It has been a month since Vice President Kamala Harris became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. And a glorious month it’s been for Democrats, with an energized party, large, enthusiastic crowds, and adoring press coverage. “Our next president brings the joy,” said Tim Walz, her vice-presidential choice, at a rally in Detroit.

But with all the kumbaya—despite fears of a 1968 reprise, the Dems have put on a mostly drama-free show in Chicago—Harris has avoided saying a single substantive thing, either about her record as vice president or the kind of policies she hopes to enact if she is elected. Her speeches have been heavy on the rhetoric and light on the substance. Most notable of all is that she has yet to give either a press conference or an interview—not even for a hagiographic profile in Time magazine.

Can they really make this work?

It is appropriate that Kamala Harris is from the town of Oakland, Calif., of which it was famously said there was no there there.

It is hard to think of another presidential nominee who has felt so utterly superficial — not as a campaign tactic, but as a reality.

Certainly, she’s nowhere close to as compelling, distinctive, and commanding as Barack Obama and Donald Trump when they rose to become their parties’ nominees.

Everyone invested in a Kamala Harris victory in November isn’t making even the faintest attempt at taking her seriously as a presidential candidate. She’s not one because she has no reason to run for president, no vision, no interest in the job.

The whole point of this herculean, gravity-defying exercise we’re in the midst of isn’t to make Kamala president. It’s to deny Donald Trump the White House. The only way that can happen is for election interference on behalf of Kamala in ways that were once unspeakable.

When Kamala Harris became the presumptive nominee of the Democratic Party, it undoubtedly caused a jolt of enthusiasm for her party, which had been looking at a landslide defeat with Joe Biden on top of the ticket. She took the lead in the polls as well as in the political markets.

During the 2020 election, the DNC announced a partnership with the Action Network, a leftist nonprofit, aimed at raising money to “elect Democrats up and down the ballot”.

Now the Action Network is boasting that “in the first 24 hours after President Biden endorsed Vice President Harris, organizations raised over $70 million using Action Network.”

Right-of-center groups and individuals that don’t usually agree on much have been delivering the same warning to former President Donald Trump: Shut up about Vice President Kamala Harris’ race and stick to attacking her on policy.

Yet they cannot hide what everyone knows to be true: Harris is the ultimate DEI candidate. Candidate Joe Biden chose her as his running mate in 2020 because she is a black woman, and she ascended to the apex of national politics due to her race and sex.

If you leave the media bubble with its insistence that Kamala is brilliant and joyful and, instead, look at Kamala objectively, it’s clear that something is very wrong there. Most of us have assumed that she’s an ambitious dim-bulb who’s been stage-managed into a situation beyond her minimal capabilities and that she responds with strange word salads. However, there are now reports that Kamala’s real problem is that she’s an uncontrolled alcoholic who is showing up drunk at a lot of events. Is this true? I have no idea, but it’s certainly a reasonable explanation for what we’re seeing.

At some point during the past two weeks, the Harris presidential campaign finally realized that the Vice President would be forced to address the most important issue of the election. Consequently, they cobbled together a speech and shoved Harris in front of the cameras last Friday so the voters could watch her read what her teleprompter plans to do about the economy and inflation. And Harris said what it told her to say: “I will work to pass the first ever federal ban on price gauging on food.” Nor did she correct herself. She simply followed the teleprompter’s instructions to pause while her audience clapped like so many trained seals, then she continued to read her lines.

Vice President Harris’s ascent demonstrates the absurdity of believing that minorities are oppressed in America.

Four years ago, Joe Biden, then the Democratic Party’s presumptive nominee for the 2020 presidential election, promised to select a black woman as his running mate. He settled on Kamala Harris, a senator from California and the daughter of Jamaican and Indian immigrants. “Little black and brown girls, who so often feel overlooked and undervalued in their communities, but today, today just maybe, they’re seeing themselves for the first time in a new way, as the stuff of president and vice presidents,” Biden said then.

Now, Harris has supplanted Biden atop the Democrats’ 2024 ticket after the president’s stunning withdrawal. Notably, however, Biden’s endorsement of Harris last month made no mention of her race, ethnicity, or gender. Some Democrats do want to make Harris’s racial and ethnic background the focus of her 2024 presidential campaign. By and large, these haven’t been top-ranking party officials, but rather progressive racial activists—particularly black and white women.

Last week, former President Donald Trump spoke to thousands of supporters at his rally in Asheville, North Carolina. According to reports, a venue worker mentioned that the crowd in line appeared to be significantly greater than the capacity of the 2,500-seat theater.

Kamala Harris gaslights America Friday with her fake plan against “price gouging” designed to hide rather than solve what really causes pain at the checkout line.

“Kamala Harris will call for a federal ban on food and grocery price gouging as part of a broader set of proposals intended to reduce consumer costs,” Bloomberg reports. The proposal also seeks to examine the merger between Albertsons and Kroger.
