Soldiers told to avoid Christian ‘elements’ in Acts of Remembrance

Guidance, seen by The Telegraph, is part of push across Armed Forces by MoD to encourage diversity and inclusion

The Army has told soldiers to avoid “religious elements” in Acts of Remembrance on Armistice Day, documents seen by The Telegraph reveal.

The Army’s “Policy, Guidance and Instructions on Inclusive Behaviours”, published in June 2022, states that “Acts of Remembrance, on Armistice Day and others, should be inclusive and seek to avoid being conducted as a wholly religious event”.

The guidance continues: “Acts of Remembrance should be agnostic of religious elements and separated from Remembrance Services. This may be achieved by holding a religious service after the Act of Remembrance.”

The many thousands of Brit soldiers who gave their lives in battle were for the most part Christian.

To deny the dead religious observance is deeply disrespectful of their sacrifice.

‘Russian spy in MI6’ returned to UK on Afghan evacuation flight

An alleged Russian spy who had been stripped of his citizenship was flown to Britain during the evacuation of Kabul even though he had been excluded because of national security fears.

The suspected agent, who worked at the Foreign Office and had access to top secret documents, had been told in 2019 that his British citizenship was being removed due to the spying allegations and that he was considered a national security risk.

‘I refuse to be complicit in baptism dishonesty’

Reverend Matthew Firth tells how he wanted to hit stop button on the ‘conveyor belt’ of asylum seekers converting to Christianity

In 2018, when the Reverend Matthew Firth took up his new post at St Cuthbert’s, the church which has been at the heart of the north-eastern market town of Darlington since the 12th century, he was eager to bring new souls to the faith he passionately believes in.

It didn’t take long, however, for Matthew to figure out that there was something suspicious about the large number of souls from the Middle East who were queuing up to be converted to Christianity.

Revealed: suspected Russian spy ‘worked for MI6’ and Foreign Office

The refugee from Afghanistan, who met David Cameron, Gordon Brown and the future King, denies wrongdoing but says MI5 has accused him of being groomed by Russia since the age of five

An alleged Russian spy lied to gain asylum in the UK before he worked for the Foreign Office, accessed British military and intelligence secrets and met with the future King, The Times has learnt.

The refugee from Afghanistan, who is accused of spying for Russia’s military intelligence agency, also worked for GCHQ and MI6, a court heard.

He worked with two prime ministers and met Prince Charles and Prince William on visits to Afghanistan while working for the British government. He ultimately obtained both Russian and British citizenship.

Church of England Branded “Stupid” Over Migrant Conversion Claims

Forty illegal migrants being housed on the Bibby Stockholm accommodation barge in Dorset are reportedly converting to Christianity. That amounts to almost one in seven of those said to be on board.

But officials fear that migrants are faking conversions simply to have their asylum claims accepted, and are considering limiting the role of the Church of England in the approvals process. Allison Pearson, columnist at The Daily Telegraph, asked “how stupid and craven is the Church of England” to believe that all of these claims are genuine.

How Britain killed off its musical tribes

When the Teddy boys burst onto the scene at the start of the drab Fifties, they established the template for all subcultures to follow. There have always been ultra-loyal music fans of individual artists, but this was something else: a look, and a lifestyle. The pattern usually went something like this: establish a uniform, adopt a musical preference, stir up the media to a predictable frenzy (wittingly or unwittingly), be denounced in Parliament, endure hand-wringing editorials declaring that civilisation is about to collapse, and then gradually become yesterday’s news as the hysteria blows over. Oh and, most discreditably of all, be written off as old farts by a younger subculture who have stepped up to take your place in the firing line.

Mass migration will permanently alter Britain

It’s not just a matter of hospitals and houses. The British way of life could be irrevocably changed

Call me old-fashioned, but I rather liked our country when women and children didn’t have acid thrown at them in the street, teachers weren’t forced into hiding with their family for educating pupils about religious tolerance, Saturdays in the capital didn’t feature anti-Semitic hate marches and well-loved Members of Parliament didn’t quit their jobs after being subject to death threats because they spoke up for their Jewish constituents.

Islamism is destroying British democracy

Mike Freer’s decision to step down as the MP for Finchley & Golders Green – a north London constituency with a sizeable Jewish population – is yet another victory for Islamist aggressors against British liberal democracy.

In his letter to the chairman of the local party, Freer highlighted serious threats to his personal safety whilst serving as a parliamentarian. When meeting with constituents at a mosque back in 2011, he was accosted by a group of men belonging to “Muslims Against Crusades”. Freer, who is openly gay and an unapologetic supporter of Israel, had to be relocated to a locked room for protection.

Iran spies sanctioned by UK over plot to kill journalists in London

The UK has sanctioned a network of Iranian spies who plotted to assassinate two Persian-language journalists on the streets of London.

The two news presenters worked for Iran International, a TV channel based in west London that has fallen foul of the regime in Tehran.

A people-smuggler turned informant was offered $200,000 to carry out the killings, an investigation by ITV revealed last year, which found the plot had been orchestrated by members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

Police wrestle ‘knifeman’ to the floor after ‘attacker threatened shoppers at Jewish grocery store in Golders Green & yelled anti-Semitic slurs’

This is the dramatic moment police today arrested a suspected knifeman after shoppers at a Jewish grocery store in London’s Golders Green were threatened in an alleged anti-Semitic incident.

Officers were called to Kay’s Supermarket on Hamilton Road following reports that an alleged knifeman was making threats to customers and shop assistants and shouting anti-Jewish slurs.

The 34-year-old entered the shop and demanded that staff answer his questions about events ‘in Palestine’, according to Campaign Against Antisemitism. The staff declined and said they didn’t want to ‘talk about politics’ at which point the man allegedly took out a knife.

British warships lack firepower to attack Houthi land targets

Britain’s warships cannot attack Houthi targets on land because they lack the firepower, in a situation described by former defence chiefs as a “scandal”.

None of the Royal Navy’s destroyers or frigates have the ability to fire missiles at targets on land, leaving the US to carry out the majority of strikes on Houthi targets with support from RAF planes based 1,500 miles away.

A British defence source said HMS Diamond, the destroyer stationed in the Red Sea, had not joined retaliatory strikes on Houthi targets because it did not have “the capability to fire to land targets”. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said it had instead been “directly involved in successfully destroying Houthi drones targeting shipping in the Red Sea”.

U.K. suspends trade negotiations with Canada, as each accuse the other of not budging

OTTAWA – The United Kingdom is hitting the brakes on trade talks with Canada after Ottawa decided to not extend two temporary measures put in place after Brexit.

London announced the pause in negotiations today, less than a month before the next round of talks towards a permanent trade deal was expected to take place.

No Army for White Men: Britain’s Self-Inflicted Recruiting Crisis

In wartime, countries depend not on ideological quotas but on fighting talent.

In Britain, the obsessive drive to boost ‘diversity’ across all sectors of society has no shortage of casualties to its name. One of them is merit: talent being both rare and useful, it should be sought wherever it can be found. To make an a priori fetish of women and ethnic minorities will inevitably interfere with what should be a scrupulously evidence-based, talent-seeking process. The most recent casualty, however, is nothing less than Britain’s power to maintain itself in existence as a country.

War with Russia is coming. Britain is determined to lose

With Ukraine desperately battling to bolster its defences against an impending Russian winter offensive, and Israeli forces struggling to make headway against fanatical Hamas terrorists in Gaza, Western resolve understandably finds itself under intense scrutiny.

Vladimir Putin’s decision to launch his “special military operation” against Ukraine was motivated by a belief that the West would not mount any meaningful opposition.

Britain isn’t a free country

I’m old enough to remember when ‘it’s a free country’ was a phrase people used in conversation. It feels like it was the kind of thing they said regularly, either when someone asked permission to do something or when commenting on some particular eccentricity. Can I sit there? It’s a free country. You want to walk around dressed up as a pirate? Well, it’s a free country.

Perhaps it reflected a self-conscious British sense of themselves as freedom-loving people – which isn’t really true, or at least hasn’t been since 1914 – or maybe it was a Cold War thing. But I don’t think I’ve heard the phrase in at least 20 years, and perhaps that’s because it’s just not true anymore. If that sounds like the sort of hysteria you’d expect from a conservative commentator who’s been on the sherry, just consider a few recent cases.
