preying on’

Justin Trudeau is very aware of just how much he’s become a lightning rod for anger in Canada.

It’s kind of hard to miss. As we sat together in a meeting room at the University of Windsor this week, a gaggle of protesters with the now-familiar “F— Trudeau” flags were gathered outside, cheered on by a mini-convoy of a dozen or so flag-waving, horn-honking trucks.

“It doesn’t affect me personally in the slightest,” the prime minister says.

But wait. Shouldn’t it?

Kelly McParland: Morneau confirms image-obsessed Trudeau’s management is ‘sorely lacking’

I have no intimate understanding of the mental processes of our prime minister, but if I was getting the sort of feedback on my job performance that he’s been getting, I’d certainly take a moment for honest reflection.

According to a recent survey by the Nanos organization, more than half of Canadians want Justin Trudeau to step aside and let someone else lead the Liberal party into the next election, whenever that might be. Almost as many think the country is headed in the wrong direction.

Just over half of Canadians want Liberals to ditch Trudeau as leader before next election

More than half of Canadians think the Liberals should ditch Justin Trudeau as leader before the next federal election, while 45 per cent think the Conservatives should find an alternative to their new leader, Pierre Poilievre, a Nanos poll for The Globe and Mail shows.

The Canada-wide survey of 1,021 people found that 51 per cent of people want the federal Liberals to replace Mr. Trudeau, while a quarter want him to stay on.

A Canadian dystopia – Justin Trudeau’s ‘liberal’ government is riding roughshod over liberty.

Bored of its reputation as inclusive, open-minded and accepting, Canada opted for an authoritarian rebrand last year.

That, at least, seems to have been the intention of prime minister Justin Trudeau. Over the past year, he has led the way towards making authoritarianism great again, forcing thousands of Canadians to live as second-class citizens, while vilifying those who remain fond of their rights as dangerous bigots who should be cut off from society.

Anthony Furey: A Rough Year Ahead for Justin Trudeau

Back during the lead-up to the 2019 federal election, a number of observers remarked that Justin Trudeau’s first four years as prime minister had been long ones. He’d already racked up a lot of scandals and carried more baggage than other leaders after a single term.

However true that was then, it’s even more so now. And all signs indicate that 2023 is going to be a rough year for Trudeau.
