Federal Investigators Discover Minnesota’s Somali Daycare Fraud Dates Back a Decade

A federal fraud investigation into Minnesota daycare centers has uncovered a troubling discovery — the scheme may have been operating undetected for more than a decade.

The discovery was unearthed from evidence in a 2018 fraud case out of Hennepin County against multiple daycare centers for allegedly swindling the government out of more than $1 million. A video of a 2015 Fox 9 KMSP report alleged that low-income parents would sign up their children for daycare services, which would then claim reimbursement for those services that were never provided.

Walz Finally Responds to Viral Video Showing Empty Somali Childcare Center That Received $4 Million in State Funds

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is finally attempting to defend fraud allegations sparked by a viral video showing a childcare center sitting largely empty despite pocketing millions in state funds.

A spokesperson for Mr. Walz’s office said the governor has spent years working to “crack down on fraud” and has strengthened oversight of state programs, launching investigations into multiple facilities. The statement came in response to questions about a video posted by independent journalist Nick Shirley.

40-person Somali mob hacked 18-year-old to death in London – and the uncomfortable facts about a diaspora most tiptoe around

Somali Riot Hackney London

Donald Trump spat out the word like something rotten: ‘Garbage,’ he said. ‘They contribute nothing. I don’t want them in our country.’ His voice rising, his rage unmistakable, he railed against Somali immigrants in the United States.

It was a line designed to explode across the airwaves.

Trump wasn’t shouting into a void – he was pressing on a wound. In Minnesota, home to one of America’s biggest Somali communities, prosecutors are unpicking one of the largest frauds in US history.

The FBI says that during the Covid-era, the Feeding Our Future non-profit organisation – which claimed to be serving more than 40,000 meals to poor schoolchildren every week – siphoned off $250million (£187million) in grants and donations, and funnelled the money into luxury cars, houses and private bank accounts.

In Minnesota, Echoes of Failed Somali Experiment in Europe

There are scandals that explode with theatrical outrage, and there are scandals that settle over a nation like a quiet, damning verdict. Minnesota’s autism-therapy fraud belongs firmly in the latter category. On November 22, 2025, The Washington Post noted — with the weary delicacy that now accompanies every public-sector failure — that welfare fraud in Minnesota had become “far too common,” highlighting federal charges against eight men, six of them Somali, accused of exploiting the state’s Housing Stabilization Services program under Medicaid and helping force the program’s shutdown.

Somali student in Minnesota threatens to ‘pop’ ICE agents in expletive-ridden, viral rant

Hasan Mohamed was blasted after he posted the menacing anti-ICE tirade on social media, where he vowed to shoot immigration agents the next time they show up in his Owatonna neighborhood.

The Somali Grift Isn’t Just for Minnesota Anymore

I tell you what – Democrats and Somalis are going to rue the day the Senate Dems forced the government into that extended shutdown. That was the tipping point, and just the extra bit of time needed to bring this extraordinary, biblical amount of waste, fraud, and abuse into the public sphere, where it had been floating at the edges for decades.

Everyone has been watching the Minnesota Somali scandals get deeper, more sordid, and, oh, dear God – more expensive than we ever thought possible.

American Taxpayers Are Paying Somalis Millions To Not Assimilate

Civil war and famine spurred many Somalians to immigrate to the United States in 1991 and settle in Minnesota. That was 34 years ago. Somalians could have assimilated into U.S. culture by now, but American taxpayers have been roped into funding programs that coddle Somalians’ Third-World culture and disincentivize their assimilation.

Taking out the garbage in Minnesota

President Trump has had enough. A majority of Americans have had enough of Ilhan Omar’s ingratitude.

So last week, Trump minced no words. He came straight out and called her “garbage,” and then called “her friends” also garbage.

No doubt he was referring to her fellow Somalis out there in Minneapolis who number at around 100,000, and do nothing “but complain,” according to Trump.

‘Holding my breath:’ Fear in Ottawa after Trump tirade against Somali immigrants

Somali Canadians living in Ottawa have condemned U.S. President Donald Trump’s tirade against Somali immigrants and their country, saying it has stoked fear and concern within the local community.

Trump’s invective came during a cabinet meeting Tuesday, soon after reports that federal authorities were preparing a targeted immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota focused on Somalis living illegally in the U.S.

Trump called Somali immigrants “garbage” who “contribute nothing” to the U.S. and said “I don’t want them in our country.”

You have to read this LA Times Story – U.S. Proves Bewildering for Somali Refugees

“… In their three-bedroom home in a working-class neighborhood, Lamungu, his wife, mother and six children are learning the most rudimentary basics of American life. How to use mouthwash. Toothpaste. Deodorant. They have been taught, but frequently get the items confused: A stick of deodorant is placed next to cereal boxes in the kitchen; mouthwash is hard to distinguish from dish soap.

One day, they thought they were locked in their apartment because they forgot how to unlock the door. A car trip means passing out bags to the children because they get sick from the new motion. The family had to be told to take their own garbage out; they saw their neighbor’s trash bag and decided to add their trash to it.”

Somali fraud in Minnesota is the ‘biggest theft of taxpayer dollars in US HISTORY’, White House says

Somali refugees in Minnesota have committed the ‘biggest theft of taxpayer dollars in US history’ and local Democratic officials were ‘fully complicit’ in the scheme, White House officials declared Friday night.

Federal authorities announced this week that at least 86 people – mostly within small Somali communities in the state – have stolen more than $1 billion in public funds from programs meant to feed children, assist the homeless and provide autism therapy.

The suspects allegedly ran companies that billed Minnesota state officials for millions of dollars in social services that were never actually rendered in three separate fraud schemes.

How Somalis see the ‘Black Hawk Down’ battle three decades on

Despite being surrounded by the debris of an ongoing civil war, Mogadishu’s residents in the early 1990s embraced the moments of serenity.

The warm Sunday sunshine and cooling ocean breeze made for the perfect opportunity for Binti Ali Wardhere, 24 at the time, to visit relatives with her mother.

“That day was calm,” she remembers.

But like everyone else in the city she was unaware that the Americans were getting ready to attack warlord Mohamed Farah Aideed – and what happened would change her life forever.

Car bombings kill at least 100 in Mogadishu, says Somali president

Somalia’s president says at least 100 people were killed on Saturday in two car bombings at a busy junction in the capital, Mogadishu, and the toll could rise in the country’s deadliest attack since a truck bombing at the same spot five years ago killed more than 500.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, at the site of the explosions in Mogadishu, told journalists that nearly 300 other people were wounded. “We ask our international partners and Muslims around the world to send their medical doctors here since we can’t send all the victims outside the country for treatment,” he said.

How can they tell when a bomb goes off? Does the place look better post detonation?

Somali pirates lose their grip on global shipping

Piracy in the Horn of Africa is no longer a threat to global shipping, an industry group has said, ending the era of swaggering Somali pirates taking hostages and seizing cargo.

From next year the Indian Ocean will no longer be considered high risk because no attacks on merchant vessels off Somalia have been reported since 2018. “This announcement is a testament to nearly fifteen years of dedicated collaboration to reduce the threat of piracy in the Indian Ocean,” the International Maritime Organisation said in a statement.

I’m sure Justin will offer them citizenship.
