Dramatic footage shows US strike that obliterated ‘drug-carrying boat’ off Venezuela, killing 11 Tren de Aragua ‘Narcoterrorists’

Trump deployment of military troops to Los Angeles was illegal, judge rules

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that the Trump administration’s deployment of U.S. military troops to Los Angeles during immigration raids earlier this year was illegal.

U.S. District Judge Charles Breyer found the deployment violated the Posse Comitatus Act, which limited the use of the military for law enforcement purposes. He stayed his ruling to give the administration a chance to appeal.

“President Trump and Secretary Hegseth have stated their intention to call National Guard troops into service in other cities across the country … thus creating a national police force with the President as its chief,” Breyer wrote.

Trump is bending over backwards to protect American steel — and Canada is paying the price

WASHINGTON, D.C. — At a steel plant in Pennsylvania in May, U.S. President Donald Trump promised workers a new era of domestic steel production.

“We are once again going to put Pennsylvania steel into the backbone of America like never before,” Trump said, reflecting how he sees steel as the centrepiece of a revitalized American industrial capacity.

54 shot, 7 killed in Chicago weekend bloodbath after Pritzker claims Trump, National Guard not needed

Bodies are piling up on the streets of Chicago over Labor Day weekend – with 54 shot, including seven killed, as President Trump and Illinois Gov. Pritzker spar over sending the National Guard into the Windy City.

At least 32 separate shootings occurred in Chicago between Friday evening and noon on Monday, according to a review of police incident reports by ABC News.

Just hours after Trump posted a message on Truth Social on Saturday criticizing Pritzker’s handling of crime in the city, at least seven people were shot around 11:10 p.m. in Bronzeville. All of the people are expected to be okay.

China’s navy is expanding at breakneck speed – and catching up with the US

“Socialism is good…” a pensioner warbles into a portable karaoke mic, slightly off-key and drowned out by her friends’ chatter.

But they join her for the chorus: “The Communist Party guides China on the path to power and wealth!”

It is not the catchiest karaoke number. But it is an apt one to belt out as they look towards a horizon framed by cranes towering over ships of all sizes.

Most of Canada’s retaliatory tariffs are gone. Now what?

Party Time!

Most of the counter-tariffs Ottawa slapped on U.S. goods earlier this year have now been removed, with a few exceptions.

Canada placed duties on $60 billion worth of U.S. goods in response to American tariffs on various Canadian goods. Those tariffs are gone as of Monday, though some levies remain on non-CUSMA-compliant goods — such as tariffs on steel and aluminum products to counter U.S. tariffs targeting those industries.

Much of the media but especially the CBC is making out that removal of the counter tariffs was some kind of Master Stroke by Carney when in fact it was just the reversal of a stupid mistake.

Elbows down? Carney ends Canada’s self-inflicted grocery tax

Based on what we know, most counter-tariffs affecting food, food manufacturing, and retail will be rolled back Sept. 1. This is welcome news.

It will provide relief for Canadian consumers, greater choice for grocers, and — most importantly — help keep food inflation in check. Even if counter-tariffs did not directly apply to a wide range of products, they acted like the tide with boats: price increases in certain aisles created pressure across the grocery store. In food retail, all categories compete with one another for share of wallet. When orange juice, peanut butter, or coffee prices rise due to tariffs, it indirectly pushes prices elsewhere upward as grocers rebalance their pricing strategies.

Trump to offer Gazans $5,000 each to leave for ten years

Gaza – one can only imagine the hardship.

Plan to put war-torn territory under US control while turning it into a glitzy tourist destination

The Trump administration would pay Palestinians $5,000 to leave Gaza as part of a proposal for the US to take over the enclave for ten years.
The plans form part of a 38-page prospectus circulating the White House that would see the war-torn territory turned into a trusteeship under US control while it is transformed into a glitzy tourist destination and tech hub.

Philadelphia schools partner with CAIR for guidance on ‘American Jews’ and teaching 9/11

CAIR – TRUSTED ADVISOR ON JEWS

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) announced Monday that its Philadelphia chapter will partner with local schools, providing guidelines on teaching about 9/11 and holding workshops such as “American Jews and Political Power.”

In an Instagram post, the Muslim advocacy group said it was working with Philadelphia schools this year to ensure that students feel “seen, safe and supported” by “building more inclusive schools” through an educator’s guide, training sessions and workshops.

As Ottawa drops elbows, most provinces stand firm against selling U.S. alcohol

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent decision to lift countertariffs on U.S. goods has renewed questions about whether more Canadian provinces will allow liquor retailers to put U.S. alcohol back on their shelves.

U.S. industry associations have been calling for an end to U.S. booze bans, arguing that they harm Canadian consumers and businesses.

But outside of Alberta and Saskatchewan, which lifted moratoriums on buying and selling U.S. liquor in June, governments across Canada are showing no sign of budging.

The ‘self-inflicted injury’ to U.S. tourism that’s making some Americans angry and disappointed

Joe Koenen has not seen a single Toronto Blue Jays baseball hat all summer.

Typically, Canadians will flood the streets of Seattle during the summer, but Koenen, who runs Seattle Free Walking Tours (where people pay what they can), said Canadian tourists are almost gone. Streets look emptier to him.

Canadians calling to cancel their tours “explicitly told me that it was because of the policies and the behavior of our current president,” he said.

Guess What DOGE Found Your Money Is Funding Now!

There are times when reading a list of projects funded by the United States federal government sounds more like parody than reality.

The Department of Government Efficiency — unlike Congress, it seems — is still working hard every day to identify and eliminate waste and fraud from the federal government funded by our taxpayer dollars. And this week’s update included some profoundly idiotic programs and grants that were, until now, recipients of our hard-earned cash

‘No Exceptions‘: Trump to Sign EO Requiring Voter I.D. in Elections

President Donald Trump said Saturday he will take decisive action when it comes to voter I.D. and elections across America.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “Voter I.D. Must Be Part of Every Single Vote. NO EXCEPTIONS! I Will Be Doing An Executive Order To That End!!! Also, No Mail-In Voting, Except For Those That Are Very Ill, And The Far Away Military. USE PAPER BALLOTS ONLY!!! President DJT.”

I still don’t see how the Dems consider voter ID such a travesty. Have they no shame?

Company behind Jack Daniel’s says Canadian boycott is ‘significant’ as sales drop 62%

The parent company of American alcohol producers such as Jack Daniel’s whisky and Woodford Reserve bourbon says sales to Canada dropped 62 per cent during the latest fiscal quarter compared to a year ago, as American alcohol remains off the shelves in many provinces.

After U.S. President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on Canadian goods in early March, a number of provinces retaliated, pulling American alcohol from store shelves. Alberta and Saskatchewan have since lifted the ban.

During a conference call with investors Thursday, officials with Brown-Forman — the parent company of brands such as Jack Daniel’s and Woodford Reserve — noted other pressures, but said the boycott is causing a “significant impact.”

Chicago mayor to sign executive order directing city to resist Trump’s immigration raids

Lookin good for looting season

The mayor of Chicago is planning to sign an executive order on Saturday outlining how the city will attempt to resist Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown, according to reports.

Brandon Johnson will set out guidance for the city’s agencies and law enforcement, CNN reported, “in the midst of escalating threats from the federal government”.

Last week, the White House requested that a US military base on the outskirts of Chicago be made available to assist with immigration operations, as the Trump administration plans a broader takeover of Democratic-run “sanctuary cities”.
