If past practice is the best indicator of future performance, take Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s about-to-be-announced plan to dramatically lower Canada’s greenhouse gas emissions by up to 45% below 2005 levels by 2030, with a huge grain of salt.

NewsGuard, the establishment “news-rating” project that presents itself as a source of expert knowledge on which news sources can be trusted and which ones cannot, addressed its track record on the Hunter Biden laptop story in comments to Breitbart News, despite its co-founder labeling the story a Russian “hoax” at the time.

The public esteems the Marines for their discipline and toughness. Like their bulldog mascot, Marines latch onto an enemy and don’t let go. They stand ready to fight in any clime or place — until recently.
A few years ago, policy-makers advocated a “pivot” to the Pacific, concerned that China was building forts on atolls in the South China Sea. The commandant of the Marine Corps immediately proclaimed a counter. Small groups of Marines would move into unoccupied islands in the South China Sea, after receiving permission from the host nations. From those islands, they could then fire missiles to sink Chinese warships. Congress joined the press and policy-makers in praising this dramatic initiative, launched in haste and with scant consultation.

US warns China against helping Russia
China will face consequences if it helps Russia evade sanctions in its invasion of Ukraine, the US says.
Unnamed US officials reportedly told multiple news outlets that Russia had asked China to provide military assistance after it began the invasion.
The Chinese foreign ministry accused the US of spreading disinformation. Russia denied asking Beijing for military help.
The exchanges came before top US and Chinese officials met in Rome.
Russia keeps up attacks in Ukraine as two sides hold talks
LVIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russian and Ukrainian negotiators held a new round of talks Monday as Russia’s military forces bombarded Kyiv and other cities across Ukraine with a punishing assault that the Red Cross said has created “nothing short of a nightmare” for the country’s civilians.
After an airstrike on a military base near the Polish border brought the war dangerously close to NATO’s doorstep, the talks raised hopes for progress in evacuating civilians from besieged Ukrainian cities and getting emergency supplies to areas without enough food, water and medicine

With Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine seemingly moving slower than expected, Russian President Vladimir Putin may turn to the indiscriminate tactics of the wars in Chechnya that turned Chechen cities to rubble in the 1990s and early 2000s, a noted Russian human rights activist says.
Memorial International Director Aleksandr Cherkasov told Current Time on March 4 that Russian forces in Ukraine increasingly turn to the use of artillery and missile strikes while targeting residential areas.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau didn’t shower himself with glory during the Freedom Convoy. His poor strategic decisions, disgraceful comments about the protesters and his declaration of an unnecessary national emergency were heavily criticized. He’s been nothing short of a national embarrassment. It’s reached a point where some believe his leadership may be on borrowed time.

Thousands of people and hundreds of trucks from across Canada recently came to Ottawa to ask the government led by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to end the restrictions now placed on Canadians due to COVID-19, and especially to end the requirements that 100 percent of the population be vaccinated, wear masks, and submit to periodic lockdowns on business activities.
Police are now breaking into protesters' vehicles as a measure to deal with dissenting Canadians in Ottawa.

The New York Times Opinion section is pushing for everybody to become insectivores in order to join the militant woke crusade against climate change.
The video, headlined “The Joy of Cooking (Insects),” pontificated how “Climate-conscious cooking means getting creative” — with bugs.
When he was funny, he was very, very funny, and superbly politically incorrect, taking no prisoners (National Lampoon, 1976).
I recommend any of his books (click “Look Inside”) from the ’80s and ’90s wholeheartedly.
Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland said banks will be able freeze personal accounts of anyone linked with the protests without any need for a court order.
Vehicle insurance of anyone involved with the demonstrations can also be suspended, she added.
She said they were broadening Canada’s “Terrorist Financing” rules to cover cryptocurrencies and crowdfunding platforms, as part of the effort to clamp down on the protests.
“It’s all about following the money,” she said.
HOLY SHIT: “We are broadening the scope of Canada’s anti-money laundering and terrorist financing rules so that they cover Crowd Funding Platforms and the payment service providers they use.”

Leaders of the Ottawa “Freedom Convoy” protest have warned fellow protesters that the risk of violence is growing, amid speculation the police may move to disperse the nearly two-week occupation of Canada’s capital.
Daily “intelligence reports” compiled by protest leaders and seen by the Guardian – as well as public comments by the organisers – have grown increasingly alarmist in recent days.
While the reports include misinformation, and should not be taken as credible intelligence, they nevertheless offer an insight on the occupiers’ conspiratorial mindset.
“Soft on crime consequences? I mean, what does that even mean, right?”
Maybe not the best look, Biden WH laughing at victims of violent crime…. https://t.co/CY6OSMhdIz

On Friday’s broadcast of NBC’s “Tonight Show,” President Joe Biden said that part of the issue with his approval ratings is that “people are getting so much inaccurate information to them. I don’t mean about me, but about their situation.” And are “being told that Armageddon’s on the way. The truth is, the economy’s growing more than it has at any time in close to 60 years.” Biden also stated that fear of coronavirus is another reason for people being worried and acknowledged that there is inflation in areas that impact people.
