P.E.I. man faces first terror charges in Atlantic, for allegedly 3D-printing firearms

CHARLOTTETOWN – A man in Prince Edward Island is facing terrorism charges for allegedly making firearms with a 3D printer and uttering threats online against certain individuals and groups, the RCMP announced Wednesday.

The Mounties issued a statement saying 51-year-old Daniel Desmond Crowder had been charged with two terrorism-related offences under the Criminal Code, adding that the case marks the first time this type of charge has been laid in Atlantic Canada.

“The investigation started in February and he was making threats online to people and organizations,” RCMP Cpl. Erique Gasse said in an interview. “With … what we found in his computer … we are comfortable with laying those charges against Mr. Crowder.”

Quebec men accused in alleged extremist plot will go to trial following federal indictment

Three men accused of facilitating terrorism in Quebec will be sent to trial after the federal Crown prosecutor’s office filed a direct indictment on Nov. 7, along with new charges.

The move effectively bypasses a preliminary inquiry requested by the men’s lawyers in September.

Filed with authorization of the attorney general of Canada or deputy attorney general, the indictment means the case will now be sent to Superior Court, where a trial could take place in 2026.

In July, the RCMP charged four men, including two active members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), with being part of an alleged anti-government plot to forcibly take over land in the Quebec City region

How the FBI’s massive search for the D.C. pipe bomber stalled

In the weeks after a mob attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, the FBI dedicated more than 50 agents to one task: Finding the person who had planted a pair of pipe bombs near the Capitol.

Again and again, agents thought they were closing in on the culprit.

Early on, they questioned a Capitol Hill-area gym employee who had purchased the same Nike shoes as a person captured in grainy security camera footage crisscrossing the area the night before the riot. Then they suspected a man who had been spotted snapping photos of locations outside the Republican and Democratic Party headquarters before the bombs were placed there. Later, agents found an actual bombmaker — he just turned out to be the wrong one.

Apple Pauses Its New Show About Domestic Terrorism

So it appears Apple TV+ was going to release a new show this Friday called The Savant. The show stars actress Jessica Chastain as an investigator who profiles and identifies would-be domestic terrorists in an attempt to stop them before they commit violent crimes. But today Apple announced it would be postponing the release of the show, apparently out of concern the the subject matter is too raw after the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

Hollywood remains detached from reality and see’s only one type of terrorism of course.

Poilievre says he worries for his family as political violence concerns grow in Canada, U.S.

Pierre Poilievre says he worries for his family as political violence concerns grow in the U.S. and Canada following the fatal shooting of an American right-wing activist — and the Conservative leader believes all of Canada’s top politicians should have protection.

“We have had very serious threats to the point where the RCMP decided that it merited protection for my family and I for a prolonged period of time,” Poilievre said in a sit-down interview with CBC’s The House.

“I think all the political leaders and ministers who face real threats, according to the RCMP’s assessment, they should have protection so that something like this does not happen on our turf.”

Gurski: How safe from attack can public events really be?

Toronto Diversity Bollards

Recently, the village of Russell held its semi-annual “Meet me on Main Street” event (it alternates years with nearby Embrun). This gathering has become popular of late in small communities in eastern Ontario, where local vendors and groups set up tables and engage with their neighbours.

This year’s edition was a huge success, with hundreds of residents milling along the main drag, Concession Street. The hot, muggy weather was no deterrent, although I must confess the presence of two craft breweries helped.

Mohammedan Climate Nutter Latest Flavor of “Canadian Terrorism”

Ex-pilot called himself messiah on climate-change mission, day before alleged hijack

The day before the suspected hijacking of a light aircraft triggered a security scare at Vancouver’s airport this week, former commercial pilot Shaheer Cassim posted on social media that he was a “messenger of Allah” sent to save humanity from climate change.

A 39-year-old man with the same name has now been charged with hijacking, constituting terrorism, over the incident on Tuesday that saw Norad scramble F-15 fighter jets before the light plane safely landed.

The Threat From Far-Right Extremists Pales in Comparison to Jihadi Terrorism

Remember Chicken Little (a.k.a. Henny Penny)? She was the one running around warning that the sky was falling and spreading panic all around. In the end, the heavens were not, in fact, plummeting, and we now use the phrase “Chicken Little” to describe those who spread myths about danger that are ill-founded.

Last week, Canadians learned of an “imminent” plot by four men in Quebec, including two members of the Armed Forces, that probably came as a bombshell (no pun intended) to those tuning in. This “anti-authoritarian militia” had weapons, planned to seize land, had engaged in “training,” and appeared to be recruiting like-minded people online.

Soldiers accused in alleged militia plot had limited access to army bases, equipment

The soldiers charged in connection with an alleged terrorist conspiracy had been under restrictions that limited their access to army bases and equipment, and none of the weapons, ammunition or explosives in their alleged arsenal originated from the Canadian military, the Department of National Defence (DND) says.

The statement from the DND on Monday morning did not say where those items, which were seized as part of the RCMP-led investigation that led to four arrests last week, came from.

RCMP charges CAF members with trying to create ‘anti-government militia’ and seize land

Three men face a terrorism charge for allegedly planning to create an anti-government militia and seize land in Quebec, according to the RCMP.

According to a news release Tuesday morning, the Mounties say the group was involved in an alleged ideologically motivated violent extremism plot “intending to forcibly take possession of land in the Québec City area” and included active members of the Canadian Armed Forces.

I bet at least two are RCMP.
