The elephant in the reparations room

Marianne Celeste Dragon

A recent proposal for reparations for slavery in San Francisco has now become a part of the United States’ endless conversation about race, more specifically, the conversation in which whites are demonized as slave owners, and blacks are extolled as slaves. Of course, slavery was ended in the United States in 1865, one hundred and fifty-eight years ago, so no white person alive today in the United States is guilty of being a slave owner, nor are there any blacks alive today in the United States who have suffered as slaves, at least not in America, but let that pass. That is not the elephant.

Bill Maher rips San Francisco reparations plan as ‘woke craziness’

Bill Maher, host of HBO’s Real Time, blasted San Francisco’s plan for millions in reparations for black residents as “crazy” and “too far” on Friday night.

Victimhood Forever

California’s preposterous push to offer reparations to blacks—in a state where slavery never existed—will inflame racial tensions.

In December 2022, California’s nine-member Reparations Task Force, formed by Governor Gavin Newsom two years earlier, estimated that, if a reparations program were ever adopted, each black person in the state descended from slaves could receive as much as $223,200 in compensation for past injustice. The projected total cost, to California taxpayers, could reach $569 billion—almost two and a half times the state’s current budget. The task force is due to give its final recommendations in June 2023, including the exact monetary amount of compensation. “We are looking at reparations on a scale that is the largest since Reconstruction,” said one task-force member.

Why slavery reparations are a terrible idea

San Francisco’s reparations plans are divisive, demeaning and insane.

To see how destructive identity politics can be, how toxic and divisive, look no further than San Francisco’s crazy reparations idea. San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors appointed a panel to consider whether reparations should be paid to the city’s black residents for the historic crimes of slavery and racism. The panel decreed that, yes, they should be. Every eligible black citizen of San Francisco should get $5million each, it said. They should also get $97,000 a year for the rest of their lives and be able to buy homes in the city for $1. Incredibly, the Board of Supervisors is seriously considering the recommendations rather than hurling them into the trashcan of crackpot ideas that deserve not a split second’s contemplation, which is where they should be.

San Franciscans line up at board meeting to sing and shout their support for a reparations plan to give every black resident $5M, wipe personal debt, provide $97K incomes and homes for just $1 – and no one asks how the city will foot the bill

San Francisco residents lined up at a city board meeting last night to share their full-throated support of a wide-eyed reparations plan that would award every black resident $5million, wipe their personal debt, guarantee $97,000 incomes for 250 years and $1 homes.

But no one at the emotional meeting – where residents burst into song and begged to be made ‘whole’ – asked how the struggling, debt-addled city might pay for it.

Reparations are being considered in various Democratic cities around America as a means of providing compensation to the descendants of enslaved African-Americans.

San Francisco to air Black reparations plan, $5M per person

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A controversial draft reparations proposal that includes a $5 million lump-sum payment for each eligible Black person could make San Francisco the first major U.S. city to fund reparations, though it faces steep financial headwinds and blistering criticism from conservatives.

Tuesday’s meeting of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors will include a presentation by San Francisco’s African American Reparations Advisory Committee, which released its draft report in December. The $5 million-per-person payment is among more than 100 recommendations ranging from offering grants to buy and maintain homes to exempting Black businesses from paying taxes.

San Francisco reparations and the Golden Age of Revision

White Slaves in Africa ~ Forgotten History of the Sultans & Barbary Pirates

For just $5 million per person, we can rid ourselves of the iron burden of truth

We live in the Golden Age of Revision. Not everyone has noticed, so let me mention some of the highlights of the art of the Michelangelos and Monets of the revisionist moment.

First, of course, we have found the path to revising birth certificates and chromosomes on the matter of an individual’s sex, or as we have been taught to say, gender. This is revision par excellence, but only the beginning.

State task force boosts reparations figure to $360K for each black Californian

A reparations task force in California has increased the amount of money it wants taxpayers to hand out in compensation for racial discrimination and enslavement.

After first proposing $220,000 payments last year, The California Reparations Task Force proposed at a meeting Friday that every black citizen in the state be given a $360,000 check.

The project could cost as much as $640 billion — but there was no word on how it would be funded in the cash-strapped state.

I think we should demand reparations for state sponsored hate.

Angela Davis’ ancestry reveals the folly of reparations

The radical activist’s ‘settler’ roots remind us why no one should feel guilty about the actions of their ancestors.

Angela Davis’ encounter with her own ancestry has unwittingly exposed the follies of America’s reparations debate.

The name Angela Davis is a by-word for black radicalism in America. While a student at Brandeis University in the 1960s, she joined the Black Panther Party and also the Communist Party USA. She studied under Professor Herbert Marcuse, a living link between German Marxism and American liberation movements. In 1969, she was fired from a teaching post in California for being a Communist, at the order of then governor Ronald Reagan.

Hulu‘s ‘1619 Project‘: Slavery Reparations Will Cost U.S. Taxpayers at Least $14 Trillion

Disney’s Hulu docuseries The 1619 Project has put a price tag on slavery reparations for black Americans. The final bill for U.S. taxpayers will come to about $14 trillion — and that, one “expert” says, is letting America off easy.

The alarming figure comes in the series’ sixth and final episode during a conversation between the New York Times‘ Nikole Hannah-Jones and William Darity Jr., a Duke University professor and proponent of social “equity.”

Boston reparations task force appoints TWO 11th graders and a BLM-supporting college student to decide how much money to pay black community

Among the 10 people who will decide whether to pay members of Boston’s black community are two high schoolers and one college student.

High school juniors Damani Williams and Denilson Fanfan, as well as 22-year-old University of Massachusetts student and Black Lives Matter organizer Carrie Mays, were named to the city’s reparations task force on Tuesday.

It is unclear what expertise the two high schoolers will provide, but a profile of the Jeremiah E Burke High School says it is located in ‘one of Boston’s most historically marginalized areas.’

San Fran: $5 million in reparations for Black residents not enough

The eye-rolling taking place across much of the country after a San Francisco advisory committee recommended five million dollar reparation payments for qualifying Black residents has truly been something to behold. The ludicrous amounts of money being discussed for residents of a state that never adopted slavery seem to be yet another symptom of a progressive movement that has simply lost its mind.

Chair of California reparations panel pushes for wealth, mansion, or property tax to pay billions to descendants of slaves

The chair of California’s reparations panel is apparently pushing for a wealth tax, mansion tax or a property tax to pay billions of dollars to descendants of slaves.

Members of the California task force set up under woke Gov. Gavin Newsom have previously proposed paying each black resident in the state $223,000.

To make up those funds, Kamilah V. Moore tweeted over the weekend that the panel is considering proposing a state estate tax, a mansion tax or a graduated-property tax in its final recommendations to the state legislature, which are due this summer.

Good time to rent that U-Haul.

Activist at slavery reparations meeting in California blasts the proposed $223,000 payments – yelling almost a quarter of a million dollars for each black resident is ‘NOT ENOUGH’

Mr. Shakey ‘Shakedown’ Johnson

An activist at a slavery reparations meeting in California blasted the $223,000 payments proposed for black residents in the state – yelling almost a quarter of a million dollars for each person is ‘not enough’.

The eye-popping outburst came from Reverend Tony Pierce who voiced his dissatisfaction after California Secretary of State Dr. Shirley Weber opened up the floor to the public.

Nine task force members held the meeting in San Diego and welcomed guests for public comments to discuss California AB 3121, the bill signed by Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom looking into reparations for black ctiziens.
