The Misogyny Myth: Women aren’t discriminated against in twenty-first-century America—but men increasingly are.

Misogyny is supposedly rampant in modern society, but where, exactly, does it lurk? For decades, researchers have hunted for evidence of overt discrimination against women as well as subtler varieties, like “systemic sexism” or “implicit bias.” But instead of detecting misogyny, they keep spotting something else.

A tale of two San Franciscos

Local activists sought to show the ‘positive’ side of the city. Here’s what they saw instead

About ten years on from the first appearance of a San Francisco “poop map,” which documented human waste incidents on the city’s streets, the Bay Area gem is struggling more than ever. It boasts a 25.7 percent office vacancy rate, nearly ten percentage points higher than the average rate across the United States. The city’s population fell significantly during the pandemic. Property crime rates are the highest of any city in the country. The streets are filled with homeless encampments that foster grime, drug abuse, sexual assault and violence. Just a few days ago, fashion retailer Nordstrom closed its five-level store in San Francisco after thirty-five years of business. The store had been a fixture of the city’s downtown area.

San Francisco: Landmark Vegan restaurant closes citing ‘nearly impossible’ business conditions in the Doom Loop city

The San Francisco ‘doom loop’ has claimed its latest victim after the doors shut on a pioneering vegan restaurant in the city’s crime-ridden Mission district.

Gracias Madre boasts clients including the Duchess of Sussex, Natalie Portman and Liam Hemsworth at its branch in West Hollywood.

But it shares its neighborhood in the Golden Gate city with an open-air drugs market and hundreds of homeless people.

‘How to Serve White Victims’

Oakland, Calif., is plagued by crime—and by a district attorney, Pamela Price, determined to divide people by race.

After “antiracist” consultant Karen Fleshman finished a training in Oakland, Calif., she took to Facebook to express pride in her work: “Great afternoon training Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price’s Victim Services team in ‘How to Serve White Victims.’ Madam DA Pamela Price is my shero [sic] and mentor. She is a lifelong warrior for justice with compassion.” A few days later, Ms. Price thanked Ms. Fleshman for her “wisdom and support.”

But when I started asking questions about the June 26 training, suddenly trainer and trainee didn’t want to talk about it. Ms. Fleshman didn’t respond to my queries. Neither did the head of the district attorney’s Victim Services Division, Kristina Molina. Ms. Price’s press officer, Patti Lee, told me that she deals with the press, whereas I, as a think-tank employee, have a “specific point of view.”

Inside San Francisco’s ‘dens of death’ as liberal city faces drug crisis

San Francisco’s once-trendy downtown area has descended into a drug-addled hellscape — where addicts regularly overdose in city-funded “dens of death.”

Historic hotels in the Tenderloin neighborhood — which used to be the City by the Bay’s premier entertainment district — are now the face of the progressive California city’s deterioration.

Around 20,000 rooms in about 500 hotels have been converted from coveted tourist destinations into roach- and vermin-infested “Single-Room Occupancy” (SRO) housing for vagrants.

Just think Toronto will soon be a progressive paradise just like San Francisco.

Canada’s woke nightmare: A warning to the West

Canada’s woke nightmare: A warning to the West

Under Justin Trudeau, Canada has sought to position itself as the global bastion of progressive politics. In my latest Telegraph documentary, seen above, I went to the former British colony to find out how Canadians are dealing with Trudeau’s radical reforms; from the promotion of gender ideology in schools and the mass legalisation of drugs, to his extreme new suicide laws and clamp downs on freedom of speech.

I began my investigation in one of the country’s most liberal cities, Vancouver. Possession of up to 2.5 grams of hard drugs, including heroin, cocaine and fentanyl, has been legalised in the city as part of a three year experiment which began in January of this year. If the aim was to combat the opioid crisis that already beset the city then it appears there is still much to be done as vast tent sites line the streets, patrolled by roaming zombie-like drug addicts.

San Francisco bakery refuses to sell to cops in uniform

Doughnut come here with a gun, a popular San Francisco bakery is warning police officers.

Reem’s California, a local Arab street food restaurant and bakery chain, announced that it is enforcing a policy not to serve anyone with a weapon.

“NO COPS ALLOWED. That’s the confirmed policy of the bakery chain Reem’s,” the San Francisco Police Officers’ Association tweeted on August 24.

Silicon Valley elites revealed as buyers of $800m of land to build utopian city

After weeks of local speculation, the purchasers of 55,000 acres of northern California land have been revealed. The group Flannery Associates – backed by a cohort of Silicon Valley investors – has quietly purchased $800m worth of agricultural and empty land, the New York Times has reported. Their goal is to build a utopian new town that will offer its thousands of residents reliable public transportation and urban living, all of which would operate using clean energy.

The project was spearheaded by Jan Sramek, a 36-year-old former trader for the investment banking firm Goldman Sachs, and is backed by prominent Silicon Valley investors including Michael Moritz, a venture capitalist; Reid Hoffman, the co-founder of Linkedin; Laurene Powell Jobs, the founder of the philanthropic group Emerson Collective and wife of Steve Jobs; Marc Andreessen, an investor and software developer; Patrick and John Collison, the sibling co-founders of the payment processor Stripe; and the entrepreneurs Daniel Gross and Nat Friedman, the Times reported.

Portland’s Predictable Doom Loop

The people elected and selected to run Portland, Oregon, are like kids who get their first car and never think to change the oil. The city is led by a cadre of ardent leftists who thought they could just rev the engine, ignore maintenance, and see the city magically run itself. Instead, they’ve driven the City of Roses into a Doom Loop.

Toronto’s fate is sealed.

Leftists will always promise a brighter tomorrow that never arrives no matter how much money is spent.

Things will only get worse in TO just as they do in every US city controlled by Democrats.

California Gives Shoplifters Another Free Pass

New legislation would handcuff retailers and impose costly new regulatory burdens.

SACRAMENTO — Several years ago, I was shopping in a Santa Ana big-box store when a nondescript young man asked the clerk to show him a video game system — probably a $200-to-$300 item — that was kept in a locked cabinet. She handed it to him and he then nonchalantly put it under his arm and slowly walked away with it, exiting through the alarmed exit door. Employees and customers (myself included) just stood there and watched this theft take place.

Chicago sues automakers over cars being stolen

Brandon Johnson – Looting Enthusiast

For several years now, Chicago’s spiraling crime rates have featured a shocking increase in the number of vehicular thefts and carjackings. The Chicago Police Department recorded an increase in car thefts from 9,000 to 21,000 in just the past three years. Among the most popular cars to steal are Kias and Hyundais, possibly because they are the easiest to break into and drive away.

A Nordstrom Rack in Riverside has been ransacked by a band of six thieves who made off with thousands of dollars worth of designer handbags.

The incident come as Southern California experiences a wave of ‘flash robberies’, where a group of thieves overwhelm a store’s employees and security before making off with as many items as possible.

The department store on Canyon Springs Parkway was hit first on July 10 and again just weeks later in a separate incident on August 14.

Council meeting in affluent San Francisco neighborhood descends into chaos as residents protest turning hotel into homes for 100 homeless people

A local council meeting in an affluent San Francisco neighborhood descended into chaos when hundreds of ‘rowdy’ residents began booing plans to place homeless people in a nearby hotel.

Crowds of angry Millbrae residents packed out their local community hall on Friday to protest ‘Project Homekey’ proposals to house 100 rough sleepers at the La Quinta hotel on El Camino Real, close to the city center.

So many people turned up that hundreds had to stand outside the 300-man capacity hall to hear proposals outlined by San Mateo County Executive Mike Callagy.
