The decline and fall of the Associated Press

The AP’s building in Gaza collapses after an Israeli air strike. Is the organization’s credibility crumbling too?

Once, long ago, in a land far away, the best journalists tried to stand aloof from the stories they reported. The idea was simple and powerful. If journalists tried to be neutral and kept their reporting separate from their opinions, analysis, and speculation, then the public would believe them.

Those days are long gone — and the media’s credibility is gone with them. Journalists and media organizations are now smack in the middle of many stories they cover, in part because they want to be. They want to spin them, to set ‘the Narrative’.

Understanding the media’s role in the Rebekah Jones grift

Here’s a rule of thumb: If the mainstream media is selling it, you shouldn’t be buying it. Nowhere is that made clearer than with the way the media shilled for Rebekah Jones, who claimed to be a data analyst who caught Florida governor Ron DeSantis faking his state’s COVID statistics and was then fired for and harassed about her whistleblowing. Because Jones managed to tar both a rising Republican star and Donald Trump (all bad COVID news in 2020 tarred Trump), the media couldn’t get enough of her. It turned out, though, that Jones was a grifter and a felon.

Beware of Media Myth-Makers

Why is everything now subject to political propaganda?

Abasic tactic of political propaganda is to brand your opponents as dishonest or stupid. No one trusts a known liar, and no one wants to be associated with beliefs they consider stupid. Unfortunately, propaganda is generally a tool of liars, and many people are too stupid to recognize the difference between propaganda and news.

New York Times, Washington Post, NBC News All Forced To Retract False Claims About Trump Lawyer Rudy Giuliani

New York Times, Washington Post, NBC News All Forced To Retract False Claims About Trump Lawyer Rudy Giuliani

The biggest papers of record in the U.S. — The New York Times and The Washington Post — have been forced to retract a report about the FBI’s communication with former President Trump’s longtime lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

The Post on Thursday was the first to report that Giuliani was explicitly warned by the FBI that he was the target of a Russian effort to influence the 2020 presidential election. Citing unnamed sources — identified only as people familiar with the matter — also said the conservative news network One America News (OAN) was also warned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

When Motive Matters—And When It Doesn’t

What the media did (and didn’t) cover at Atlanta, Boulder, and the Capitol

Nearly a week after Robert Aaron Long opened fire at two Atlanta-area spas, killing eight people, including six Asian women, MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart offered a stirring sermon to his viewers on the attack, insisting it was yet another instance of “discrimination and violence” against Asian Americans.

“We must not be cowed by the terror unleashed by white men drowning in the deep end of racism, xenophobia, and misogyny,” Capehart said. “We must not let fellow Americans of Asian descent think for one minute they’re alone.”

STUDY: Once Top Trump-Bashers, TV News Now Loves Joe Biden

For four years, the liberal media led the Left’s fierce resistance to the Trump administration, slamming the President night after night after night. Now, a new study by the Media Research Center finds the broadcast evening newscasts have executed a full flip-flop, as they aid and abet liberal President Joe Biden’s administration with mostly positive coverage.

A Recipe for More Tragedy – The media’s rush to judgment on the Adam Toledo shooting will come with a high cost.

Last night, as I scrolled through my newsfeed on Facebook, I saw multiple posts referring to the shooting of 13-year-old Adam Toledo by Chicago police officer Eric Stillman, video (warning: graphic) of which had just been released by the city’s Civilian Office of Police Accountability.

All the posts linked to news stories with headlines emphasizing one detail: at the moment Toledo was struck by the officer’s gunfire, his hands were raised and appeared to be empty.

CNN Ratings Down 54 PERCENT Since Inauguration Day

CNN has been hemorrhaging viewers since President Biden took office, with ratings down more than 50 percent in multiple categories since Inauguration Day.

The liberal network spent years attacking former President Donald Trump and the network thrived during his final days in office amid a brief post-election spike. CNN averaged 2.2 million viewers during the first three weeks of 2021, but it has averaged just one million viewers since Biden took office, a staggering decline of 54 percent.

Why the media love Biden’s Afghanistan withdrawal

The President’s policy is identical to Donald Trump’s — but that’s not how CNN sees it

This week Joe Biden announced that the United States would begin withdrawing it’s military from Afghanistan in May, with the aim of leaving the country entirely by September 11th.

Biden is not the first President to announce this move. President Trump did so in 2019, and again in 2020.

Given that Biden is enacting exactly the same policy Trump wanted to pursue, you might expect the media coverage of these announcements to be similar.

‘It’s Tragic’: Glenn Greenwald Laments Destruction Of Media Credibility, Pinpoints ‘Trump Years’ As Breaking Point

Journalist Glenn Greenwald on Tuesday lamented how historically trustworthy major corporate news outlets have destroyed their own credibility, especially during the years of the Trump administration.

“I’ve been a critic of corporate media outlets for 15 years but always assumed one could get basic facts (even if flawed) by reading them. I now no longer think this,” Greenwald tweeted. “Their journalistic and business model makes me distrust everything I read there.”

Nolte: Disgraced ‘60 Minutes‘ Deceptively Edits Ron DeSantis Video

CBS News’ disgraced news magazine 60 Minutes has been caught maliciously editing comments made by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) about a fake “pay for play” conspiracy theory, which fake media outlets like 60 Minutes are trying to fabricate out of thin air.

Side Note: DeSantis’ full and complete and reasonable answer was available on YouTube, but now the exculpatory YouTube video has mysteriously vanished after conservatives began sharing it.

Media Quickly Moves On From Man Who Killed Capitol Police Officer After Learning He Supported Louis Farrakhan

As soon as media outlets and Leftists learned the identity of the suspect in Friday’s attack on U.S. Capitol Police, they quickly pivoted to discussing gun control rather than continuing their narrative that “white supremacy” was behind the attack.

When does the media cover a horrific crime? – When the perps are white

What makes a tragic death a major news story? The races of the perpetrators and the victims, of course. As the media goes all in on critical race theory, many journalists have decided to only provide obsessive coverage of horrific crimes when they can be used to advance the idea — as so eloquently explained by NBA star LeBron James — that minorities are being ‘literally hunted’ by evil white people.

Proof of this phenomenon has never been so clear as in the past several weeks.

The NYT’s Dishonest Coverage of Miami’s ‘Spring Break’ Chaos

What a curious thing it must be to write for the New York Times. Your employer has cultivated an educated audience that knows less about what is really happening in America than does the average Joe, and your mandate is to keep that audience ignorant.

The recent chaos in Miami Beach presented an opportunity to do just that. If the three reporters assigned to the story — “Miami Beach, Overwhelmed by Spring Break, Extends Emergency Curfew” — had spent just an hour on Google, they would know what Joe knows. To get this story past their woke editors, however, they apparently had to pretend that Joe doesn’t know what he knows.
