Dollar General customer killed entering store ID’d among victims in racially-motivated Fla. shooting

Do Gun-Control Groups Care What Really Causes Mass Shootings? Everytown Lawsuit Says No

The Biden administration has already put nearly 2,000 gun sellers out of business in just two years. Just a few years ago, a lawsuit helped drive the 200-year-old Remington Arms into bankruptcy. But activists won’t stop suing gun shops and anyone else that comes close to the industry.

Last week, attorneys from Everytown Law, the legal arm of Michael Bloomberg’s gun-control group Everytown for Gun Safety, filed a lawsuit against a shop that sold the gun used in the fatal shooting of 10 people at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York, in May 2022. The murderer is a racist who specifically targeted racial minorities. Everytown claims the attack “could have been prevented,” but in fact, the gun seller performed all of the proper background checks.

Survivors of Buffalo Shooting Sue Reddit, YouTube, Gun Dealers

Survivors of a 2022 mass shooting at Buffalo, New York, are suing social media giants and gun vendors in a rare pair of lawsuits that are likely to test the limits of the legal privileges afforded to both Silicon Valley and the firearms industry.

One lawsuit was filed on Wednesday at the Erie County state supreme court. It alleges that the social media giants Reddit and YouTube “transformed and addicted” the shooter, Payton Gendron, by showing him racist videos and blogs. Gendron was sentenced to life in prison earlier this year after he murdered 10 people at a Tops grocery store at Buffalo, all of whom were Black.

It’s democracy in the dark without Nashville shooter manifesto’s release

“Democracy Dies in Darkness” is the (sometimes ironic) slogan of The Washington Post.

But it’s also a fair description of what’s happening in Tennessee, as the state Legislature is being called to a special session even as local and federal officials withhold information that might be critical to its decision-making.

Gov. Bill Lee ordered the special session to begin Aug. 21 in response to a March 27 mass shooting in which three adults and three children at the Covenant School, a Christian school in Nashville’s Green Hills neighborhood, were killed.

Parents’ efforts to suppress Nashville school shooter Audrey Hale’s manifesto would be unprecedented if granted: expert

The efforts of parents and Nashville community members to stop the release of Covenant School shooter Audrey Hale’s writings, if successful, would be an unprecedented move that could have bigger implications going forward, an open-government expert told The Post.

Tennessee’s victims’ rights statute does not give individuals a “carte blanche” to veto other laws, such as the one that allows people the right to public records, said Deborah Fisher, executive director of the Tennessee Coalition for Open Government.

Pittsburgh synagogue gunman found eligible for death penalty

A jury has found a gunman who murdered 11 people in a Pittsburgh synagogue is eligible for the death penalty.

Robert Bowers, 50, was found guilty last month for the October 2018 attack.

This was the second stage of the trial. It now moves on to its final phase, sentencing selection.

The same jury will have to decide if Bowers should receive life in prison or be sentenced to death for carrying out the deadliest antisemitic attack in US history.

Why Won’t the Media Admit When Mass Murderers are Environmentalists?

Instead, they’re described as “white supremacist,”“white nationalist,” and “racist.”

Last Friday, a federal judge sentenced the El Paso Walmart mass murderer, who killed 23 people and wounded another 22, to 90 consecutive life sentences. He still faces additional charges from Texas, where he could receive the death penalty.
